You have heard me speak of it many times.
My quiet place.
My Alone Time.
My retreat for my sweet release from the woes of the day.
My Secret Garden.
This is going to be part 1 of two parts as I show you what the Captain and I did over the week-end.
But I wanted to tell you first of the Peace and Calmness here in our Florida home on the West (gulf) side of the state.
Tomorrow, I will show you more of our week-end.
My Secret Garden sanctuary.
But for today, this is what I need.
This tranquility.
This oneness with nature.
This one on one with my Heavenly Father in my own little sanctuary.
I have the sign below hanging above the bedroom door in our courtyard ….and I always smile at the phrase.
Yes, Seals & Croft certainly knew how to turn a phrase.
“Summer Breeze makes me feel fine….blowing through the jasmine in my mind.”
And no, I don’t want to hear that the lyrics mean something else. (If they do) 🙂
I take them at face value and I love the thoughts of my evening jasmine and it’s wonderful fragrance blowing through my mind.
Ahhhhhh!
I remember a while back, I made a comment to oldest son about a “Beatles” song and I said, how strange the lyrics are/were …“Lucy in the sky with diamonds”.
Well, he laughed and said…”Mom, that song is about the hallucination drug, LSD.”
Say What?
That certainly ruined that little diddy song for me.
I never looked at that song in the same way after that. LOL
So tomorrow, I will post Part Two of my Week-end.
I don’t mean to concern you, because all is well.
No mystery here.
No bad news or tragedy to report other than the usual routine news of the day which is always nothing but routine.
No, nothing is wrong.
Everything is right.
Or at least as right as it is gonna be.
Our life is just like every one of you.
Ins and outs and ups and downs and over and out…good days, and not so good days….well, you get the picture. 🙂
Meanwhile I will retreat to my Secret Garden, where I can watch and hear the birds singing.
And I can feel the gentle ocean breezes and I can smell the white jasmine and the white gardenias….as I look at the world through rose colored glasses.
And all is right with the world (even if the candles in the outdoor candelabra in the above pic is/are a little wonkey)……as I hear Louis Armstrong sing the song “What A Wonderful World”
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They’re really saying I love you
They’ll learn much more than I’ll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world
Have a great and Blessed Day.

Very sweet post Kari. I love your cute sign. That song brought back memories. I really don’t pay attention to the words. Your little oasis is lovely. I would feel totally relaxed. Happy Valentine’s Day Kari. xo
Sandra Garth says
I immediately thought of the Summer Breeze version by The Isley Brothers and it’s a nice song to have stuck in your head. Your sanctuary looks like the perfect place to just “chill”. Looking forward to Part 2.
Kari says
Thanks Sandra….we all need a place of our very own to just chill. Even if it is just a small closet….as it was for me as a child. 🙂

I love that you have a personalized sign! It looks like a wonderful spot! I am headed to my favorite spot today, my beach house! Haven’t been since Thanksgiving, I can’t wait! {that’s too funny about your son, I agree, somethings you just don’t want to know!}

You are so lucky to have a beach house Jenna…I have seen pics and heard you talk of it.
How far is it from your home? Is it on the gulf or ocean?
Thank you my friend for stopping by.
the Painted Apron says
It’s on the Gulf on the Alabama coast, only takes 4 hours from Birmingham, easy drive…got here yesterday and my son and his boys arrive today for the long weekend, thanks for asking!
Everyday Living says
Kari, I love your secret garden, the perfect respite and calm! Summer Breeze, I remember the song so well and it will now be playing in my head all day!😊. Wishing you a most beautiful day my friend!❤️
Kari says
thank you Pam….it is indeed peaceful and calming for the soul.
It is odd how some songs go over and over in your head all day long.
Right now the song in my head is:…”you’ve got a friend.” Hugs

I am so envious of your lovely secret garden and the beautiful plants. Here in northern Calif. It is dark, windy, grey and my plants are yucky green and probably frost bitten though most always do come back in spring. I’ve always thought we had alot in common, I listen to Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” all the time. Sometimes it makes me cry. I happened to see on You Tube a recording of this song by Bette Milder, Goldie Hawn, Olivia Newton John and Meryl Streep all singing it together, You would be surprised how good it is.
I am still doing good
Your friend, Linda
Kari says
Linda, I am so happy to hear you are doing better.
You are one of the people I pray about during my quiet time in my Secret Garden,… just know that I care about you dear friend.
I love this Bible verse: Matthew 11:28
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
You know I love music and as I was writing this to you, the song “you’ve got a friend” kept going through my head.
I’m sure you know this song.
“If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you’ll hear me knocking at your door”
Granted I can’t be knocking at your door physically, but I can do so virtually.
And know that you are never alone….
Across the many, many miles
is a friend who cares
and a Father in Heaven
who loves you too.
I have always loved what a wonderful world. I will listen to the ladies version.
Hugs Always
Kari

I like your sanctuary! A place to get away from it all!
Beautiful my friend!
Kari says
thanks Nancy….we all need that quiet space to reflect or to sit and do nothing… if nothing else. LOL
Nancy says
Indeed!💗
Chloe Crabtree says
What a lovely little spot! I am with you, I don’t want to know what those lyrics mean either! Seals and Crofts were one of my first concerts that I went to, and I still love listening to their music! HUGS! Chloe
Kari says
thanks Chloe…we all need that little oasis don’t we? And I love Seals and Croft’s music.
