How Fast The Years Fly By…..
This picture is of four generations….Baby Mitchell Everett, Little Mommie, Only Daughter and GG…(Great Grandma)
Am I really that old? 😉
However, today is not about grand babies….
Today is Only Daughter’s Birthday.
I just love that sentiment…because it is sooooo true.
And now my daughter has two daughters of her own, ….so she really understands Motherhood!
And she is a great Mother, I might add.
She has far more patience than I had. 🙂
I have always enjoyed our time together.
Several times she and my grand daughters would drive to New Mexico to stay with me… and I would drive them to points of interest.
Sky City, Mesa Verde, Ice Caves, Indian Ruins….etc.
I remember a “day” trip we took to the 4 Corners Monument area of New Mexico.
I was driving the car …..Only Daughter sat shotgun… and my two grand daughters… were strapped in the back seat.
I had told them that the trip would be a short one….just a couple hours from our home near Albuquerque.
I had actually visited the monument several times, so I just “guessed” at how long it would take to drive there.
We started off in mid morning.
And I drove…and drove…and drove….and drove!
I would glance at my Only Daughter (feeling very apologetic about the time it was taking) …and I would say…”it shouldn’t be too much longer”.
You couldn’t say the scenery was beautiful to see because there were just lots of sage brush and very few villages along that road.
Only Daughter would just smile at me, ….slowly shake her head and say “I’m not saying a word”.
(By this time the grand daughters were asleep in the back seat.)
BUT I will never forget Only Daughter’s reaction to this journey that was supposed to take a couple hours….which in reality took a little over 5 hours…one way! 🙂
She was so trusting….so kind…so sweet.
I have always loved spending time with my Only Daughter.
Whether it be sipping cool drinks on a warm day or just catching up on news.
The miles prevent us from daily visits…but she is always in my heart…and she always will be.
We Facetime or Skype or Vonage, or text…or, just talk on the phone. 🙂
Only Daughter quit her day job to spend her days baby sitting her new grandson (and my great grandson)….and she is having a ball.
I wish I were there with her on this special day….but, I will be seeing her next month.
Happy Birthday my Only Daughter….you are indeed a beautiful person and you will be in my thoughts on this special day!
I love you….
Proud to be your Mom!

I feel the same love for my daughter; although she would not be so sweet about my taking her on a road trip like that. She would have double checked my guesstimates and then have been quick and ready to tell me of my faults. Now that she is a mother, she is more forgiving, but still holds me to an impossible standard…(my opinion, probably not hers!)

Daughters are wonderful aren’t they Donna? I have sons but the relationship with a daughter is special. 🙂
