Good Morning chocolate pie!
No, I am not giving you all a pet name (as I do most people)…I am seriously having this piece of chocolate pie for breakfast!
I am sure my mother would have had something to say about eating pie for breakfast.
But ya know…the holiday is over and here we are at the week-end…..
……and there is chocolate pie in the fridge.
And it is calling my name.
Hear it?????
Listen closely to your foods my friends.
Yum!
At this point you are saying to yourself…food talking???
OKAY, my food doesn’t really talk to me, but it kinda does when I open the fridge and that last piece of chocolate pie is waiting there…..
….tempting me!
I am sure you remember my story about chocolate meringue pie.
You see, here in SW Florida….no one has heard of putting meringue on a chocolate pie.
WITH the exception of lemon meringue pie.
Everyone has heard of lemon meringue pie, but not banana meringue pie or coconut meringue pie or butterscotch meringue pie.
They…and you know who “they” are, slap whipped cream all over their cream pies.
In the midwest, we make meringue pies and save the whipped cream for gingerbread or strawberry shortcake.
That being said, meringue takes a little time to prepare and perhaps it is easier to dollop cool whip or spray the whipped cream out of a can on top of pies.
In fact I did just that one day when I was in a hurry to get my chocolate pie on the table.
And I have been known to not put any topping on a chocolate pie.
In the pie above, I used a frozen pie shell, a pudding and pie filling box, added milk, cooking the filling until thick.
If I have the time, I like to make my pie fillings from scratch as they just taste better, in my opinion.
But in a pinch….do whatever it takes.
Dear friends…do you put meringue or whipped cream on your cream pies?
I have a great chocolate pie recipe made with meringue here. In case you missed it or would like to take a look at it.
Perhaps you have a favorite recipe you would like to share.
Here is another mystery.
It has been raining off and on all week, usually thunderstorms developing in late afternoon but there have been a few early morning showers and today is no exception.
It is always amazing to me how it can rain in one’s front yard, but the back remains dry.
Hmmmmmmm.
Excuse me while I eat my pie. 🙂
Have a great day and Blessings Always.

Yes please! Meringue on my pie. Oh the wonderful pies I got to eat in my younger days. However, rarely made by me. This has made me want one so maybe I’ll bake again.

Oh Nancy…so glad you are a meringue foodie too…when I mention it to restaurants that bake pies here in SW Florida…they look at me like I am strange! Well, I may be strange but not when it comes to meringue pies. LOL….I tell them it is no different than lemon meringue which they know and usually have in their pie cases, but I guess they think meringue is only for lemon pies. 🙁

Well, sometimes we just have to clean out the fridge, right?? 😂 All your pie versions look incredibly tempting!
