Folks, I had a strange and yet lovely dream about tea.
Let me explain.
I have never really liked going shopping.
I usually shop on-line as it is so much easier, the choices are vast, it is delivered to your door and I have never had to send anything back.
Garage Sales usually don’t interest me, (unless they are selling garages, OK, forgive my attempt at humor)… But my success at finding treasures at garage/yard sales hasn’t been too productive in the past.
I evidently choose the wrong sale to go to!
All I see are children’s clothes, chipped cups and saucers and a box of costume jewelry that has tangled up necklaces and mis-matched ear rings.
I can look in my own garage and see that stuff. 😉
Having said that, I do have to admit that the Captain and I have stopped at a garage sale or two.
They were never a destination. … Just an impromptu stop if we happen to see large pieces of furniture that we could possibly use when flipping houses.
So this dream of mine….had me really concerned.
Because I dreamed about going garage/yardsaling….is that even a word?
Sooooo in this dream, I have on a gossamery, gauzy, white sundress with a large straw hat with pretty pink ribbons blowing in the summer breeze.
And white gloves!
And beautiful butterflies are fluttering in and about the card tables sitting on bright green grass….each table has beautiful tea sets that are set up to show the possibilities of suggested, potential tea parties.
Probably circa 1960 if I am wearing gloves…. 🙂
There are also card tables full of beautiful white casserole dishes with bunnies and chickens and cute little pigs perched as lids.
There is nothing chipped or broken.
There are no price tags on anything….
The large sign near the driveway says “Huge Multi-Family Yard Sale”.…with a smaller sign that says “make an offer on any table”!
I notice that there is nary a makeshift clothes rack of outdated women’s wear or rickety table holding disheveled children’s clothing to be seen.
Nor is there any bent cardboard boxes holding Barbie Dolls with no clothes or little dump trucks with missing doors.
Nope!
No green little army men or Legos anywhere!
And most importantly, there is no box of costume jewelry, with a pair of purple framed sunglasses lying on top and a sign that says “a dollar bill takes it all”.
No, you see in my dream, I am strolling leisurely among the card tables, admiring the beautiful dishes, occasionally reaching out to gingerly touch and caress a piece that is lovely.
What a beautiful yard sale and I am really enjoying myself.
And then a clap of thunder resonates through my bedroom and I sit up straight in bed as rain starts pelting the windows.
I realize that I didn’t get a chance to purchase anything from that wonderful yard sale of tea sets.
Sigh…..
What a strange and pleasant and fun dream…
By the way, the pics have nothing to do with my dream other than they are tea sets.
They are from an afternoon tea party I held at my home about 4 years ago.
Thanks to my friends who attended and made that afternoon tea a very special day.
Some people say they never dream when sleeping…do you?
Have a very Blessed day.

What a beautiful tea my friend! The tea service is stunning and that cake!
I dream but only remember small snippets… maybe because I am a light sleeper.
I like garage sales but love thrift stores! I have been to several of those classic garage sales but once in a while… there is that “one” that brings me back for more. Ha Ha Ha!
Loved your tea party! Beautiful details!
Kari says
Can I tell you that cake was delish! Wish you could have been at my tea party, dear friend.
Nancy says
Oh I wish I could have been as well! 💗
Benita says
It is usually hit or miss with me at garage sales…and like you, I don’t need a lot of additional items to sit in my garage to sell at my next garage sale…LOL What a beautiful, beautiful table! I do not drink tea, hot or cold, but over the years, have collected some beautiful teapots and teacups! Have a great weekend! Love and hugs!
Kari says
thanks Benita…I guess one could call me a dreamer who happens to love tea, hot or cold….and there is never a teapot/cups that is not calling my name. hugs sweet friend.
the Painted Apron says
Well that was fun! Much better than going to a garage sale, dreaming about a pretty one instead! I’m with you Kari, I have enough junk of my own, I don’t need other peoples! I love your pink fantasy tea with the umbrella!

In one of my storage closets I have 6 pink umbrellas and a friend said…why do you need 6??? Obviously not a blogger! LOL
Everyday Living says
Kari, I have never found much at garage or yard sales. I haven’t been to one in years. Yes, I do dream, but mostly forget them. What a sweet tea you hosted a few years ago. Enjoy you weekend sweet friend!
Kari says
thanks Pam…hugs right back at ya.
Carol says
Kari, I’m the same way when it comes to garage sales. I’ve found a few goodies from our old neighborhood, but mostly I pass them by for estate sales instead. And I do dream. Many of mine have to do with school and college, either as a student or as a teacher.
Chloe Crabtree says
I am with you Kari, I don’t know that I have ever purchased one thing from a garage sale. I find the wrong ones, too!
Kari says
so glad to hear that I am not the only one. LOL
Linda says
Yes, I dream, but I mostly dream about projects I am working on. My brain sometimes does not shut down. I too really rarely go to a garage or yard sale. I never find anything good. I love reading about the fabulous finds bloggers show. Your tea party looks fabulous. Happy January Kari.
Kari says
I hear ya Linda…I have always been called a dreamer because I always have a project somewhere going on. LOL I hope your January is a great one too.

Hi Kari-
I actually have a very good friend who is a dream interpreter, of the Carl Jung psychology. She lives in Pompano Beach now, but I knew her when she lived in Maine. Deborah DeNicola – check out her facebook page:)
Kari says
Thanks Donna….when are you going up north?
