Baby It’s Cold Outside Hot Cocoa Bar in Florida!
Did you see it?
The moose, the cocoa sign and the sorta balmy weather in Florida.
To most of us in the sunshine state, if one wakes up to 64 degree or lower temperatures, it is cold out.
OK, not really cold, but cooler or jacket or sweater weather….and I don’t think there is a certain time of the year for hot cocoa.
I can drink it in the summertime at the local WaWa,
Don’t know WaWa? Check it out here! Wawa is sort of like a super 7-11 or truck stop, buy-it-all-here type of place. A chain of course.
I have to tell you of a conversation I had with oldest son regarding Hot Cocoa, Moose and Florida.
He called and the conversation went something like this.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“Making a hot cocoa sign”
“In Florida?”
“Yes”, I replied “and I am making moose cup hangars for the hot cocoa cups”
…..“you don’t have moose in Florida”.
Suddenly, I became defensive.
“Well, you don’t have elk in Kansas but you have pictures of elk in your living room.”
He laughed. “that is different, we live next to Colorado and they have elk, you don’t have moose close to you at all.”
I thought for a minute….“no, but we have black bear in Florida…and I don’t believe you have bears in Kansas at all.”
And with that, I felt I had won that discussion.
Perhaps, he is right…perhaps someone might question moose on my hot cocoa bar but I like it.
You see, I had seen a hot cocoa sign in Marshal’s a couple years ago and I thought what a cool idea. The sign read HOT COCOA, COME IN AND WARM UP…or something similar.
But I didn’t know where I would hang the sign until I found the old chipped white hutch several weeks ago.
BINGO! I could make a sign and hang it above the hutch and I could hand paint a BABY IT’s COLD OUTSIDE, because…well because it is cooler in the mornings and late evenings even in Florida.
I will show the steps I went through to make my sign in a later post in case you want to make a hot cocoa sign and feature elk, reindeer, walrus, seals, or polar bears…or whatever wild animal your little heart desires….even if you don’t happen to have that animal living in your state.
Until then, come on over and have a hot cup of cocoa with me.
You will see I have dark chocolate and peppermint and milk chocolate cocoa mixes.
And of course mini marshmallows!
I also have an old thermos or two that I found on EBAY, I could fill them up with hot cocoa just in case you want to drive home with the windows down or the top down on your convertible.
AND I found the cutest little cuddly chocolate moose that I propped up on the hutch.
You might be wondering why there is such a big gap between the sign and the hutch. The Captain has volunteered to add another shelf on the top for me.
Gee, isn’t he nice? I will have to give him an extra cup of hot chocolate, and with marshmallows too.
Have a great day and stay warm no matter what state you live in.
Charming, just like you, Kari
Thanks Jane…wish I was sharing a cup of hot cocoa with you right now…and cookies too! thanks for stopping by.
