Who doesn’t love good ole’ Charlie Brown?
I watch his antics every chance I get and I am always hoping Lucy sets and holds the football for him and she doesn’t snatch it away at the last minute.
The eternal optimist is who I am.
Before I get into my Christmas tablescape, I must tell you of my progress in healing and getting back to normal.
I have started cooking (with the Captain’s help) and have done a small amount of cleaning. By that I mean, I do a little here and a little there….before I grow tired and need to plant myself in a chair. LOL But the point is, God is bringing me along nicely. i have started a gratitude journal and it has really helped me to appreciate every day of my life, and I am especially grateful for each and every one of you my dear sweet friends.
Thank you for being you.
Now let’s talk about Charlie Brown.
Even though I didn’t care much about watching TV last Christmas, I heard the networks decided against showing the TV shows of the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and Christmas.
How disappointing.
Charles Schultz has always had wonderful messages for kids and adults in these television shows.
The good news is Charlie Brown is back on network TV this year.
Yay!
And I just had to set a tablescape for Charlie and his friends.
The centerpiece is animated with Charlie Brown and Snoopy standing by Snoopy’s dog house, (note Woodstock perched on the roof)…and they are dancing as several Christmas songs play and the lights blink.
I placed the centerpiece on a white fluffy Christmas tree skirt.
I know not an ideal “snow bank”, but it was handy and it worked.
The plate stack features Charlie and his friends, Snoopy, Lucy and Linus.
I used red flatware and red napkins with a green crochet trim.
And I had to set up a hot cocoa bar for the kids to sip after a cold day playing in the snow.
There are marshmallows, peppermint, chocolate chips and cocoa mix….All in the canisters I ordered on line from Dillards.
Yum!
Remember I told you that my office had become a dumping ground during my illness?
Well, I have been SLOWLY getting it back to normal too.
It still has a long way to go, but I am seeing items I haven’t seen in a long, long time and it is like being with old friends. LOL
Hello Santa shakers!
Hello Snowmen shakers!
i think only a blogger can understand this attachment to inanimate objects.
Hello slightly warped wooden three tier stand!
Okay, I am a bit goofy, but I don’t care. LOL
I shouldn’t admit this, but the candy canes are definitely for looks only. I don’t know how “old” they are. 🙁
My office was a treasure trove of red and white items.
I found the red and white candy cane candles, and the Santa salt and pepper shakers, etc… and placed them on the three tier stand.
At each place setting, I placed the “Joy” snow globes (from my messy, soon to be neat and tidy office) and then I decided that drinking glasses would be too formal for Charlie Brrown and the gang…so they each received red plastic cups.
I love the 2 Santa and 2 Nutcracker mugs.
I also ordered them a few weeks ago and I was so excited to get them.
It was like opening presents on Christmas day.
Imagine my surprise when Dillards accidentally sent me the exact same order a few days later!
Of course I called them and returned the order.
Although….later I kinda wished I would have sent payment and kept them as four of each mug would have been nice to have.
Oh well, this will give me an opportunity to collect different facial Santa and Nutcracker mugs.
Variety!!
I want to thank Chloe from celebrate and decorate for putting this hop together, She is one amazing lady and a good friend of mine.
Be sure to visit the other tablescapes listed below.

Hi Kari, I hope you have an amazing Christmas with you lovely Captain Tom and your family. I was so happy to read your blog as it was such a comfort to see your progress in recovery. The table setting was gorgeous. The Snoopy theme was a reminder to one of my first ambitious birthday cakes, 30+ years ago when the gang topped one of my daughter’s cake.
I’m sorry this is a little late for Christmas greetings but life is bizarre at the moment, but still sprinkled with joyous and thankful moments, like your blog and the first Christmas for my new granddaughter Remy.❤️
My warmest hugs and love to you Kari and please remember you give so many people joy and hope.
Best wishes for 2021 may all your dreams come true.
Stay safe.
Much love from across the pond. Ross

Kari, your Charlie Brown tablescape is adorable and brings back many happy childhood memories. My brother and I would always watch the Charlie Brown specials on prime time TV…it was a treat that we looked forward to each year. I used to tease my brother and call him Charlie Brown because he often had bad luck. Now my 7 year old daughter has discovered the Peanuts and she enjoys them, too. I love how you styled the table with hot cocoa fixins. Any child would be delighted to have a seat here! The canisters look like one of my favorite things – vintage enamelware 🙂
Having you back styling tables and feeling stronger is a joy and a blessing! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season with the Captain and your family.
Mary says
Kari, How wonderful you are feeling a little more energetic…take baby steps! Your table is darling, I love the tree skirt as a snow back and who doesn’t love Charlie Brown? The canister is so festive and perfect to pair with your Hot Cocoa Station. So happy to be hopping with you! Merry December ♥
P.S. I have a stash of candy canes of unknown age I use for decorating with too 🙂
Barbara at Mantel and Table says
What a darling table Kari – I love Charlie Brown! And so glad you’re feeling better and able to join Chloe’s hop. It’s been so much fun to get to know you and your blog! Take care and thanks for all the red and white inspiration!

You can’t go wrong with Charlie Brown and I never tire of his Christmas special. You have had your share of challenges in 2020, but you seem to have met them well with your positive attitude.
Chloe Crabtree says
That optimistic attitude has served you well good friend! I am filled with such joy reading your blog and hearing how you are getting back to doing things. I don’t think I need to tell you to not overdo it and take your time, but do remember that! Your sweet Charlie Brown table is certainly another message of joy and happiness from you. I remember a time as a child when I didn’t have many friends (we moved a lot). My mother bought me a dear little Charlie Brown book titled, “I need all the friends I can get”. That is still a powerful message for us all, isn’t it? Those plates and your animated centerpiece are so joyful, I would be pushing that button to have the music and lights all of the time. It is so wonderful to have you back joining us! Have a blessed Christmas!!
Marsha says
Kari, what a feeling of warmth and nostalgia that overcame me when I see your Charlie Brown posting. The memories of watching a Charlie Brown Christmas with my children will forever be in my heart and your lovely tablescape has rekindled all of those warm and fuzzy feelings. I love how you incorporated Charlie Brown into your centerpiece and added the hot cocoa elements to the table too. The Charlie Brown plates are perfect for adults and children. The added peppermint sticks are a great touch to the tablescape since, as a child, I have enjoyed them every year in various sizes. What is a Christmas without a peppermint stick too. Kari, I am so happy to hear you are feeling better each day. I will keep you in my prayers and hope that God will send his blessings upon you and your family. Merry Christmas!!!
Sandra Garth says
It is such a blessing that you are healing and resuming some of your activities. It’s also a joy to have you back with us again. From the moment I read the title of your table the Charlie Brown Christmas theme music started playing in my head. Our little Ava would adore this table and wouldn’t want to sit anywhere else. Your styling is always on point and what a fun way to liven things up. Merry Christmas dear friend!
Sandy (Zinn) Marshall says
Dear Kari,
It’s so wonderful to see you so cheery again. What a great job you did with your Charley Brown Christmas.
Just remember the tortoise won the race. Slow and easy is the best way. You are getting a lot accomplished even with being slow.
Hugs and love,
Sandy and Ron

So good to see you posting again. I am glad you are starting to do things a little at a time. Writing in a journal is wonderful. When I went through my chemo, I wrote in a journal It’s always good to go back and read it. I have to smile at your Charlie Brown Christmas. What fun this is! The cute Santa mugs, the wonderful snow globes are magical. q Christmas blessings to you my friend. Hugs

Since we’ve moved and have none of our ‘stuff’ around us (we’re staying with family), your post and additional sites to gives me the spirit of the season anyway. Thank you! You always inspire me to think creatively in presentation…you have a gift. Merry Christmas!
Debbee says
Kari, it warms my heart and brings joy to have you joining us again around the tablescape blog! Such a fun and endearing table. Love, love, love the Peanuts plates. It’s not Christmas for me with out seeing Linus telling Charlie Brown what Christmas is all about. And, the end when the entire gang sings Hark the Herald Angel Sings —- with Pigpens cloud of dust on every breath lol!
the Painted Apron says
Oh Kari, how much fun is this! Charlie Brown and Lucy are such classics, and always bring smiles! You really have some wonderful Peanuts things, the plates are adorable as is the large stuffed CB and the dog house with Snoppy! Such a fun centerpiece with pots of cocoa and marshmallows, and I love the fat Santas and snowmen! It is all delightful, and the best part is having you back blogging and sharing! I’m so happy you are able to start doing the things you enjoy again, and I know you will have a blessed and special holiday season! Thank you for being such a bright and shining star in our lives!
Jenna
Kari says
Jenna you are so kind, thank you for your kind comments.
I love Charlie Brown and the whole gang and I am so glad to have them back on TV again.
Speaking of inspiration, you make me want to get out my pencils and draw…you are so talented and make it look so easy.
I have a confession to make…there were days when I lay in bed that I thought of you and your drawings and how much I wanted to draw. Although my pictures will not make the museum of fine art, they satisfy me. (sorta) LOL
hugs sweet friend
the Painted Apron says
Aww, thank you Kari! All you need for art is a little passion and interest, which you have! I encourage you to draw and color or whatever you feel like! There are tons of tutorials and classes on line, look at You Tube, there are a tons of great lessons for free! Oh, and I forgot to tell you, I call my youngest grandson Charlie Brown, because he dressed up like him for Halloween several years ago and looked just like him, adorable!!
Calypso in the Country says
What a fun and festive tablescape! I have fond memories of watching A Charlie Brown Christmas when I was young. My sister and I used to love imitating the muffled adult voices in the show. And of course, whenever anyone sees a sparse Christmas tree, we call it a Charlie Brown tree – and everyone knows what you mean! Have a wonderful holiday season!
Shelley
Kari says
Thanks Shelley…I also have a Charlie Brown tree that I put up….love it.
I also use ring tones on my phone for caller ID purposes. I use the Charlie Brown theme song for one of my sons…it describes him perfectly.
Happy December to you and yours.
Rachelle says
Kari, you optimism and faith has been of great value in the last year. So has your joy in uncovering well love objects! I always get a little thrill when I come upon something that was stored and forgotten.
The Charlie Brown table made me smile. All those figures, santa mugs and “snow” made the table come to life.
I can only imagine how good it must feel to have your strength come back. Reading about your progress reminds me to be thankful for the blessings God gives to me each and every day:)
RR
Kari says
Rachelle I love to journal, not only to keep me on track with my “to do lists” but to also keep me mindful of my gratitude for the simple things in life that we sometimes take for granted.
My journal lists 5 things I am grateful for today and 3 things to make great today and 1 thing I am stressed about and how I will deal with that stress, and 1 thing I am excited about and 1 person I will surprise in some way today and…. last but not least, 5 prayers I know God will answer.
We are so blessed and when we remind ourselves, as you said (for me it is journaling) ….we are blessed even more.
Happy December and Merry Christmas to you
hugs

Kari, I adore Charlie Brown so I absolutely love this precious table. I agree Charles Shultz always has a meaningful message and lesson for everyone. My youngest son has always loved Charlie Brown and Snoopy. We have collected several items over the years. I am so happy that you are regaining your strength. You are truly an inspiration to us all. Take care, and I hope that you have a most joyous holiday season!
Kari says
Oh Shannon, I am indeed so fortunate and blessed. There were days when I was sure I would not feel up to setting a tablescape and what a joy to be able to do what I love best and to be around and among fellow bloggers. There is beauty everywhere, in all of you.
I guess I will always be a child at heart cuz I still watch Charlie Brown, Rudolph and Frosty.
Thank you my friend for your sweet comments

Good Morning Kari! What a wonderful table! Charlie Brown makes me happy and so does your table!
Thankful for my sweet Kari being back here in BlogLand! What an inspiration! ❤️
Kari says
You are too kind sweet friend. I am so fortunate to have such wonderful blogger friends and you are right there at the top of the list.
It is chilly here in Florida…by Florida standards anyway, 56 degrees is considered time for hot chocolate weather and Charlie Brown’s “popcorn” sounds good too!!! LOL
You are so fortunate to have two places of choice for “good” weather.
Hugs dear friend

Hugs right back at you!
Bonnie Morgan says
Kari, Good morning! I love your Charlie Brown tablescape. I am so glad you had fun receiving your packages ordered for this table. The red and white lidded cocoa fixins containers with measuring spoons are so cute and very useful. I might just have to make a cup of cocoa to enjoy while I peruse all the tablescapes this morning. The power of suggestion is real!
I was glad to hear Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving and Christmas programs are back.
Oh, before I forget, I laughed out loud about the “for looks only” candy canes!!! LOL! I think we all can relate.
Your three tired stand is fun also and I am getting mine out and use my Santa mugs.
I am so glad you are getting stronger and feeling like slowly tackling your office and other things. That is a great answer to prayer and God is so good. I am so glad you felt like styling a tablescape!
Merry merry Christmas to you and your family.
Kari says
Thanks Bonnie,
My office has a “U” shaped desk bordering three walls and shelves above the desk tops and so it has been a work in progress as I “organize” like items (such as the different Holidays etc) I also have to co-ordinate with all the “blog” shelving in the garage. My point is I wasn’t “organized” while sick and I am paying the price now which is a good thing because I am able to be ruthless and slowly get rid of the extra stuff. SLOWLY being the key word. LOL
I am drinking hot cocoa as I respond to your kind comments.
Have a great December my friend.
Ann Krucek says
Oh my goodness, Kari, your table is adorable!!! Your Charlie Brown table really brought a smile to my face!! I tried to find a cheerful theme to my table as well, we all need to have our spirits lifted a bit. Love your snow bank and of the characters enjoying the season! I woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow this morning, your table reminds me of how much fun snow can be! Great table!!
I am glad to hear that you are doing better, prayers for you to continue to get stronger each day. I wish you a very peaceful holiday season❤️
Kari says
Thank you Ann for your continued prayers…they always come when I need it most.
With all the doom and gloom these days, we all need a smile or two and Charles Shultz’s Charlie Brown seemed the perfect vehicle.
Happy December and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Rita C. says
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this, Kari! I can sense your comeback with each and every little action you mention regarding journaling, a little bit of cooking, cleaning, organizing, and the thrill of the inanimate (yes, I completely understand!). Your tablescape is wonderful. I am wondering where you sourced all the Charlie Brown items. I remember when Hallmark celebrated the 50th anniversary several years back, maybe then? Who isn’t rooting for Charlie Brown and loving little Snoopy (Lucy, maybe not so much, she’s a bully). Your canisters are adorable too. I love seeing your creativity spark again, am so happy you’ve joined us again, and look forward to seeing you much more. Happy December, Kari. You are the epitome of what God’s grace can do and a testament to anyone who may question faith! ♥
Kari says
Thank you for your kind comments my dear Rita. You are truly a friend and prayer partner.
I found the Charlie Brown centerpiece and salad plates on EBAY! I just love searching EBAY for quirky or outdated items though sometimes they can be a bit pricey.
I also have a sad, little Charlie Brown Christmas tree with one red ornament stowed away in my Christmas stuff,… that I thought about setting out on the table. I didn’t feel like searching for it, altho I have vowed to get more organized in the coming months/years, LOL I really need to purge like you did when you moved to your loft.
Anyway…Every year I set the little forlorn tree up among the fully decorated trees to remind me of what is important.
Happy December to you and yours.
Everyday Living says
Good morning Kari. I love you Charlie Brown Christmas table. It has certainly brought smiles on this early morning. The amazing details are fun, and little children and big ones would adore your table. The snow globes, shakers, napkins trimmed in crochet, the animated Charlie Brown, the cocoa canisters all combine for a festive table. I believe I see a canister of WS mix…love it! It is very cold here this morning, a Santa mug of hot chocolate would be perfect.
I am more than thrilled that you are able to return to normal chores like cooking and cleaning. You are truly a blessing and a miracle! May this Christmas season be filled with love and joy, my friend!
Kari says
thanks my sweet and faithful friend….God is so good and I am so Blessed to be where I am.
It was fun putting Charlie Brown together and it is nippy here in Florida too, so the Hot chocolate is so good.
