Kitten, Gecko and Jesse Update!
This morning, I was doing my usual thing….which is having my private time in my Secret Garden..slowly sipping on a cup of hot tea, when I noticed a gecko trying to “flirt” with a female gecko.
You may ask how I know he from she….and it is relatively simple.
He…sports a bright red spot on the under-throat and when he is “flirting”…he expands it!
She…on the other hand is pretty plain jane, as is the case in a lot of the animal kingdom.
I wonder why it is different with us humans where the female is usually the flashier of the species?
You might disagree with that if you saw me today in my Kansas City Royals T-Shirt that has seen better days…. and a pair of faded stop-just-below-the-knee crop pants, flip-flops and my hair is pulled back in a funny looking pony tail. (In case you are wondering….the Captain is flying this week) 😉
Back to the geckos…these little creatures are fascinating to watch.
In Florida, the geckos are great little bug catchers…so they are a good thing to have around.
We do have quite a few geckos around the outside of our home, although I have not seen any of them selling insurance…yet!
I told a close friend that I thought I saw a gecko with a little briefcase the other day…but it was only a leaf! 🙂
I don’t know if the little male gecko finally won the little female over, because they scurried away to “flirt” discreetly in the bushes. 😉
I am sure if “kitty kitty” (our little rescue kitten) had been out there…she would have spoiled any “flirtation” .
She is growing quickly…as most kittens do…and she is using her skills to attack almost anything that moves.
Sometimes it is my ankles…but most often than not…it is Jesse James!
At first Jesse was intrigued by this mysterious black and white kitten…but now he has decided that he will call the shots on how long to play and when it is time to rest.
As you can see from the photos…Jesse got a haircut…and I do mean a haircut!
He lost all his glorious locks when the groomer took me too literally and “made him cool for summer” !
Now he looks like a teddy bear whereas before he looked like a white Persian cat! 😉
Jesse is saying “I have had enough…go play somewhere else”
Do you enjoy watching animals?
In addition to the geckos and the kitten and Jesse…I could sit for hours watching all the birds that come to the feeders and especially the beautiful cardinals…. fluffing and bathing in our bird bath!
It is the little things…isn’t it?
Have a great Tuesday!
