Anchors Aweigh….the Navy Song!
Yesterday, I shared with you my visit to Leavenworth National Cemetery in the post titled “Veterans Day – Tuesday Nov 11, 2014.”
Today …on this Veterans Day, I would like to share with you a few members of my family, who are …or were veterans.
My twin boys both served in the Navy during Desert Storm.
I am so proud of both of them! 🙂
Their father joined the Navy at 18 years old, just as the Korean War was winding down.
He was following his father and his 4 uncles who served in the Navy during World War II.
So as you see, it has been quite a Navy tradition.
Needless to say, I have heard the Navy Song, “Anchors Aweigh” many, many times. 😉
Gone, but not forgotten, was my father who served in the Army.
He and my uncle enlisted in 1941, during World War II.
There are others in my family who have served….as there are in many families.
My thoughts and prayers turn to those who have gone before us, and those who are still serving our country.
Thank you to each and every one of our military…women and men….and to their families …not just this one day of the year, but every day that you are making sacrifices, that we may continue to have our freedom.
Honoring All Who Served!
