Remember the game One potato, two potato, three potato four? I always think of that little “diddy” when I visit our Farmers Market every Saturday morning!
I am not sure what your weather is like where you are…or if you have fresh vegetable markets to go to this time of year…
So, I invite you to come along with me…..lets go shopping!
I like to go early…about 7 ish, so sometimes it might feel a little cool, so bring a light jacket if you must. It is a beautiful Saturday Morning…72 degrees with a cool breeze. I have my shopping bags, my hat and of course my leopard bill fold! 🙂
There is the familiar Farmers Market sign….no big splashy signs needed….just follow the crowd.
Organically grown produce, fresh artisan bread and flowers straight from the nursery gardens that are so abundant here in Florida.
Tomatoes to sample? You betcha! 🙂
Giant radishes? Absolutely! Large sweet onions and Leeks.
By the way, the first time I went to the Farmers Market….I thought all the produce was on steroids!
Seriously, I couldn’t believe how large the produce was.
I asked the growers what they did to produce such large radishes…they made the radishes in the super market look like they were marbles. (small marbles at that) 🙂
Parsley and cilantro….definitely on a cook’s must have list!
Green Chiles and Jalapeno peppers…the green chiles are not as hot as in Hatch New Mexico…but they still do the job!
Don’t ya love the tropical sounds of the marimba? It makes buying mangos a treat!
Or lemon and limes? Small? They are the size of most lemons! Of course the lemons here are very large compared to store bought!
Lots of aisles to go down….there are a lot of sno-birds here this time of year….(another reason for going early in the day) come on, don’t lag behind…we don’t want to miss a thing! 🙂
I love the fresh flowers….we have to buy a bunch…the white carnations with a tinge of green will last longer than the roses…let’s get in line for flowers!
gotta have a couple giant sunflowers…they remind me of Kansas Farmlands.
Green beans please…..the Captain loves Green beans!
Hmmmm…..such large strawberries…only need one basket to make strawberry shortcake…you will stay for dinner won’t you?
Sorry, the blueberry pictures are a little blurry…did you bump my arm? that’s ok…we are having a great time, what is a little bump between friends?
don’t ya just love the displays? I want to buy a tub of everything….but I won’t!
White radishes….and scallions…..organically grown of course!
We must stop at the artisan breads….I really like this vendor…..
It always smells sooooo good here, doesn’t it?
People are serious about this Farmers Market…look at the lady with her roll around case….they also have purses and lots of other things on this side…..jewelry etc….but only on the third Saturday of each month.
Did you have fun? I know I did…we will need to do this again sometime….I will think of you as I prepare my treasures!
Enjoy your Saturday!

I was going to send this blog to my hubby because he would love this stroll in the market, and he loves Florida. Then I thought, I can’t do that, he would want me to cook fresh vegetables all the time like you do. lol I’m a Kansas farm gal, but I never really got into all the cooking. Grin!

I know what you mean, Donna….when I take Jesse, I don’t get much shopping done…he loves all the other dogs!
We will look for you next time….if the Captain is along, we sometimes go to breakfast or just for a coffee somewhere.
Thanks for stopping by my Blog.

Cocoa and I go most Saturdays, particularly to buy some flowers from Hunter, the flower man. He has buckets for Cocoa to drink from and there are masses of people who come up and say, “Can I, (or my daughter, etc.) pat your dog?” He’s in heaven.
