In The Pink….No Doubt about it!
Last year, and you may have already viewed it,… I came up with this tablescape closer to Easter than Valentine’s Day but it could be used for Valentine’s Day even though there are no hearts and candy.
Please bear with a repeat tablescape from last year…:)
BUT…..
I couldn’t resist….
Did you ever have an impulse that took over your resolve and more or less ordered you to follow through?
I did.
Where?
At the dollar store. The Dollar Tree to be exact.
You know the one where everything is a dollar?
Not to be confused with the Dollar General or Family Dollar where you walk in thinking you are going to find a bargain for a dollar and the price tag says $9.99?
I have learned to stay away from those unless I am looking for something I know is there and is fairly cheap.
Let me clarify that holidays are what lure me to the dollar store.
Why?
Because they have some of the cutest holiday things AND….
….and they have wonderful dishes and glasses for only a dollar.
I don’t know if you know this, but many restaurants buy their drinking glasses at the dollar store.
And sometimes I do too when I am looking for a certain theme.
So you may be asking ok, so what was this impulse you are talking about.
A little girl’s straw hat and matching bag.
Yep! The prettiest pink straw hat with a pretty little flower and a pink & white string around the brim.
The little hand bag has the same flower.
So cute!
I picked them up and thought what a cute hat and bag for Easter for a three year old little girl.
I don’t have a little girl any more.
In fact my only daughter and grand daughters are much too big for these very small accessories.
Still….I had to buy them.
“For what”? my calm innermost being reasoned.
“A tablescape!” my spur-of-the-moment being retorted.
I can use these millenary items along with the cupcake salt and pepper shaker and XXOO pink mugs that I bought at The Cracker Barrel restaurant several months ago.
AND….I have those soft pink dinner plates and salad plates I bought on sale last year at Pier 1.
And don’t forget those white, laced edged pale pink napkins I have stored in my napkin closet.
“Uh huh”! I said smugly to no one in particular in aisle two at the dollar store….and smiling ear to ear.
It will all work together for a pretty in pink tablescape for February, I thought to myself as I did a little skip dance to the check-out.
So, I plunked down my two dollars for the little Pink straw hand bag and the little pink straw hat, thanked the clerk at the register profusely, to which she replied with a quizzical look…”you’re welcome” and out the door I went.
I couldn’t wait to plan for this pretty in pink tablescape.
And no, I am not sure why this sudden urge to make everything pink around me.
We will just call it my “Pink” phase!!!
For the charger, I used my go-to chippy white charges.
I used my vintage pink flatware along with pink water glasses.
I tucked the lace-edged pink napkins into a pink ranunculus napkin ring which worked perfectly.
Then I added some mercury glass candle sticks and a few soft pink roses and smiled.
I think it was the little girl in me.
You know how I love playing with dishes.
Someday I may grow up…
but then again, maybe not!
As I said earlier, this pink tablescape was not for Valentine’s Day, but I won’t tell if you don’t. 🙂
I hope you are in the pink today and everyday!
Have a great and Blessed day!
AND Thanks for your comments~ they make my day 🙂

Way to go, Kari! I love the Dollar Tree for the very reason you raided it (that, and candy for me and Mr. P.). I gotta say, though – those little cupcake s&p are the cutest!. I like J’s idea above to use the purse as a vase – how cute! I don’t go to the DT often enough, but that’s probably a good thing. I’m in trouble enough with stash of tablewares. 🙂 It was fun tablescaping with you this week.

What a great idea! I could put a small mason jar inside and the flowers in the mason jar and I think it would be lovely.
Thank you so much for more inspiration in thinking pink.
Thanks also for stopping by.
