In Case You Haven’t Noticed….Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!

Yep, Santa Claus is definitely coming to town and he has arrived just in time to be included in a Christmas Santa Claus tablescape.

Folks, this is a tablescape from last year, but I felt since it was a milestone of sorts, my great grand daughter’s birthday to be exact…I wanted to share it again.

Every time I look at this tablescape I think of Brecken, because I posted it when she was just 1 day old….

…..and yesterday, this red headed little sweetie celebrated her first birthday.

Isn’t that the sweetest smile you have ever seen?

And she was smiling at me!

Can you tell I am just a little bit proud of her? 🙂

We saw her just a couple months ago and she was just learning to walk.

More about her birth later in this post.

I took these pics at the Brookville Hotel Restaurant in October where the whole family met for dinner.

PS…if you haven’t eaten at the Brookville Hotel…you are missing something, the Captain and I try to go there any time we go back to Kansas.

Just sayin’!!!

Now, she is running everywhere.

I’m doing it again!

Playing with my dishes….

Someday when I grown up, I want to be the hostess of beautiful, sparkly Christmas parties!

You know the kind where the ladies are all dressed in their finest with ribbons and bows and long, flouncy, bouffant dresses!

Dresses like that of Scarlett O’Hara….that show off the good parts of one’s anatomy (shoulders and bosoms)  and hide the rest under a heavily starched or hooped crinoline! 

Other than being very, very hot (no air conditioning in those days)…I love the romance of those dresses with their under-dress hoops that shoot out from your waistline… hiding a multitude of too many Christmas cookies!

Alas, I do host sparkly Christmas parties and someday I will get the nerve to actually ask the guests to dress as they once did in the South!

Maybe…maybe not! 🙂

Meanwhile, I am dreaming of a white Christmas which of course is purely wishful thinking because it hasn’t snowed in SW Florida like in 39 years!

What? Snow in Florida?

That is right, it has snowed in South Florida and the last time, or only time in SW Florida history was a snow that fell from the skies on Jan. 19, 1977, according to the the Miami Herald .

My dear readers, can you picture real snow flakes swirling over the palm trees?  Not the man made snow that is brought in this time of year when Christmas lighting ceremonies are abundant with snow.

Of course, the minute the falling snow hit the ground…it quickly dissipated. BUT, it did SNOW!!!! The National Weather Service recorded it as only a trace of snow, but many thought of it as a raging blizzard at the time!

I am from the Midwest and I am used to early morning views of frozen fields and ice glittering in the weak morning sun!

I remember the beautiful clear, crisp days when our noses turned red…. and you could see your breath as a small vapor in front of you.

And I especially remember the glow of a fire in the fireplace and sipping hot cocoa while our cold toes, adorned with thick socks were warming by the cozy fire.

Memories! They are wonderful aren’t they?

But, do I want to move back to months and months of cold and icy slippery roads and icicles dripping from my nose?

NO!!!!!!   but I do love my memories.

So, I bring the Christmas spirit of Santa Claus to my tablescapes and that is good enough for me.

This tablescape is the one I call the Santa Claus tablescape.

I love the rosy cheeked Santa Claus salad plates that sit atop a white ironstone dinner plate….

And those are perched atop a cherry red charger with rhinestones on the rims.

The crocheted tablecloth which belonged to my grandmother is covered by a sheer clear tablecloth featuring gold snowflakes.

The flatware is red and a set I have had for years…..not sure where I bought them.

The red napkins are white stitched on the edges…and the napkin ring is a silver snow flake.

The snow flakes on the wine glasses add to the cold “snowy” theme….

….. as do the white polar bears which have snowflakes surrounding them.  The mother and cub serve as my centerpiece.

I added a few bits of snow topped greenery and a couple pine cones.

I have a small “JOY” snow globe at each place setting…..I am really into snow globes and have many sitting around my home.

I do have more planned between now and Christmas.

One more reason to celebrate the season this year….I became a great grandmother yesterday to a healthy 7 pound little girl.  Her name is Brecken Mackenzie!!!!  Yeah!!!!!!!

I can’t wait to hold her and give her GG kisses!

(I think she needs to come down to Florida so she doesn’t have to suffer those cold, icy Kansas winters.)
