.Hello! I’m Kari. Founder and creator of Me and My Captain.
Welcome to my blog and to a diverse community of wonderful people who love life, their families and their homes….and they love to eat. As for me, I am the wife of a pilot (my Captain) whose motto is: “A mile of a road will take you one mile. A mile of a runway can take you anywhere.” … I am also a mother to adult children who have families of their own and live in the midwest, while we reside in sunny, SW Florida. We also have (at last count) 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who are our pride and joy. I love to cook, decorate and design our home and most importantly, I love the Lord….who is our ultimate Captain. I started this blog as a way to share and swap recipes with not only my children, but our friends and family members. I love to entertain and I was so happy to see that many others shared this same passion. We have grown together. Friends soon learn that everyone is welcomed into our home and I hope you as a reader feel the same. So, pull up a chair at my virtual table and lets chat…confessions- over the hedge so to speak.
Additional Things you might like to know about me: I am also a pilot, although I now leave the flying to the Captain. I worked for Boeing for over 26 years. My faith is very important to me and the Captain and I are very active in our church. I had Pancreatic Cancer and went through the Whipple Surgery and am now 5 years cancer free. I teach a Ladies Bible Class in my home every Friday and I always make them a dessert and lay out a pretty themed vignette. I love to garden and decorate our home and read books where I can touch and smell the pages. I am also an online shopper and have been long before covid. I also love to eat good ole’ comfort food.
