Jason’s Deli

Jason’s Deli!

Do you like soup and sandwiches?

I grew up on a sandwich and soup for lunches and I still enjoy that combo to this day.

I think my favorite… growing up was tomato soup and grilled cheese…I liked dunking each bite of my sandwich in my soup….ok, I am weird.

One reason… I believe my Mother chose this combo was because both the sandwich and the soup was an easy fix.

The Captain and I really like Jason’s Deli…true, it is a chain…and can be found almost anywhere.  It was founded in 1976 in Beaumont, Texas!

Occasionally. the Captain and I like to go to Jason’s Deli for lunch and we have found the food is always fresh and the flavor delish!

The Turkey Cranwich is a seasonal sandwich which I happen to love.

This is the Turkey Cranwich …..smoked turkey, red onion and cranberries on 9 grain artisan bread with lots of greens!

…and I like to couple it with the baked potato soup, topped of course, with bacon and cheese… and …well, it makes my day!

The Captain had a lighter lunch on this particular day…

Another great sandwich is Johnny Cashew’s Smoked Pork with Cashew butter and Pepper jelly! Yum!

Do you my dear readers, have a Jason’s Deli in your area?

And if so, what are your thoughts? Do you have a favorite soup and sandwich?

Right now, I am going to put on a pot of soup…I’ll post the recipe later…The Kansas Jayhawks play tonight and there will be fellow Jayhawk fans in the house!

Enjoy this beautiful, wonderful day….

  1. There is a Jason’s Deli here in Lake Charles, La. I had the Johnny Cashew’s Smoked Pork with Cashew butter and Pepper jelly last Monday and it was so awesome! I ordered it without the onions because I don’t eat them. I plan to have it again ASAP! lol

    1. Jason’s Deli simply has good sandwiches don’t they Kari? Glad to hear you have a Deli close to you.

  2. There is a Jason’s almost in the backyard of your former KC home. I agree whole hearted with your review of food, service, freshness and clean atmosphere. Plus the soft serve is a nice little something sweet with which to end the meal. We used to go there fairly often. I love the gigantic Rueben with a side of horseradish – half to eat there half to take home. We always had a meal for the next day at home. Glad you gave them a shout out.

Tomato soup right out of the can and toasted cheese are my very favorite comfort food.

    1. Thanks Annie…..so glad to hear from you. You are always in my thoughts. 🙂 Diane, Jane and you should come visit us!
We love the Rueben at Jason’s Deli too….and the Captain and I usually split it for our lunch. It is huge!
And I have to confess…I love the little gingerbread “rounds” dipped in the soft ice cream.;)

  3. cranberries and brie cheese is a seasonal sandwich favorite..

However, I’m with you on this one… you just can’t beat a mug of Tomato soup with a toasted cheese sandwich… yummy..

I used to make and freeze piles of cheese and onion sandwiches for the dinghy sailing club (way way back in time) and they were perfect for throwing into the sandwich toaster and serving to the frozen wet sailors… with a mug of soup (or I’m owning up that my preference at that time was a hot toddy of rum and blackcurrant…)

hugs from across the pond…. snow pending… but not with me yet…

    1. What a great idea to freeze the sandwiches….I will have to try that sometime in the near future….
I have to confes,s my dear friend from across the pond, I like the idea of the hot toddy on any Seas!

  4. Yes, we have a Jason’s Deli near us, but it’s not Ron’s favorite place to go to. lol I’m fixing tomato soup and grilled cheese tonight, but I fix it because it’s warm. Brrr! It’s cold here.

    1. Those two are always a great choice when it is cold and dreary, isn’t it Sandy? Thanks for stopping by
