Looking Through Bleary Bloodshot Eyes…..

I have a dog groomer who comes to the house to groom Jesse James.

The groomer is a Rockstar!

No, seriously…that is the name of the mobile grooming company!

Never-the-less, my groomer is a rockstar as she gives Jesse a bath and snips and clips and he comes out looking like this.

Why do I tell you this?

Because Jesse had his monthly appointment at a bright and early hour of 7:30 a.m. today!

Soooo? You may ask.

Soooooo, we did not get to bed until about 2:30 a.m. Florida time

Again, Sooooooo?…and why not?

The Kansas City Royals, my dear readers….played a 3 game series against a team from the West coast….The Seattle Mariners!…and they played in Seattle!

The game didn’t start until 10.00 p.m. Florida time and it went 10 innings as the game was tied at 6.

The 7:30 a.m. appointment actually started at 7:15 a.m. because the Rockstar was early….but we were ready even though we were looking through bleary, bloodshot eyes from the game watching.

I won’t tell a lie…..the Captain and I were both getting tired.

As the game wore on, “Beautiful grand daughter #3″ dropped out of our convo of texts.

And then “Only daughter” dropped off saying she could not stay awake.

I could fully understand as they were texting from the Midwest and were 2 hours later than Seattle time.

The Captain and I hung in there even though the time difference was a 3 hour later game for us.

And then the Captain started softly snoring and I was all alone….hanging with my team.

My eyes would slowly close and I would pop them open, willing them to not close….no matter the sandy, gritty feeling that was slowly coming on.

And then the game went to the 10th inning….extra innings for an already long, long game and the score was tied at 6.

Our catcher, Salvadore Perez or Salvy as we call him….hit a home run in the top of the 10th inning with Eric Hosmer (Hos) on base shooting us ahead of the Mariners.

Salvy looked to the Heavens, giving thanks as he crossed home plate after hitting the two-run homer.

In my opinion, The Royals have a championship core in place, poised to make another run.

My dear readers….even though the Royals went to back to back World Series and won it all in the second WS….there has always been speculation as to the merits of this team.

The club remains positioned to push for its third playoff appearance in four seasons.  How can that not show the pundits that the Royals are a force to contend with?

And Yet…….
………the organization will still face a free-agent puzzle in the offseason as Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Jason Vargas and Alcides Escobar prepare to hit the open market for the first time.
They play 1st base, 3rd base, center field, pitcher and shortstop!
These key players have caused a “situation” which has complicated a difficult question.

“We’re a game and a half out of first place,” Yost said, (see above pic). “Why would we even think about selling?”

Yet as the industry scrutinizes the future of his team — wondering whether it will buy, sell or stand pat before the trade deadline on July 31 — Yost has his own view of the question. He finds it somewhat mystifying.

“Nobody gives us a chance of winning this year,” Yost said. “But they don’t know our team. Right now, we’re trying to win this division. That’s the only thing where our focus is. Do we have a team where we feel we can do that? Yeah.  We had a team that we thought could do it even when we were 10 games under .500.”

And you know what?

Even though I am typing this through bleary, bloodshot eyes…. with the newly groomed and cutest little white Pomeranian at my feet…

…….I BELIEVE in the Kansas City Royals team too! They are a Rockstar for sure!

Now, I have to rest up…. as today the team is traveling to Los Angeles for another late night game on Friday with the Dodgers.

#ForeverRoyal!!!!!!

Have a great and blessed day!
