Rest!
Yes, who doesn’t like to take a nap and wake up refreshed?
In today’s world of Covid and disharmony, we need “rest” now more than ever.
People are hurting.
People are dying.
We see it every day on the news.
We try to compensate by being everything to everyone, when what we should do is so simple.
We need to rest.
God’s Word tells us what to do when we are weary and heavy laden.
During my illness, I had plenty of time to lie in bed and think.
And pray.
Sometimes my prayers would be orderly while other times I would ramble on and on, not making a cohesive prayer, …but I know God heard me.
And I would feel His presence as I bowed before Him in the stillness and darkness of my bedroom.
I would tell Him of my sorrows.
I would say ‘I can’t bear this burden anymore’ and His Word in Matthew 11:28-30 would come to me …..“for my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
You see, There is still a yoke and burden to carry, although He has made it lighter.
So if we are suffering in some way in our daily lives, we should follow the Lord and take the yoke and learn from Him.
I will admit there were times I would be in the middle of an earnest prayer, asking for strength and wisdom and discernment and I would drift off to sleep without finishing my prayer.
I rested.
He gave me rest when I needed it most.
It was a complete surrender.
God knows our every need.
He knows every loss we feel.
Psalm 56:8 tells us that God keeps track of our sorrows and collects our tears and records each and every one.
He knows every temptation, every injustice, and yes, even our desires.
And He knows our pain.
Jesus suffered incredible pain as He hung on the cross and there was a purpose which was revealed on the third day as the stone was rolled away and the tomb was empty.
My dear friends, there is purpose in our suffering, whether it be an illness or just the daily battle of what ever troubles us today.
Give that burden to God.
And He will give you rest.
All you have to do is ask Him.
Blessings Always,
Kari

Kari, I pray for you each night, have been since your first diagnosis was shared. It is heartwarming to read your reflections and be easily inspired to give our worries, tiredness and troubles to God. You are His example for us to know He will never forsake us, and will come right on time, when we need Him most.

Thank you Kari for your encouraging words! You are such an inspiration.
I need to hear your words as I tend to fret about all the unrest in our nation and Covid!
I am so happy YOU are here to give us this Inspirational and lovely post! Praise God!
Happy Sunday!
Kari says
Oh Nancy, you are right, there is so much unrest…and uncertainty….but of one thing I am very sure, God is in control !!!! We can sometimes forget that when we feel the pain of our everyday life.
We can only see a very small part of the “big picture” and if I get discouraged, I claim the promises of Revelation 21:4 .
Have a great rest of your week-end and stay healthy.

What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. Thank you Kari for your example and for sharing this post. God does carry our burdens and gives us rest. Your personal experiences are thought provoking and inspiring.
I am thankful He has brought you through your illness and is using you for His kingdom now.
May we all sit up and listen and be an example also.

Bonnie, I love to talk and for the last year and a half…I DID NOT want to talk or more to the point, I didn’t feel like talking as many of my friends found out through texting me, rather than phoning. (I didn’t feel like texting either because I would get dizzy trying to read a text)
Now that God has brought me through and to this point…I have so much to say. I want to spread the good news of His mercy and grace. I feel I am truly one of God’s walking/talking miracles. Praise His Holy name!

Kari, you are a preacher! Isn’t it wonderful. You brought me with you into your sick room. I felt your pain and the relief of sweet sleep and rest. You’re message is so heartfelt and real that even those who don’t know how to pray will find comfort.
So look forward to talking face to face again when it’s safe to travel.
Thank you for your prayer.
