Yep, there is certainly a Transitional Season as we make ready for Thanksgiving and say Good-by to Halloween.
I have removed all jack-o-lanterns and black cats and yes, the “splat witch” and the orange and black stocking-ed legs of the witch in the flower urn. They have all been put away until next year. Luckily we can leave out a few pumpkins and Indian Corn, pheasant feathers and wheat stalks because they fit right in with Harvest time, which is the decor for Thanksgiving. I will add a few turkeys as we get closer to the big feast day, but until then I have set up several vignettes and I will show you one of them today.
I really love vignettes because I can vary what I put together on tables or a hutch or buffet. AND, if I use baskets, trays or crates…it makes decorating even easier as I group items together and in one easily movable vignette.

I mean, let’s be real here….variety is the spice of life and even chewing gum loses it’s flavor after a while and so does my decorating of vignettes.
This vignette started with an old berry crate. I love old crates and they have been a part of my life for many years. When I was a little girl, I used orange crates to set up my play kitchen….and now that I am a big girl, I still play with all kinds of crates. This particular crate is a berry crate from Oregon. There is a small stain of red berries on the bottom of this crate AND I LOVE IT!
I placed a 3 tiered tray in the center of the berry crate and placed serving dishes, ceramic pumpkins, apples, pheasant feathers, wheat stalks, pine cones, and Indian Corn.
One note about the Indian Corn….you will notice that there is a white chippy tray with a few kernals of corn. There are those who like to have a tradition of placing 5 kernals of corn at each place setting of their Thanksgiving Dinner. This is to invite the guests to give five things they are thankful for. You will note that there are more than 5 kernals of corn on my tray and that is because I dropped the Indian Corn on the floor and several kernals fell off…so instead of tossing them, I placed them on the white tray. There is no limit to the number of things one can be thankful for and I am just keeping it real my friends. 🙂
Just as there is no limit to how many items one can place on a vignette as you can see from mine. This dining table vignette makes a perfect transition from Halloween to Harvest to Thanksgiving.
Search around your home and I am sure you can come up with items to place in a basket or tray that will give your Fall Decor a transitional flair.
Have a great Friday, my dear readers.
Blessings
