It’s Spring with Fluffy Chicks, Pastel Bunnies…and Lambs.
Good Morning Sweet Ones.
I love Spring and the beautiful flowers bursting forth out of the fresh damp earth.
It is a time of renewal.
Today I am setting a Spring table.
When I think of Spring, I think bright yellow daffodils, blue crocus, and white sno-drops, purple lilacs and of course little bunnies and chicks
They are always a sign of Spring.
I always loved our ranch in New Mexico in the Spring.
We had chicks, bunnies, turkeys, ducklings, peacocks, piglets, and of course calves, foals and lambs.
Our twin boys raised chicks, lambs and calves for 4H.
And we raised Santa Gertrudis, Black Angus and Herefords cattle as well as quarter horses that we would sometimes show at events.
It seems we always had baby ‘somethings’ all year long.
Ahhhh, Spring in the high mountain desert was a time of joy and delight for me.
It all seems like a lifetime ago now as we live in the city and have become all ‘citified’. 🥰
So now that we have established Spring and Renewal, let’s discuss my table setting.
My first decision was to make my table a tea time setting and invite my neighbors.
I used my vintage blue floral toile tablecloth and since I wanted to use little flocked bunnies, chicks and lambs as my centerpiece, I sat it all on a wooden Lazy Susan.
However, after looking at it for a few days, I removed it and sat the little bunnies, chicks and lambs right on the tablecloth.
We do that don’t we?
As tablescapers, we are never quite satisfied until we have “lived” with the table a few days.
Next, I added a white charger plate and topped it with Homewares Cottage Blue Floral salad plates.
Since it was tea time, I brought out my Blue Flowers Porcelain Tea Pot, Cups and Saucers with matching creamer and sugar.
The reason I emphasize “matching” is because all the parts of this table setting are mis-matched items from my stash.
The flatware was a gifted vintage French flatware and though the colors appear blue in the photos, they are really light gray.
I also brought out my light blue Moonstone Water Goblets by Fostoria which are so old I don’t remember where I got them.
I do love the napkin rings as they are the fuzziest, cutest little yellow chicks with a blue gingham bow tie and they are holding light blue napkins.
I purchased them a couple months ago along with the other little chicks that look like they have been under the hair dryer too long. 😊🐥🐣🐤
But that is what I love about them.
I also brought out my Delft blue Christmas ornaments and salt and pepper shakers even though we won’t be using them.
I keep them in my hutch so I did not have to go far and it gave all my light cornflower blue a little depth on the table.
The lambs are so soft and fluffy most people have to touch them…I have had them a long time.🐑🐏
The flocked bunnies all came from Michaels…on line of course.
I haven’t stepped foot in a Michaels or Home Goods in years. 🐇🐇
I know what would happen if I did. LOL
The Menu for my Tea party is simple and purchased.
Pastel cupcakes from Publix that I sprinkled with sanding sugar. (semi-homemade) haha!
Petit Fours, also from the market along with Lemon Snaps and Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Of course I could have made any of the above; and have made them in the past, but I wanted this Tea Party to be simple and easy so I could have more time to enjoy my friends by not being a bit stressed with prep.
The tea is a special blend given to me by another good friend.
She knows how much I love green tea.
And how Mother Needs A Moment!
The little boxes have 5 tea bags with 4 flavors to choose from. They are Peach Mango, Lemon Ginger, Passion Fruit and Pineapple Twist.
I love them all but the Pineapple Twist is probably my favorite.
This is the time of year for Easter bonnets, Easter egg hunts, and all thoughts of Easter bunnies.
Even though this is not an Easter table setting, but more of a Spring one, I would be remiss if I didn’t speak of the most important; The Lamb of God.
My grandmother’s favorite hymn was “The Old Rugged Cross” and she sang it a lot.
I will always remember her sweet voice singing the words:
“O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary.”
The good news is He is Risen!
” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” NIV
Thank you for reading It’s Spring with Fluffy Chicks, Pastel Bunnies …and Lambs.
Have a Blessed and Wonderful week.
Rita, what a wonderful organizer you are. How delightful to see the many ways to decorate a table. We are all thinking about or looking for inspiration. Thanks for making it so easy by providing everything in one place.
A special thanks for all you have been doing these past years.
The Little Yellow Corner Store – The Tranquility of Easter and Spring
Kari, I love the blue and white with pops of yellow! I am hosting a spring tea bridal shower for my daughter next weekend and that Blue Flowers tea set is stunning! I might have to run out and find a blue and white tea pot myself! So pretty. The little chicks are a sweet addition to your place settings. And, I love the collection of white bunnies and lambs in the centre! Wishing you a very joyful Easter season!
Thank you Maureen for your sweet comments. I have to admit I really love my blue and white tea set. I have many many tea pots and this one is definitely one of my favorites. Good luck with your spring tea bridal shower for your daughter…what fun it will be for you both. Have a great and wonderful week. 🐇🐥🐑🥰
Kari, what a charming table to welcome Spring! Blue and white is always a fabulous combination, and adding all the cute bunnies, chicks and lambs increases the cute factor ten-fold. (I chuckled at your frizzy chick under a hair dryer comment.) The various tea flavors sound delicious and I loved your tea set. Have a very happy Spring!
Thanks for stopping by Sandra. I am drinking a cuppa tea as we speak. Have a great April and Easter! 🐇🐥🐑🌞
Oh how sweet are those little fuzzy bunnies, Kari!! And the rest of the little chicks and lambs are darling! Ha – yes we do change our minds a lot! But I love the arrangement you settled on; I can imagine them all out in a little field of blue wildflowers! Your tea things are beautiful, too, and your tea tray looks delicious. Too bad we’re not neighbors – I would have popped over to keep you and those cupcakes company! Always a pleasure to share Rita’s lovely hop with you! Hope you have a wonderful spring my friend!
Oh Barb we are certainly the tea lovers aren’t we. I believe I have too many tea pots but there is nothing like a cuppa in a pretty tea cup. I just can’t resist. I would be thrilled to share a cupcake and tea time with you. Happy Spring ! 🌞🐰🐏🐣🩷
Kari, your spring table is a delight! Those precious bunnies, chicks, and lambs bring a smile to my face. Your table is gorgeous with the blue and white color palette. The tablecloth, dinnerware, and tea set are so pretty. All of those sweet treats look scrumptious, too. I enjoyed seeing the photographs of your cattle. My dad has raised registered Angus for years. I hope you have a wonderful spring and happy Easter, sweet friend!
Thank you Shannon for stopping by and for your kind comments. You are such an expert on all things blue and you do it so great. I love all your blue touches in your home so I do appreciate you.
Yes, raising cattle is quite the adventure…and of course we raised ours for our own personal meat as well as for re-sale….the pigs too, but all the rest of the animals were just around because we liked them. Of course the chickens were great for the eggs. Happy April dear one.🥰🐇🐥🐑
Chicks, bunnies, lambs and…tea…what a perfect combination. Your blue and white setting with touches of bright spring yellow works so well. Love the blue and white china that pairs perfectly with your lovely tablecloth. So nice to learn about your earlier life and see pictures of the cattle you raised. Growing up with animals is a gift I’m sure your children still treasure. It would be a delight to sit at your table with all your lovely treats for a beautiful spring tea.
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
I’m so glad you dropped by Lynne…I loved our ranch life and I was setting up tables even then. We had a covered chuck wagon and Percheron draft horses that were featured in local parades. Every Spring, we would round up, castrate, and give shots to young calves and since it was usually an extended family affair, we hosted a big BBQ off the back of our Chuck Wagon. A few of the locals played instruments so our celebration (after all the work was done of course) was to relax, eat and enjoy the music. I set any portable table I could with red and white tablecloths and matching plates, etc. Thanks for stopping by. 🐑🐥🐇🐇🥰
Kari, you have created such a beautiful table with all of your perfectly mismatched blue and white pieces!! So lovely!! I am crushing over the tea set and your flatware!! So special!! The little duck napkin rings with the adorable blue check bow ties are precious. I enjoyed hearing about your ranch life!!❤️ I hope you have a wonderful Spring and Easter 🐣🌷🌱🐇
Thank you Ann, so glad you dropped by …it is always such fun to “hop” with you. I’m also happy to see you getting all settled in and back to your usual inspiration…tho I miss seeing your beautiful lake, I am sure you have found something equally as pretty to replace it. Blessings my friend and Happy April. 🥰🐑🐥🐇💚🙏🏻
What a sweet blue and white table, Kari. I love those crazy chicks and all the cute things on your table. That flatware is amazing! Keeping your tea simple made it enjoyable for you. I need to do that more. 💙
Kitty you are so sweet to stop by…thank you. I know how much you love your tea. As I was reflecting on this post, I realized that I have always loved a cuppa tea but didn’t start collecting tea pots until the 80’s. I think it has become an addiction as I will use any excuse to make a pot of tea (in a different pot) and sit and sip. LOL 🥰
Kari, your table is darling with your collection of lambs, bunnies, and chicks. You made me giggle with the sweet chick who might have been under the dryer too long. The bunnies are too cute. The blues are so soothing from the tablecloth, plates and tea cups. So perfect to welcome spring or Easter. The teapot is gorgeous. How fun for your boys to grow up with animals. I think it is important and they learn a lot. We raised chickens and rabbits. I was quite the farm girl when I was younger. Your tiered tray is filled with yummy treats. The tea appeals to me with those lovely flavors. Always a pleasure to hop along with you. Happy April.
Oh Linda thank you for your kind comments. We had quite a Menagerie for pretty much our children’s growing up years. If the boys were not tending to animal projects they were playing a sport of some kind or attending church or school activities. So I always felt very busy because my husband and I were always involved in church and school too. These days I look back and wonder…how did I do all that? LOL. Perhaps that is why I enjoy my quiet tea time now. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Oh Kari, I just love your beautiful table scapes. You are so talented!!! Miss you so much… you were always so “put together” Just admired you so much… ( Still do, just I don’t get to see you any more… ) Love and hugs, Pray you are doing well! Laura
Oh Laura I miss our days at TWA/American. I treasure you as a dear friend and so glad that God put our offices next door to each other. When I tell people that the hallway over the airplane hangar was a quarter mile long, and we walked it every day, sometimes in high heels, I believe they think I am exaggerating! LOL
(I find as I get older, I do a lot of reminiscing) But we had fun back then, didn’t we? I still keep in touch with Pat (Library)…she’s a hoot. I have seen you are in Real Estate now and are very successful. Good for you.
I’m doing well, a little slower (might take me a little longer to walk that hallway these days). In my heart and mind I feel younger than my actual years. If I would have known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself in my younger days. Lol 🥰. Hugs and Blessings Always and thanks for stopping by.

Lol, You are so right…. the long walk to and from and sometimes if you go out for lunch… I think that was only thing that kept me in shape…
I loved working there, and with wonderful people (you ) around me. Thank goodness I still have my memories and they are all good ones. I don’t see many people any more that we worked with, nor hear from any… makes me sad, as we were such a big extended family at one time. but I do remember how wonderful you were to my girls and me. I think your beautiful table settings has made me love and appreciate the art of displaying my beautiful dishes that I have collected over the years… You never know how influential you are to someone unless they tell you….. I’m telling YOU…. you are/were awesome to me, and I love you for that. God Bless you and the Captain. Stay healthy, wealthy and wise!!!!
Love you,
Laura
Kari, what a gorgeous table! This is my cup of tea, no pun intended. The softer side of the blue toile makes for a very calm setting. The salad plates, the tea set, and the flatware all contribute to that soft feeling. Those green teas all look so refreshing, I would like any one of those. And let’s talk about the farm friends! First of all, I learned something new with you having been a farm girl who raised all those various breeds! Your boys must have been quite responsible in participating in the 4H program with their breeds. I have one great nephew who raises award-winning rabbits, and is growing a fine college fund with his auction proceeds at 4H. Your flyaway haired chicks are my favorites here on your table, but who can resist a lamb, especially The Lamb of God?! Your opening statement of spring vision is exactly where we are right now, and I have all but the blue crocus in bloom in my landscape right now. It is a welcoming sight, comparable to your beautiful table. Thank you for participating and sharing your love of tablescaping, faith, family and friends. 💙
My dear Rita you are too kind. thank you. I just told Mary (below) of a few experiences we have encountered in our wonderful journey through life. And yes, the boys also raised rabbits. They loved the floppy eared (Holland Lop even though I preferred the American white). We also raised guinea fowl (very vocal-best watch dogs) Call ducks (small white and the cutest mini ducks) Toulouse Geese, Carrier pigeons (we banded the squabs) among the animals I mentioned in my post. That is not including our encounters with wild life such as grey fox (they climb trees) red fox (had to keep them out of the hen house) coyotes, deer, wild turkeys, skunks, badgers, snakes, (still don’t like ’em) raccoons (kept one baby as a pet), mountain lions in N.M. and panthers, alligators and bears in Florida. All at one time or another, up close and personal. LOL. And as far as gardens go…I think I have planted every kind of plant or tree in all different climates such as Washington State, N.M., Texas, Kansas and Missouri. (Many failures, many successes, much learning.) God has Blessed me with a wonderful life and as I look back, I realize I am older than dirt!! 🥰🥰🥴😊 Have a great and Blessed week my friend. 🥰🐑🐥🐰🌞
Good morning Kari, I’m lovin’ all the blues at your pretty spring table! Beautiful floral tea pot and cream and sugar and plates! Your flatware is so striking and I love your animal menagerie of chicks, bunnies and lambs at your table. I bet there was never a dull moment with your real-life animal menagerie on your ranch! Your boys must have been in heaven. Cute fuzzy chicks at your table…I had to chuckle at your description of them looking like they have been under the hair dryer too long. 😊🐥 As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you! Happy April 🐇🐣💙
Oh Mary the stories I could tell of our life on the ranch in the high mountain desert of New Mexico. I have helped mama cows birth calves….yes, you sometimes have to use your whole arm to coax out a calf…to using an ax to chop through the ice so the creek wouldn’t back up. (we had snow from October through May at our 7500 feet elevation)…. but I wouldn’t change a minute of it. We have been through tornadoes in Kansas, Massive snow storms (and drifts) in New Mexico, Intensive dust storms in Texas, Volcanic Action in Washington to hurricanes in Florida…and upon reflection, I would do it all over again. Have a great and Blessed Day.🥰
Kari, loving how you styled your spring table. The blue white patterns of your tablecloth, your salad plates, the tea pot, and the cups and saucers all go together so well. Then you accented with splashes of yellow with the bunnies and those adorable yellow chick napkin rings. Had to laugh at the “under the dryer too long” simile. Even the tea boxes and yummy looking iced cupcakes all coordinate with the table setting. Lucky neighbors who joined you for tea time.
Thank you for for sweet comments Jan…I love playing with table settings. but I think what motivates me is the appreciation my friends show for my efforts. I like to think they “egg” me on. LOL
Well my friend, we wait for another year and it appears that silly portal will take most of our up and coming players….ouch!…but perhaps starting with a new, fresh team, is what we need to get back to our legacy. I am not ready to give up on Bill even though I do think he has mellowed a bit since his heart issues…in my opinion he is still one of the (if not the best) coaches in the NCAA. RCJH
Oh Kari…..I am amazed. I love your use of blue and white for your table with the various patterns which all work so beautifully together. Soft, subtle and delicate is your table with touches of whimsy, especially your hair dryer blown napkin ring chickie. So adorable. I felt the love you all have for animals. Your beautiful blue floral tablecloth plays off your elegant tea set. It would be a grear honor to have tea from such a classic tea set. I am in love with your blue wine stemware. Such beauty. Of course, your array of goodies including your gorgeous cupcakes have me diving right into your photo. I can almost taste their sweetness and with a cup of the delicate green tea would be such an indulgance. A very beautiful and elegant tablescape. Happy Easter Kari!!!!
Thank you Marsha…I love the blues, especially the soft blues and I have always loved hot green tea but it wasn’t until I watched the old 1984 TV show with Angela Lansbury that I began my love of teapots. Remember she always drank tea on the show “Murder she Wrote”? I used Blue Willow dishware as my everyday dishes and I had to buy the Blue Willow TeaPot (like Angela used) and now my collection is way overboard if you know what I mean. (Wow! I just realized that was 40 years ago….I am older than I think) LOL 🥰
Kari, your table is beautiful! I love the all the blues – so pretty. The vintage tablecloth is a stunner and is the perfect backdrop for your tea table. I love the salad plates, and the chicks holding the napkins are adorable. Love love the chicks who stayed under the hairdryer too long lol and the bunnies and lambs are so cute sitting in the middle of the table. And the vintage flatware – oh my. The goodies all look so delicious, especially the cupcakes – yum. I loved reading about your life on the ranch in New Mexico – that must have been amazing! It was great hopping with you and I hope you have a happy spring and wishing you a joyous Easter!
Oh Kim when I look back at our time in New Mexico, my heart fills with joy because there was so much hard work… but that brought fulfillment. It was so peaceful in the mountains, we were at 7500 feet…so we had snow from October til May. Yes, this coming from a gal who loves 80 degree temps and ocean views. LOL Thanks for stopping by. Blessings
Kari, I loved reading about the animals that filled your lives with joy. Raising cattle must be an amazing experience. Santa Gertrudis, Black Angus and Herefords are big! Love the blue and white of this table, and those fluffy chicks and baby lambs. I, too, ordered a set of those darling chick napkin rings. I’ve yet to set a table, but one is in my near future. With Easter late this year, we’ve lots of time to set multiple tables. Happy Spring! Happy Easter! Always fun to hop with you, Kari!
Thanks Sarah for you sweet comments and we obviously have the same taste in napkin rings. I adore those little chicks. I will look forward to seeing how you use them! Hugs always
You have me singing the old Rugged Cross. Thank you for that.
Your blue and white tea table is a perfect setting for an Easter gathering.
The little fluffy chicks and lambs are adorable. They add such whimsy.
Thank you for the inspiration! Happy Tuesday!
Nancy you are so kind to stop by. Thank you, I need to get over to “tidbits”…I always look forward to Tuesdays. The Old Rugged Cross is so special for me, my grandma would close her eyes and I could feel each word she sang. Have a great and Blessed day my friend.🐇🐥🐑💚❤️
Hi Kari, the adorable chicks, bunnies, and lambs are the perfect complement to your pretty blue and white table setting, and I would love to sample your tea assortment and those scrumptious cupcakes! Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks Cecilia for your kind comments. It is always fun to ‘play’ with my dishes. I will never grow up apparently. Blessings Always
What a great spring table scape. I love your little chicks, fluffy lambs and lambs. Best of all was remembering Jesus Christ has risen and the Old Rugged Cross. I remember that song very well at the old revivals.
You are right Sandy.. I still get teary eyed when we sing that song in church, not only does it remind me of my grandma…it reminds me of what He did for me/us. hugs sweet friend and stay warm up there. Tom is flying in and near Jackson Hole, Wyoming and he said it is snowing! 🐇🐥🌞
LOVE THIS CARRIE!!!!!
