Oops! Forgot The Fashion Sunday, And Pakistan Concern and Torn Umbrellas!

I almost forgot to do a Sunday Fashion…My blog was giving me fits, I couldn’t comment, nor could you but hopefully it is fixed.  Also the Captain delivered a new airplane to Pakistan which had me a little concerned because of the unrest over there.  I put him in God’s care 🙏🏻 and praise God he is back in the states after his 4 day ordeal.🤗  He is still in the air, but over the great U.S. of A as we speak.

So real quick, this is what I wore.  I have to say our church is always a little cool for me so I usually have a blazer or cover-up or at least something long sleeve.  I actually have two outfits as I attended another event, so I will share both outfits.

orange fashion blazer

This blazer is amazing and it comes in so many colors. I wore it in a pretty orange on Sunday. Here is the link for the blazer.

orange multicolored top fashion

This multicolored orange, navy and black top brought all the colors into play. Here is the link for the orange top.

navy blue fashion pants

The pants are so flattering and come in many colors.  They are called yoga pants but even if I did yoga, I would never wear them for that…they are so dressy. keep their shape and color and wash and dry well.  Right now they are on sale with 28% off. Here is the link for the pants

brown sandals

The neutral sandals are a slight wedge which is about all I can handle these days. but they go well with just about anything and come in several colors. this is the link for the sandals

straw boho ear rings

I wore straw looking ear rings to keep the ‘straw’ vibe going. Here is a link to the ear rings which are very lightweight.  I don’t like anything heavy hanging from my ears. The link to the Boho ear rings  I have the top pair, the one the model is wearing.  There is a special now, you get 4 pair.

straw hand bag

I used one of my straw handbags, they are so wonderful for summer…I was prepared to wear this hat if my hair didn’t co-operate so I carried it but left it in the car. The straw bag  and the straw hat . Just click on the underlined item to go to the site.

hat bands for straw hat

One thing I will note about the hat…I can change out the hat band to go with whatever outfit I choose.  I bought these hat bands and love the variety of colors. Here is the hatbands link

The other event I went to…I wore this navy blue set.  I wore it with the same shoes as above, along with a different pair of straw ear rings, hat and the straw bag.  I did wear it buttoned down with a wide straw belt at the waist.

2 piece navy blue set

This two piece linen-like set is so comfortable and cooling in these hot temps. I have it in three colors.  I wear it loose, buttoned up or belted…looks good either way.  (I do not wear a underneath top that shows my tummy! LOL) Mostly I wear the top buttoned up with nothing underneath, and when I want to look a little more than casual, I put on a belt. I like that the pants are wide leg and the long sleeves can be rolled up or left with button cuff.  I bought these in a small and they are still very roomy and loose.  The link is here

The straw looking ear rings are here

Let me add something about clothing.  I do have some very expensive clothes in my closet…AND I have some that are …well not expensive at all. One might call the expensive ‘investment’ pieces….but I feel an investment piece is not defined by its price tag or brand. It’s defined by how long you wear it and how often you reach for it.  When I worked in an office, I wore a few expensive blazers/3 piece suits and I still have them, but I find they remain in the back of my closet. 🫣 However, I have clothing and accessories items that I found on EBAY,  ETSY,  POSHMARK, and AMAZON, some for literally pennies and I have found that each time I wear them, I get so many compliments.  Some might say..these inexpensive items don’t last as long, but you know what?  Maybe I have tired of them and want something different, so I do just that.  Remember the olive green wall to wall carpets of the 70-80’s etc? We did buy the expensive carpet that would last 20 years…but I am the type that I tire easily of the same ole thing or color….and I may not want a carpet to last 20 years. (I don’t even have carpet here in Florida) Now, I am not talking vintage here…that is a completely different animal.  I just wanted to give you my opinion and no judging on your personal opinion on your buying habits.

I know there has been some crazy weather around the country these past weeks and SW Florida is no exception. We have had some high winds and rain.  Our umbrellas in the Secret Garden, not only blew over but the umbrellas tore.  I’m sure their age and the hot Florida sun contributed to their fragile state, but none the less they need to be replaced.  If you haven’t seen my Secret Garden before in my posts, let me introduce you…

Secret GardenThe area is not huge but it is covered in lots of tropical plants and a pergola which covers our dining area..

secret gardenThere are two 9 ft umbrellas in the Secret Garden…and a 4 chair group setting with a fireplace on the side and a firepit (used for a coffee table) in the middle.  In the pic you might also see a pizza oven in the bottom right corner.  We have squeezed a lot in this small space.

two umbrellasAnyway, after the two 9 ft umbrellas are sort of ‘gone with the wind’, the Captain and I decided to try something different, so instead of two single umbrellas, we chose two triple umbrellas to cover two chairs and a small table between.  I just ordered them so I will let you know how they work out.

Have a great and wonderful day…

Blessings Always

  1. You HAVE had wind! I hope the new umbrellas work out — it’s just a beautiful area! So pretty and a wonderful spot to dine or relax. I look at my clothing as price per wear. I’m happy to spend a lot on athletic shoes because I wear them most every day. Fancy things — only in an emergency!

    1. I hope the new umbrellas work out too Jeanie, I do like the peaceful quiet tropical feeling I get when the Captain and I sit in the Secret Garden. BTW…most people don’t even know it is there,…hence the name. …. and you are right…certain items deserve a good quality purchase. Thanks for stopping by my friend. 🥰

  2. FROM KITTY

Hi Kari, this is my second attempt to comment and I hope it works.
Thank you for sharing your pretty outfits and sources with us. How fashionable you must look! Your Secret Garden is so lush and beautiful. Now I know where the Captain got his name! I so glad he’s back in the USA! Happy weekend to both of you. ❤️

    1. Oh Kitty I am so sorry you could not comment…I have “IT” working on it and they keep telling me it is fixed but then I hear from my readers through email and they say they can’t comment. So it is back to the drawing board. 🥴 thank you for your patience.

Yes, the Captain is a real life pilot and has had his pilot license since he was 16 years old. He has flown for several major airlines, helped establish, as well as fly for, another, flew for the last 28 years for NETJETS (which flies the rich and famous… but he doesn’t fly me because I am neither rich nor famous LOL) and he ‘retired’ last year…..However, he loves flying so much and is always telling me he has the best office window in the world…that now he has taken on contract flying…mostly delivering airplanes to foreign governments as well as private corporations. He likes that now… he can pick and choose when and where he flies. Betcha didn’t know that I am also a pilot…(but only for pleasure) …I quit flying about 20 years ago because it is too expensive as a hobby.LOL

  3. Hello Kari! I, too, will not spend an arm and a leg on clothing. I am usually in comfortable clothes when at home. When I go out, I look stylish but don’t spend a lot of money. Amazon has some cute And remember, I have two closets—one here in Pennsylvania and one in AZ. I have doubles of some things because I like them that much. I am not going to carry it back and forth. So I do not spend a fortune on clothes, especially now that I am retired.
I love your triple umbrella. I hope it works for you.
Enjoy the rest of the week, my friend.

  4. Kari, I know you look amazing in the clothes that you have shown. Like you I have some expensive clothes, but often go for the TJ Maxx pants and tops in my closet. I am so happy the Captain made it back to the USA!

I love your Secret Garden, it is the perfect size and not spread out over the back forty like mine. I would so enjoy sitting in your garden and sharing tea and conversation!

I tried several times to comment on ‘Summertime and the living is easy’
but it would never go through. I love revisiting a post!

    Enjoy your week, my friend!

    1. Pam I so appreciate your inputs and your way of thinking on purchases. I know of those who spend 3 & 4 figures on an item (and that is ok, it is their choice) but all I think is: instead of one expensive item, I can purchase several items and if I tire of them, I can donate them and purchase more…it gives me a variety of choices instead of just one…and surprisingly, (as I said in my post)…I get complimented most of the time, plus I feel good about what I am wearing. BUT To each his own.🥰

On another note…I am so glad you were able to comment as I have had several readers email me with difficulties in sending their comments, so it is back to the drawing board with my host. Seems I spend hours on the phone and get only partial fixes. 🥴

Have a great and glorious day…🌞🎼🎵”This is the Day that the Lord has made…we will rejoice and be glad in it”🎶 🏖️
