I made flower pot place cards for our upcoming Thanksgiving Dinner and they were really simple to make. All you need is one bunch of silk (or your choice) flowers with the appropriate number of stems for the number of guests you will be having. I chose a Gerbera daisy but you can choose whatever flower goes with your theme. You will need a Styrofoam rectangle and Spanish moss. The Styrofoam is approximately $1.29 and the moss is $.99. You will also need little terracotta pots. I believe the pots can be found for $.69, and sometimes they are on sale for less. I happen to have these things on hand as most crafters do, but you can find any materials at your local craft store.
Cut the strofoam to the size of your pot. Cut a stem of flowers from the “bunch”” of flowers.
Use a skewer or something similar to start the hole in the strofoam. It makes inserting the flower stem easier.
Then insert the flower and use the moss as a base by tucking it in all around your flower.
Make a name tag from a stencil on line or just use a piece of construction paper. You can attach with a hole punch and ribbon to the flower pot or hot glue the tag on the front of the flower pot. I like to let my guests take home the flower pot name tag if they like.
Let your imagination run wild and you will be able to come up with even better ideas!!
Until tomorrow
