My dear readers, I have found in all my years on this earth…that “big things” are nice to have, like kitchen remodels, re-painting the outside of our homes, etc.
However, I think the things that please me most are the simple inexpensive things, that make my life easier.
A big kitchen make-over is so wonderful and exciting (and I am hoping to get mine done this Fall, if the budget is right)…. because it is a big “WOW”!
You know, the Wow Factor is one big improvement and one certainly enjoys all the changes and conveniences of re-doing the work horse called your kitchen.
I am having fun making a mood board for my “wanna be” kitchen.
No, today I am not talking about the big changes, I am talking about a little change that makes tasks just a little bit easier.
I really think I love those things more, because they are everyday things or tasks.
For example: I love candles and love to burn them.
There is something that says romance, when I see a flickering candle.
And you know that I am the eternal romantic!
I still believe in my Knight in shining armor….and white flowing sun dresses…and big floppy hats…and beautiful flowers.
I love flowers whether they are growing in my Secret Garden or they are in a vase gracing my kitchen counter.
Things like that make me smile.
Well, my friends, I have found a couple other things to make me smile.
Lighting candles over the years, usually means I am either looking for matches or one of those butane clicker thing-a ma-jiggers!
Which in my opinion…rarely work for me.
Perhaps I left the silly thing on (if that is an option) or it has run out of butane or the clicker is just too hard for me to get my clicker on.
So you can imagine my delight when I found a USB candle lighter.
And it is pinkish.
I can charge it up using my laptop.
Below is what sold me on this “lasts forever lighter.
“Americans throw away over 350 million disposable lighters per year that are non-recyclable, full of dangerous chemicals, and destined to sit in a landfill for eternity. In response, The USB Lighter Company created an eco-friendly alternative that eliminates waste to support a healthier future for the Earth.”
And the lighter is not an open flame that can shoot up in your face…it is a “current” if that makes any sense.
The candle below is a 4 wick candle.
It is the simple things that please me.
You can google USB lighters and find there are several sources available.
I bought mine at Anthropologie!
Also, I found the neatest candle wick cutter.
The candle makers always say you should cut the wick after burning a candle and prepare it for your next candle lighting.
The candle wick cutter actually came in a set which included a tray, a cutter, a snuffer, and a pick.
It was not expensive and it came in black. gold, copper and silver.
I bought the copper on Amazon.
Google the set, or just one of the items, if you are interested.
Have you noticed we can Google just about anything?
That is another simple pleasure for me.
Googling!
Have a great and Blessed Day.
