My dear readers….I definitely have Spring Fever as you can tell from previous posts. We are painting, spiffing, re-arranging, tossing out, bringing in, trimming out and cutting out shrubs and bushes and just doing a general Spring House Cleaning of Casa de la Luna…. and there is still so much more to do. It is going to take weeks (perhaps even months) and a small village to carry out all the things on my honey-do list!
However, if you were to come to my front-door-house this morning (see the meaning of front door house here: Don’t Let The Screen Door Slam! ) I would invite you in for a cup of coffee and a piece of sour cream coffee cake.
And I would show you the still-to-be-finished painting of the wood work, and the wall with 3 different swatches of paint colors and ask your opinion.
And as I casually refilled your coffee cup, you might comment on my coffee station vignette and I would have to tell you all about it.
You see, I love vignettes!
And I love a vignette that is pretty but one that is also practical! Like a Coffee station vignette.
I have confessed that I don’t like a lot of clutter especially on my kitchen counter tops….and yet, I would like the stuff on my counter tops to be something I can look at and smile. I also have to confess that I change things around quite a bit and that is a good thing because one can “tire” of looking at the same things each and every day. I have spoken about shopping your home to place in little vignettes all around your home. You can check out that post here: Inspiration and Love
I find myself going through different phases of my decorating taste. For example: I remember a few years ago, my counter top was home to my coffee maker, toaster, blender….etc.
Then, I moved the toaster to a bottom cabinet as we didn’t use it that often…and my blender went into the dish pantry on a heavy oak cart along with my extra stand mixer. (My other stand mixer resides on a pop out shelf behind a cabinet door, next to my stove top) check out that post here: Kitchen Cabinet Roll Out Shelves
The coffee maker which is a must have in this house…went into the cabinet below where it originally sat on the counter top.
When we have Christmas Open Houses and Summer BBQs…I like to set up a rolling table with all the fixins’ for drinks such as a coffee bar, a cocktail bar and a table for scooping up hot cinnamon wassail….all away from food prep. It is so convenient to let the guests get their own drinks away from the action.
Years ago I had one of those coffee mug trees that sat on my counter. Most of my friends had the same thing. Then I went through a phase of hanging cup hooks under the cabinet, also near the coffee pot. And now, I am here to tell you I have come full circle.
AND I love it. I really love the little black rail with the cup hooks along with the small plant holder in the center.
I sat up this cute little coffee vignette and I think it looks and feels so much different than long ago.
Don’t ya just love the idea of keeping the cups up off the counter and I have contained the “stuff” in a white wire basket.
Everything is exactly where I need it when I come to the kitchen each morning for that cup of Joe or sometimes it is a hot cup of tea.
There are spoons, napkins, K cups for the Keurig (both coffee and tea) and cream and sugar cubes.
And that enameled Bread box in the corner is one that I picked up a few weeks ago.
It reminded me of my grandma’s bread box.
And then it would most likely be at this point you would look at your watch and comment that it is time to go and I would escort you to the front door and we would say our goodbyes.
Thank you so much for stopping by my dear readers….but before you go… Do you like bringing back a bit of the old with a slight update?
Yep! A place for everything and everything in it’s place!
Have a great and blessed week-end!

Hi Kari, I think it looks lovely and I understand the “full circle”. Things on display one year and then…. we all need the change and those things that were little used get tucked out of the way… never to be seen again usually.
I pulled out my toastie machine the other day as I had a hankering for a melted cheese and onion toastie.. with all the crispy bits. It was scrumptious, but then the calorie queen brain took over and consigned the machine to the back of the cupboard next to the waffle machine.
But as for the coffee machine… I love the matching set up, it looks so pretty and is practical having everything around the machine….
I set one of the hot water dispensing ones in my bedroom, on a small tray with the cups etc, luckily I take my coffee black, so now I really enjoy my morning coffee seated at my dressing table. Am I just too lazy to walk the few steps to the kitchen… perhaps… but somehow it seems decadent to have it in the bedroom.
Hugs from across the pond xx

That is what life is all about isn’t it? We need to pamper ourselves in this busy busy world. I love the idea of having your coffee in your bedroom. Luckily, Tom and I drink our coffee black too…but if guests want the cream and sugar….we are ready for them.
Thanks for stopping by
Hugs always
