The confessions of a drinker of….???
Hello, my name is Kari….and I drink Coca Cola soda pop.
OK, here is my disclaimer…I don’t drink it all the time.
That sounds a bit like an excuse doesn’t it? But it is true.
The confessions of a drinker of….???
Hello, my name is Kari….and I drink Coca Cola soda pop.
OK, here is my disclaimer…I don’t drink it all the time.
That sounds a bit like an excuse doesn’t it? But it is true.
Years ago, I had a glass of coke in my hand almost constantly, but over the years I learned that I was drinking mostly sugar and other ingredients that I can not even pronounce. So, I quit. Sort of.
Confessions?
Here is my confession….
…..There are two occasions on which I will revert back to my old drinking habits!
And that is:
I still think I have to have a coke if I am eating pizza, Or if I am in the movie theater and eating popcorn.
And I fall off the wagon. Splat! Right on my face!
I do enjoy that cold refreshing drink with all those carbonated bubbles.
The good news is (here comes another excuse or justification) I never finish the whole drink.
My confession today leads into yet another Christmas vignette.
Many moons ago, I had access to stacks and stacks of pop crates.
I had Royal Crown pop crates, Coke and Pepsi crates and eventually, my garage went through a metamorphosis and the crates went to who-knows- where!
Enter my white, fuzzy polar bears that I found on-line a couple years ago….(You can see them here in a tablescape)
……along with the cute Coca Cola commercials and I thought to myself…
……..wouldn’t it be great if I had one of the coke crates to make up a vignette using the polar bears?
Only, I didn’t have any pop crates anymore.
This Holiday season, I went on a search for pop crates, specifically Coca Cola pop crates. I asked Only Daughter if she had any of them as she had access to lots of them at one time as well.
No Joy!
I checked thrift stores.
No Joy!
I checked garage sales.
No Joy!
I checked on-line (my favorite way to shop) and I did see a few on EBAY, but they were really expensive.
Seriously? A beat up old pop crate for $52.00????
No way Jose!
So I continued my search.
And then a few weeks ago….I received an email from EBAY and a seller had a “scratch and dent” sale of sorts and was offering a “buy it now”, for a scratched up, loose bottomed, Coca Cola pop crate for $5.00, plus shipping and handling.
I bought it and now I have just one more thing to store in my garage. 🙁 But it makes a perfect vignette.
Sometimes we go full circle don’t we?
The point of all this is to tell you that you can make a vignette with whatever is around your home…or whatever you find on EBAY. I like to put items in a basket, or tray or old pop crate…it not only keeps them corralled for easy moving, it can be pretty too.
For this vignette, in addition to the bears, I added a lantern with a few bits of greenery. I may add a black and white checked bow to the lantern for just a bit of color. AND I may add a bottle or two of Coca Cola…for display purposes only, of course!
Very simple.
My polar bears remind me of the Coca Cola polar bears in that commercial and it is fitting that they are now sitting in a Coca Cola pop crate sporting a few Christmas ornaments and pine cones on the counter in my kitchen.
It is amazing at the simple things in life that can make me smile and give me a warm and fuzzy.
I am sitting at my breakfast nook, looking at my Coca Cola/Polar Bear Vignette and sipping on????
No, I am not drinking a Coca Cola, but a nice cup of hot green tea.
Have a great and Blessed day.

Oh, Kari, you bought back memories of going to the local drug store in Eudora, Kansas (owned by Mr. Olsen) for a cherry coke.
Thank you for the memory!

Dick had some PET scan and when it was over, they offered him a coke and saltines!
I noticed you referred to my drink at your party as “my coke”.
That is one big company….Coca Cola.
Kari says
It sure is Skylark…Only Daughter used to have an all Coke outdoor furniture on her back porch. She had the high top table and high chairs and all sorts of things. I believe you will hear most people refer to a soda pop drink as “coke”, in fact once I ordered coke through a drive thru and they gave me Pepsi. When I tasted it…it was awful and I asked them why they gave me Pepsi and they said anything referred to as coke meant any drink they had on hand. I disagree as there is only one taste for coke. haha. thanks for stopping by.
