The Reading Raccoons Are At It Again Tablescape!

reading raccoonsReading Raccoons, you say.

Really?

Yes, really.

Another Fall Tablescape and I have to admit …I adore this one because of the reading raccoons.

You might say, where are the reading raccoons?

Bear with me and they will pop up.

I LOVE raccoons.

reading raccoonsYears ago, when I was a little girl, we had a baby raccoon that my Dad had fund when hunting.

He brought it home and put it in a cage and we fed it and watched it grow into a big raccoon.

reading raccoonsYes, unfortunately all those cute and cuddly little critters grow up and because we lived on a farm, we were able to take care of it until it was time to release it back into the wild.

My Mother always said the raccoon would come back to drive us a bit crazy, but my Dad released it back in the area he found it, and we never saw it again.

Or at least I don’t think we did.

Living on a farm, one sees badgers, skunks, raccoons, weasels and all kinds of animals.

That is why I love these reading raccoons and they each have a place at the table.

reading raccoonsI started the table with a plaid tablecloth, using a white pick-up truck as the center piece,

You can’t think about farm animals and not think about pick-up trucks, now can you?

reading raccoonsAnd this pick-up truck has bales of hay, Autumn leaves, Fall Flowers and….

reading raccoons…….a scarecrow and an owl riding in the bed of the truck.

Looking for raccoons is my guess.

reading raccoonsOn each side of the pick-up are carved white pumpkins that light up at night.

reading raccoonsAlso, there are little pumpkin salt and pepper shakers sitting in a pumpkin patch by the truck.

So cute.

reading raccoonsThe plate stack has a wood slice for a charger topped with a pumpkin orange plate and a pumpkin shaped salad plate.

reading raccoons

reading raccoonsI believe the two oranges are different colors but tie together with all the autumn leaves scattered about.

reading raccoonsI’m thinking an orange sponge cake  dessert for yet another orange in the leaf bowls.

reading raccoonsWhat do you think? Too much orange?

reading raccoonsThe Flatware has brown rustic handles and the…. yet another orange,… napkins are tucked inside a flowered napkin ring.

reading raccoons

reading raccoonsI found the stemmed goblet and glass a couple years ago at the dollar store.

The falling leaves match the berries running beside the truck.

reading raccoonsSoooooo what is the candle burning at the table?

reading raccoonsThe most delicious aroma of Harry Slatkin pumpkin patch candles with pumpkin spice.

reading raccoonsFrom the full view of the table.

reading raccoonsAnd of course the reading raccoons!

reading raccoonsThe little one is trying to fool the bigger raccoon. There is no script on his pages.

reading raccoonsLets sneak a peek over the shoulder of the bigger raccoon to see what he is reading.

I think he knows Junior is not really into reading.

reading raccoonsHmmmmmmm. Did you catch that?

Not quite sure what is says…but I am sure it is important.

reading raccoonsDid you see the cute plaid shirts worn by the raccoons?

reading raccoonsLove them and they are both different.

I know you will scroll back up to see Junior’s plaid shirt.

I did and I look at them each day. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my playful little critters for my Fall Tablescape Blog Hop.

Blessings Always and leave a comment if you liked them.

I promise to answer each and every one.

  6. Kari,
I really need to THANK YOU for the inspiration that I got from this post!!! I am once again a Hostess for our church’s Annual Harvest Tea. Each hostess picks a theme, it can be anything, and decorates her table or table according to the theme. My theme this year is actually a Harvest theme and I planned on using a truck filled with pumpkins in the middle of it along with lots of Harvest items!! Thanks for giving me some ideas!! I usually use a round table but this year, I am going to use a long table…..
    Hugs,
    Deb

  7. We don’t live on a farm but there’s a wooded area behind our house. We’ve seen deer, wild turkeys, rabbits for days, a fox, skunk and a woodchuck has taken up residence under our deck. I love that the raccoons are wearing plaid shirts, they coordinate with your tablecloth. The white pick up truck is a fun vessel for the fall foliage and the flatware definitely caught my eye. I love the colors and whimsy of your tablescape. It’s always fun hopping with you!

    1. Thanks Sandra for stopping by and commenting on my reading raccoons. When we lived in our last house in the Midwest, we had a greenspace behind our home with a creek and lots of trees. Every morning about 5-6 a.m…. 7 deer would walk through our back yard and come back in the evening about 12 hours later. Also in the morning, about 9 wild turkeys would make the same trek, coming back as it was getting dark. It was such fun to watch them.

  8. Oh, Kari, what a fun and whimsical table! This is so cute, both the raccoons and the cute little truck! You are so creative, what a great imagination you have! Thank you for being a part of another tablescape blog hop!!

You know I love the plaid tablecloth and the pumpkin plates! Looks like you are ready for the crisp cool weather of fall with this fun table! Enjoy your fall🍁🍂

    1. Thanks Ann, I which you could smell this candle….delicious! I may leave the raccoons out for the season. 🙂 thanks for stopping by.

  10. Kari, this table is so much fun! I love the whimsical reading raccoons in their cute plaid shirts! Your plate stack is perfect for autumn with the goblets and flatware. Your plaid tablecloth looks identical to the one I used, mine came from TJ Maxx last year, The pickup truck with its scarecrow is so cute as your centerpiece. It would be delightful to sit at this table and take in all of the details. It is my pleasure to blog hop with you sweet friend!

    1. Pam, thank you so much for your sweet comments. That tablecloth seemed to get around as Mary said she had one too. I have a darker tan/orange/cinnamon plaid one, but I thought this one worked well with all the oranges. I always enjoy these blog hops because we get to see so many pretty tables and I love the inspiration you provide as well as a fitting Bible verse. It always seems to be just what I needed to hear that day…. or it co-incides with our daily devotional. God is Good! Bless you! Hugs

  11. Kari, your table is darling with your reading raccoons. No, not too much orange. The wood slices look great with your plates. I adore the dollar store leaf glasses. The truck is too cute. You have so many wonderful aspects to this fun and whimsical table. Love the plaid. A pleasure to join you on this fall tablescape blog hop.

    1. thank you Linda for your input on the orange…I loved it too, but sometimes I can get carried away with a theme…if Debbee is the theme queen then I must be the drama queen. LOL!!! I have found so many cute glasses and decor items at dollar store and at that price, one can not have too many. Thanks for stopping by and I hope things are going better with your family health issues.

  12. So much cuteness! The reading raccoons are just adorable, and so unique, I’ve never seen anything like them! I have been trying NOT to buy a pick up truck for several years, I think they are so neat 🙂 You have gone all out for fall here, so many wonderful and fun elements to look at, total eye candy!
    Jenna

    1. Thank you Jenna…I do have a thing for pick up trucks. Not only do we own one, I have a blue pick-up truck and a red pick-up truck….in fact I think we have always owned a pick-em-up-truck. LOL

  13. Kari, such an adorable, whimsical full on fall tablescape! Definitely NOT too much orange. Love all the plaid. Crazy about the truck centerpiece and how you adorned and surrounded it. I’ve enjoyed how you incorporated the truck into other tablescapes before…think I need a truck!

    1. Thanks Debbee and good eye. I also have a blue truck (love blue and orange together)…and a red truck that usually comes out at Christmas. You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl!!!!! Thanks for stopping by. Hugs

  14. I, for one, am a fan of orange. I think you either love it or hate it. Your table is a truckload of fun, Kari! I can only imagine your mother allowing a raccoon in as a caged pet, lol, but what a fun childhood memory. It’s all fun at the table too.

    1. I have to admit, mom kept asking daily ….”is it time to release the raccoon?” I think she was afraid we kids would be begging to keep it permanently. LOL I will always love orange for the Fall and Halloween…reminds me of elementary school projects and our black and orange construction paper chains we made. Thanks for stopping by my friend.

  15. Kari, I can smell your pumpkin spice candle and enjoyed your fun commentary about your fondness for raccoons. A few years ago I was sitting on my back porch one afternoon and a mother, daddy and baby raccoon strolled by. I jumped up to grab my camera inside but they were already out of sight when I got back. What a picture that would have been!

Your fall table is so full of personality. Love the pick-up truck surrounded by fall decor. Your plaid tablecloth and pumpkin plates issue in fall color beautifully. I enjoyed your farm animal table so cleverly done! Fun to blog hop with you.

    1. Thank you Bonnie, I love the sights and smells of Fall, even though I live in SW Florida! I confess I have the candles burning all the time and it is so relaxing. What a pic that would have been to capture the whole raccoon family…but that happens to me all the time when I spot a great photo op. My camera should hang around my neck all the time I guess. LOL

  16. What a beautiful table. I love your adorable raccoon! You have a thing for them, I have a thing for squirrels. Don’t know why though. I just think they’re cute and playful. Thanks for the gorgeous pops of color on this rainy stormy day!

    1. Thank you Christine….I actually have a thing for all animals…much to the chagrin of my friends and family! LOL Thanks for stopping by.

  17. Hi Kari, Love the whimsy and fun elements at your fall table from the pick up truck to your reading raccoons! You can never have too much plaid or orange for fall in my book and I have the some plaid tablecloth! It’s always a pleasure to blog hop with you ♥

    1. Thanks Mary, and I adore your new Lola. She is so precious and thanks for stopping by. love blog hopping with the best.

Please comment, I'd love to hear from you.
