You Know I Love Movies…..Need I Say More?
Well, there is more…I also love the Captain with his twinkling blue eyes!
So what has one to do with the other?
Let me explain.
I love Romance and Knights in Shining Armor and mysteries and I am a sucker for old Westerns, particularly John Wayne westerns.
I’m a Happily-Ever-After kind of gal!
I love to watch the guy get the girl and puppy dogs and little bluebirds pulling on Snow White’s apron and Agatha Christie mysteries and a cowboy riding off into the sunset.
In other words…Chick flicks, Disney, westerns and mysteries.
But a few weeks ago, the movie I saw was “The Great Wall”.
Yikes!!!!
The whole thing revolves around the premise that every 60 years, a horde of mythical beasts known as the Tao Tei attack China.
To keep them out, and to protect the mainland of China from their onslaught, that, …wait for it…..
……….the movie says, ……was the real reason behind the The Great China Wall’s erection.
Yeah, right!
So to continue…
These creatures had huge mouths and pointed teeth and they attacked the Wall with a vengeance.
There were so many of them and of course it was a challenge to find their vulnerable spot to end their creepy lives and the endless attacks at all hours of the night.
But, I smiled.
And acted like it was the greatest movie I’d ever seen.
Because I’m married to the sweetest man who totes all the food and decor into the church each month and re-arranges all the tables and chairs. He never lets our 5 gallon water bottle run out of water while he is flying and he sees to it that all the batteries in the smoke detectors are replaced in the Spring and Fall. Not to mention he willingly grabs the paint brush or hammer as needed for fixes around our home, and finally, he puts up with me during March Madness!
…….and he thinks that mythical beasts make the most exciting action movies!
I would say it is true love when one sits through a movie filled with hoards and hoards of mythical creatures and Chinese soldiers (with the help of two mercenaries) who are willing to sacrifice their lives by going over and down the Great Wall to fight amidst overwhelming odds of a continuing onslaught of toothy, lizard-y, canine-ish, lion-ish, dragon-ish creatures!
Sigh!!!
The things we do for love.
Please comment, I'd love to hear from you.
