Summer, my dear friends…..the beginning of Summer and I am so excited….or perhaps I should say I am that I am quietly excited.
I love being outside and our Florida weather is perfect for eating al fresco for every meal.
Oh yes, don’t get me wrong, the temps can get into the upper 90’s during the summer months…and it is on those days we tend to slow down a bit.
Even the palm trees seem to have a listless or restless attitude as their fronds sway a little less and a little slower.
Dogs don’t run and dash about as much and children seem to be less excited. Their shrieks can not be heard as they play a bit more quietly under the shade trees in the parks. The exception being if the children are playing in a pool in their yards.
Always an exception isn’t there?
And it is then that you hear the sounds of summer.
However, if I start my day early in the cool mornings of warm summer days….I find I can still enjoy all that summer has to offer.
I like to grab a tray and put my breakfast on it and carry it to my Lanai or my Secret Garden….outside in the fresh air before the heat of the day sets in.
My cup of hot tea actually refreshes me.
It doesn’t matter if it is a simple biscotti and green tea or a full blown breakfast of bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast and freshly squeezed orange juice.
You can choose what you prefer.
This morning I treated myself to a “special breakfast”, that was so simple to make.
I took a piece of toast and used a round cookie cutter to cut the center out. I made a scrambled egg and placed it on the toast round and topped that with a sprinkle of grated cheese.
Simple, but special!
I grabbed my hot tea, sun hat and sun glasses, added a few sunflowers and savored each and every bite while listening to the birds singing their “good mornings” to me.
Ahhhhh, I do love the sounds of summer, don’t you?
Just like the little turquoise sign says, hanging above our Master Bedroom Sliders on our Lanai.

Hope you are enjoying your summer and finding time to put your feet up. Summer arrived here in the UK too and the smell of bbqs is in the air..
It’s nice to be able to open the windows for a breeze and I’ve even managed one breakfast on my patio..
Love the sign and the make over .. you probably need to pick up one of those cds of the sea shore waves with the odd seagull now to help you drift off.. plus an air bed with space for your cocktail… hmmmm yes… perfect for relaxing. Hugs..
