OK, lets talk freebies and organization.
You might ask yourself what has one to do with the other?
OK, Have you ever….
Have you ever, for instance, gone to a convention or read up on Google, or sat in the doctor’s waiting room reading the newest, latest and greatest tips for getting organized and thought to yourself…I can or should do “that”, whatever the “that” is.
OK, confession time, my friends.
I just came back from a convention that had so many amazing ideas, tips, tricks and freebies.
All kinds of good information, that my little ole’ brain felt a definite overload.
So if I had one thing to take back from this meeting of like minds…it would be to be more organized, which also includes the sorting of the freebies.
One of the classes had amazing ideas on spread sheets (free app) for keeping any business (or your personal book keeping) completely organized.
Easier said than done right?
Speaking of organization, I did manage to unpack my clothes after returning home, so I’m sure to get a star for that.
However, I have not turned on the clothes washing machine! I am sure there is a demerit there somewhere.
It isn’t that I don’t know how to flip a button or switch, I am waiting for more clothes to add to the washer.
Uh huh! Yeah! Sure! That’s it!
I did manage to get the “swag stuff” (or freebies) bag into my office.
It is still sitting there ready to be unpacked.
I am determining where I will put the new “stuff” or if I should toss or give away most of it right away instead of waiting until next year.
I’m keeping it real here folks.
I know you know what I am talking about.
It is like going through the agricultural barn at the state fair with your tote bag and loading it up with all the freebies.
For instance, the hand fan with big red letters advertising ACE hardware or the key chains being handed out by the window and door booth.
You take it because it is cute and has a tiny led light on the end of it.
Yep! We just take the freebies, not considering just how many key chains can one use and knowing it will probably get tossed in the junk drawer at home with all the other key fobs from other events of years past.
Only, most of this “Swag stuff” had been hand chosen by a team and put in the tote bag for you.
So there was no choice of saying “no thank you” to anyone in particular, although I did give a couple children’s items to our maid service lady when we checked out of our hotel room.
Of course, there are always at least one or two items that are worth the heavy lifting of yet another bag to carry around, that is before you are able to deposit the “loot” in your hotel room.
That being said, the remainder of the “loot” is still in the bag sitting in my office.
Speaking of which, I added a little color (red and white flowers in a pitcher) to my desk before I left town, so I would come home to a pleasant room.
That is always the best part of going away.
I love to come home to a clean and tidy house with flowers, albeit faux flowers to greet me.
Do you make sure your house is all in order before you leave on a trip?
I have always done that because of one silly reason.
Say I get sick or am in a minor accident and I have to ask a friend to go to my house and “fetch” my purple house slippers with the puppy dog on the toes.
I don’t want anyone to go into my home and see dirty dishes in the sink, laundry on the floor or newspapers strewn all over the living room.
I know, I know.
I don’t throw laundry on the floor.
I have a laundry chute and as for the newspapers…they are stacked nicely on a stool by my chair.
But you may find dirty dishes in the sink if I have not had time to put them in the dishwasher.
Just sayin’
But I digress.
Do you ever go to conventions or exhibits and come home with more stuff to find room for?
It is kinda redundant when you go to a class on organization and yet, you bring it all home.
Or do you refuse the freebies to begin with?
Just askin’
Inquiring minds want to know.
Oh, and this picture was hanging on the wall of our hotel room and I thought it was pretty.
It has nothing to do with this post and no, I didn’t take it as a freebie! LOL
And this pic?
I took it on our way to breakfast this morning to show that only in Florida could the sun be rising and yet it be pouring down rain.
This is a freebie for you my dear readers.
Hugs and Blessings!

Good morning Kari. I love reading your thoughts this morning while drinking my coffee. I am in the process of cleaning, purging, and organizing. Yesterday I threw away a huge file folder of vacation pamphlets from trips long ago. It felt good to toss them in the trash. If I get one more tote bag from a conference, I might scream. Wishing you a wonderfully blessed day!

I agree Pam…once we finally let go we have such a feeling of accomplishment, but for some reason, I like to hang on to a widget that I perhaps may one day use. However, I can go through life without needing that widget, as it sits and collects dust…until, yep until I toss it and then I find several uses for it. LOL Thanks for stopping by.

I know Haven was amazing! It’s always a great feeling to come home full of ideas! I am always striving to be more organized, and I really need to do some serious purging 🙂

Don’t we all Jenna….I don’t care how organized we can be, somewhere in our lives we have clutter. Right now it is my lingerie drawer, and….fill in the blank. LOL
