Good Morning everyone!
I like to tell you about any new gadgets (or old gadgets) that get the job done.
Have you ever wanted to reheat pizza or french fries only to find they just don’t reheat well? I quit saving left over pizza and fries and other crispy foods because the taste just was awful….in my opinion.:)
However, I have found something that really works to reheat fries and believe it or not, they crisp up…sometimes even better than the first time around.
It is a simple little screen that you place on the oven rack (I put foil underneath to catch any drips) and reheat the pizza or fries or whatever you have that was once crisp and now is limp and soggy.
This is what it looks like. I have black granite counters so I placed it on a plate on my cutting board so you could see it. It is about 12 inches by 10 inches and the next pic is holding it on the side rather than laying it down. As you can see, it is not elaborate…just a screen, but it works!
I have used it to reheat pizza, french fries, fried chicken, tater tots, pretty much any type of crispy finger food! It is for reheating only. I have not put frozen french fries on it, not sure if that would work. Although I have put fries on a sheet pan and baked them that way.
I made fried chicken wings for the Captain and I last night…it was our sports game night! The Kansas Jayhawks played Texas Tech and the Jayhawks won! Yeah!
We are such a sports family…college basketball, professional football and professional baseball…so our meals are mostly finger foods on the nights or afternoons we watch games.
I like to make different sauces that I set out, such as blue cheese, hot sauce, teriyaki, etc. We also had a garden salad to make the meal more healthy! 😉
Lunch today was left overs and I put the chicken wings on the screen and reheated them. Simply yummy! Just spread them out (not touching) and set the oven to 325 degrees for about 10 minutes….check them often for heating through and crispiness.
I just popped them on the screen and into the oven…note the foil to protect the bottom of the oven from drips through the holes. I don’t need to clean the oven just to have crisp chicken wings. 🙁
And this is me eating one of the crispy wings…yummy, and not the least bit soggy! Still crispy. I wish I could share with you…No, I can not tell a lie….The Captain and I will most likely clean up these left overs ourselves.
Won’t be a bone left to pick!
I am sure you could find these on line if you are interested, and I have seen them at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Try it…it is a cheap way to heat left overs that taste like you just made them.
