The other evening, I was on a convo (text conversation for those of you who do not speak “techie”)
Ok, I am not a “teckie” either…and the language I speak is strictly my own which may or may not be a good thing.
Or understandable, as the Captain has sometimes said…
…“you are comparing apples to oranges”…
to which I reply, always with a smile…
….”I am still in the orchard!”

But none-the-less, my only daughter, beautiful grand daughter #3, Twin # 1 and I were texting.
I know, I know! No one has the time to actually talk on the phone these days.
So they text.
That way, they can look at the text at their leisure or when they have the time and respond at their leisure or when they have the time.
Can’t do that with a phone call. A phone call requires immediate responses and listening closely.
ANYWAY….we were talking texting about cinnamon rolls.
Yes, yummy, ooey, gooey home made cinnamon rolls, so imagine my surprise when a Sno-Bird friend of mine from Sweden, I call her Ingrid because she reminds me of Ingrid Bergman and she is from, well, she is from Sweden…duh! (The duh is more of “my teckie talk”) 🙂
….Anyway, Ingrid dropped by my home last week and she brought a plate of delicious Cream Cheese Breakfast Rolls for us to share while sipping on our hot tea and catching up on all the news from her homeland and of course the election here in the United States!
Which is my way of telling you to get out and vote today, Election Day! Every vote counts and it is our civic duty to exercise the privilege that so many of our people have fought and died for! The Captain and I voted early. We voted this past Saturday and it didn’t take long at all. God Bless America!
Of course, Ingrid was only semi interested in America’s Election. I think she was more amused at all the controversy but we won’t go into that. Today, that will end with the election of a new President.
So let us talk Breakfast Rolls.
Yummy, ooey, gooey cream cheese breakfast rolls.
They were still warm, fresh out of the oven and I couldn’t get the hot tea made fast enough.
As I bit down into the light and airy breakfast roll, I asked Ingrid if this was an old family recipe.
Imagine my surprise when she said the recipe came off the tube of crescent rolls she had bought at the supermarket.
Ok, no major secrets given away here but the rolls are a must try the next time you want to toss together something warm and cozy for that hot cup of coffee on an early, foggy Autumn day.
Have a great day and a blessed week.
- 2 cans of crescent rolls
- 1 8 oz package of cream cheese softened at room temp
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla
- 1 teaspoon sour cream
- 1 cup powdered (confectioner) sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 tablespoon softened butter
- Preheat the oven to 350.
- Carefully open the can of crescent rolls as you want the dough to remain in a cylinder form.
- Do not unroll or separate.
- Using a serrated knife, slice the dough into 1/4 inch thick slices as these slices become your rolls.
- Place the slices on a cookie sheet and gently make an indentation in the center of each roll for the cream cheese filling.
- Mix together the cream cheese, white sugar, lemon juice, vanilla and sour cream in a medium sized bowl and place a tablespoon of cream cheese filling into the indentation of each roll.*
- Bake for 15 - 20 minutes.
- Let Rolls cool for about 10-15 minutes before adding the icing.
- Make the icing by mixing the powdered sugar, milk and butter and use to spoon or drizzle over the tops of the cooled or warm breakfast rolls.
- *You may substitute your favorite pie filling either along with your cream cheese mixture or separately. Cherry, Apple, Peach work well if you place the fruit filling in first and then the cream cheese or leave the cream cheese out completely.
Please comment, I'd love to hear from you.
