And This Little Piggy Went To Market….
I always loved the three little piggies story when I was but a wee one….. And when we lived in New Mexico, we raised a few pigs.
Being raised on a farm, there has always been chickens, horses, cattle, peacocks, ducks, turkeys and of course…pigs.
So, I am drawn to farm animals and I have a few of them around, tucked in and about our home.
Not the real ones of course… 🙂 but you may very well find, wooden horses, chicken figurines, egg baskets and of course…pigs!
The particular pig I am talking about right now is about 22 inches long and is about 11 inches high. And he has been residing here for several years….so I decided he needed a little “re-do” of his coloring.
He has always been a kind of charcoal, tan and black color….but I wanted to make him more colorful. So, I picked up a sponge brush and started dabbing and painting.
I mentioned in the post about chalk paint….. that I had used this wonderful invention on a pig and that I would show you how I did it. The link is below.
No Hopscotch with this Chalk Paint!
It is really simple to use, you can thoroughly “coat” an item or lightly coat or dry brush coat.
The paint is called Annie Sloan Chalk Paint ( http://www.anniesloan.com) and it not only is easy to use, it looks velvety when finished.
Right now, the pig stands on my sofa table as is, but he is not finished yet. 🙁
He still needs to be waxed with Annie Sloan Wax, but I am still “thinking” on his coloring.
And his eyes which might need a little touch-up!
I may add another color to the top of the paint and I may dry brush a darker color over the top of that.
He needs to grow on me a bit. The color comes across as a little pinkish….actually, it is more of a rusty pink if that makes any sense.
I am so used to his charcoal color…it takes some getting used to. So I will live with him like he is …for awhile. 🙂
Do you, my dear readers ….have this “quirk” that you need to “live” with a change you have made for a short time….. before you either accept it… or change it completely?
I would love to hear from you.
Until then…Have a great week-end!
Hi honey, yet another skill to add to your resume… pig buffer upper*…
(*as in you buff up the car after you wash and polish it – as I’m never sure if there is an alternative American meaning to some phrases I use)
Did you name the little piggy? Although he does look twice the size of Jessie
Hugs xx
Very un-original name….Wilbur!!! and your phrase “buff” is very appropriate….definitely the same in any language!
thanks for stopping by….:)
Love the pig I agree the eyes need a little work but it’s so cute and I like the new color????
thanks sis for input….suggestions regarding the eyes? should they look like eyes or just a “hint” of an eye…such as outlining???? I will work on it.:)
He’s a cute little piggy, Kari! I like the color. I remember a sow we used to have who was that color. She was huge and my cousin greased her up and then rode her. lol
LOL Sandy.. The state fair in Texas did have a greased pig riding contest one year while living there and it sure was funny. thanks for stopping by.
It was funny, Kari, but felt sorry for the pig. My cousin stayed on a long time even though the pig tried it’s best to shake him off.
thanks for sharing Sandy…it makes me smile. 🙂
