February, She Definitely Has A Heart of Love…And More!
My dear readers, this is the second in my series on the months of the year. The first was January of course and if you missed it, you can take a look here.
I ended the lady known as January with a bit of a tease….
….In describing the upcoming month of February, I said….
……”she may be brief and perhaps notoriously fierce, but she is the only month with a heart in the middle,….. you know her, I’m sure”!
Actually, everyone knows this lady….and I especially love this short month of February…because she allows my romantic nature to run wild and rampant.
The roses in the above pic are from the Captain…and I really like the vintage cards I found on-line. The one above is one of 12 different cards….and the book is a diary that was written in 1906. Luv it! Luv it! Luv it!
Let’s talk about February.
Her name comes from the Roman word “Februare”, which means purification.
In ordinary years, she has only 28 days…but in order to keep our calendars in sync, Miss February adds another day once every four years. It is called leap year. This is her way of helping out her fellow single ladies by setting aside a special day for a proposal of marriage, to go forth to those handsome, charming men who haven’t the courage to propose.
See? She is very clever isn’t she?
Speaking of clever, she can also be quite devious.
Some think she can take this remembrance thing a bit too far.
OK, I give you that she is stimulating, adventurous and even provocative.
And….deep in that beautiful heart, she thinks she is pretty special and beloved by all.
She loves fluttering Cupid around…
However, this chubby little baby with angel wings has a purpose and he doesn’t carry around a quiver of arrows for nothing. 🙂
Of course there are those that are turned off by her overpowering personality…some feel they are pressured to buy flowery greeting cards or chocolates or long stemmed roses.
Some even feel that Valentine’s Day is a day made popular by Greeting Card companies.
Altho we know there was a St. Valentine.
But let’s move on to a bit of trivia about this lady.
Even though one would think red roses are the flowers of February….tis not true.
The flower for February is the violet or or perhaps you know it as the pansy.
The birthstone is the beautiful amethyst, which symbolizes piety, humility, spiritual wisdom and sincerity.
Yes, February takes on many forms.
One thing is for sure…she is here but briefly …but while here, she makes herself well known.
How do I feel about this lady known as February?
If you have read any of my stories, I think you already know the answer to that.
I love her!
The next installment of my series on the months of the year will most likely be coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb.
Yep, you know March as a month of diversity….but do you classify March as male or female?
Until then!
Have a great day and enjoy this short month.

Dear Kari,
I’m so glad you are up to writing your blog again. I love February, but maybe for a very different reason than you do. I love the chance to stay inside and read instead of running around all the time. Right now we have snow on the ground, and the temperatures are frigid. I love it. lol
Love you tons,
Sandy

Brrrrrrr Sandy, and I agree with curling up with a good book….you know how I love to read and I know you do too. It has actually been much cooler down here of late. It was 41 degrees this morning and for me that is COLD! I just had to hunker down in my wooly socks and flannel gown. LOL High today is 69. Tomorrow it will be 72 again…Yay!
I’ll watch the snow from my snow globe thank you. Hahaha
Hope to see you soon dear friend.
Hugs and Blessings.
