What is your routine each day?
I know we each have our own routine or our own way of doing things and I have to confess that I am a creature of habit.
If you follow me, you know that I am an early riser as I love the first light of day.
I enjoy watching the glow of the sun on the horizon and the most beautiful shades of pinks, blues and orange colors change with the beginning of each day.
You also know that I love music and I think of the song lyrics that goes with the song, “I can sing a rainbow”…which goes like this:
“Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow
sing a rainbow too! “
AND yes, I sing that song every time I see a rainbow in the sky which I did see yesterday.
But I digress a bit.
My routine is this:
Wake up, say good morning to my Captain if he is home, grab my wrap, make my bed, wash my face, brush my teeth, push the button on my Keurig for my hot cuppa tea and then I head to my Secret Garden along with my Bible and a Devotional.
It is my daily ritual.
If the weather is rainy…I move to the Lanai, where I curl up on the sofa or chair. This gives me the time to reflect, pray and prepare myself for the beginning of a new day.
Some times I just sit and watch the mockingbirds or mourning doves as they splash in the bird bath, letting my thoughts drift to the sounds of nature. I can always feel myself smiling…. and I know you might think I am emulating a Disney character, chatting and singing along with the small animated animals and birds.
Only this is real life, my friends.
I also call this my quiet time and if I don’t take the time to do this…I find my day takes control of me, and I always feel a day late and a dollar short.
Do you know what I am talking about?
After this simple routine, I carry my cup, (refreshed of course) and then I can shower, get dressed and finish my hair, etc.
Only then, can I open my computer and begin to tackle the emails and posts that need tended to.
This is the way I like to start my day.
I can observe the beautiful colors of the sunrise and my day begins in a happy place.
I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that once in a while, my daily routine gets interrupted.
But I go with the flow…I say to myself, this will work too.
It is all in what you have in your mindset.
You are in control of your thoughts and actions.
A time or two, I have had to improvise by having my quiet time later in the day.
It is not my preference, but it will still give me the time to reflect.
Me…outside with a cool drink, like a tall glass of lemonade…sitting in my comfy chair. Feeling the warm breeze, snacking on a treat and watching nature.
If you were here at my home, perhaps we could have coffee cake and sweet tea.
That would be good too. 🙂
But however we replenish ourselves, I feel it is important to have that special time.
We sleep to renew our bodies, so it makes sense to renew our spirits.
This verse sums it all up for me.
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through HRoim who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13

Yes… a morning routine is a must.
My sweet man delivers me a cup of coffee each morning. We snuggle as we watch The Today Show. We talk about our day to come. Sip coffee and take in the news.
I then move to our sunroom, or patio, or our front porch. Another cup of coffee while I enjoy the birds. After that quiet time… I’m ready to start the day! I love a slow morning. Not all are like that but when they are… it’s fabulous!!

My sweet man delivers my coffee to me every morning. We snuggle as we watch the Today show while we sip coffee and talk about our day. If it’s a slow day I move to the sunroom or back patio or front porch to watch the birds with my second cup of coffee. I love slow mornings!

I DO have a routine, Kari, and we are also early risers (early to bed too). Lately my routine has been just slightly askew because we are walking much earlier (6:30 or so) to beat the heat. So my morning caffeine often comes after the walk on those days. But I always eat breakfast as soon as I get up, make the bed, and go downstairs. It’s a must have for me (almost always the same thing, too). It would be a treat to enjoy early coffee with you and watch the birds. Simple pleasures!

I believe it is important to have a morning routine and I know making my bed is a priority. Walking is such a good routine to get into also. The Captain and I walked until it got too hot, but we will start back again soon. The tread mill isn’t quite the same as fresh air. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by my friend.

I really wanted to say your Bible verse was something special for me. Being content is a way of life for me, it brings me peace and so much more.
My daily routine is much like yours. I like to get up around 6:00 and start my day, usually with coffee and sitting on my patio, just taking the time to enjoy and appreciate the day. And then it is time to get my butt in gear and tackle outside watering (it is still so hot here] and inside housework.
I would love to have coffee cake and sweet tea with you!

I have noticed our humidity has been lower these last few days Linda, and that makes watering my plants so much nicer. Normally, I am sweating so much that I am wetter than the plants with the high heat and high humidity. LOL
