2015, A New Year…
For me, I am in awe that the year is 2015!
I sat in my Secret Garden this morning, reflecting on past New Years Days. (As we age, we reflect more and more) 😉
For some reason, January 1st of the year 2000, came to mind…that was the year of the predicted Doomsday, Y2K, or the Millennium Bug as some chose to call it…and I had to smile.
For those who may not remember, …everyone in the world was concerned with the predicted, massive computer outage that supposedly would result because computer programmers used two digits to encode the year on all date fields.
Supposition was this would cause computer programs to default to January 1, 1900 and every algorithm that relied on “dates” would fail, causing a domino effect with every computer system in the world “crashing”.
People made so many preparations…storing supplies and cancelling travel as they prepared for the worst.
But as we all are aware…the morning of January 1st, 2000, was pretty much like any other New Years Day. Computers seem to “adjust”.
So, as I sat there this morning, watching the birds drink and fluff themselves in the birdbath…
I began flipping through my bible and the “notes” that I have jotted down over the years.
(if you are like me, the blank pages in the front and the back of my Bible, are filled with notes, poems and scripture notes).
Re-reading all these notes gives me an inner peace …as the world whirls around in uncertainty.
I would like to share a few of them with you as we begin this brand new year.
“You only really believe that which activates you.”
“Begin the day with prayer and you will end it with praise.”
“God’s answers are always wiser than our prayers.”
“Peace rules the day when Christ rules the heart.”
“If we worry, we can’t trust…if we trust, we can’t worry!”
I also have the little “prompt” written in my Bible.
And one of my favorite verses is Philippians 4: 6,7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And all the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
I pray for a Blessed and Joyful and Prosperous year for you, my dear readers.
Philippians 1:3 “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you”.
Happy New Year 2015 from Me and My Captain!

Thank you Candis for your faithfulness in being my friend. Many years have passed, but you remain steadfast and I so appreciate you.
Last evening, the Captain and I went out for ice cream and my thoughts drifted to the times you, Noel and Jennifer (and sometimes Noel’s folks) would meet up in Liberty and we would “indulge” in that wonderful treat.
As I said, I believe we reflect more as we age. 😉
Thank you for your comments…on a subject we both love.

Happy New Year to you and the Captain, Kari.
I remember January 1, 2000 very well. The scary thing is that there may be someone out there capable of doing what we feared back then.
I pray every day for husband to keep his eyesight and that I keep my mind. Thank you for this blog, Kari.

Thank you Sandy for stopping by….Yes, January 2000 was a bit scary and uncertain …but I thank God for He is the same yesterday, today, and always….and we can rely on that. I pray for you and your family, my friend.
I care.
