My dear readers….I have been slowly
adding in pumpkins and Fall items to
my home. I showed the blue and
white pumpkins centerpiece to you
a few days ago and I am using the
softer approach on my dining room
table.
See A Blue Pumpkin Patch!
The picture below shows the centerpiece in the early stages…I am working on completing the look for a tablescape. You will see it very soon.
If you will recall, I said that I would still incorporate familiar Fall colors also…. and that is what I have done today in my living room.
This is the fireplace before……
and after…..
You will notice that I didn’t make a big change…just a subtle change by adding some eucalyptus in a clear glass bottle and a few colorful leaves and sunflowers strategically placed around the vase.
Another change is the pillows on the sofas.
You will note in the pic below that I have layered neutral colored pillows on the sofa. I love how they do not shout “look at me”…but rather just look inviting. Cozy. They call out ‘come sit by me’ and read your book or cuddle by the fireplace.
The other sofa has the orange splash of two pillows that warm up the white and darker brown pillows. They also add texture.
Fall is all about adding layers, much like one would add to their wardrobe.
The weather in the Fall is usually cooler and crisper, but not enough to don heavy parkas. One layers their clothing with sweaters, vests and light jackets.
That is like the interior of my home. I want to warm up the space by adding layers and different textures.
I love opening my boxes of Fall decor that have been stored for a year… and finding “my old friends”. As I sort through the boxes, I toss items that have worn out their welcome and make a mental note to replace them as soon as I am able.
This year, I am finding joy in adding color to my newly painted interior. The colors are more neutral and the splashes of orange and browns just pop and are pleasant to look at.
I am sure before the Fall season is over, I will have added, moved and changed some of the decor.
I like to shop my house and I move things around…a lot. I find vases and urns of summer flowers and I replace them with fall arrangements.
I love creating and I love to make my home unique, something that is pleasing to our eyes.
Have you started your Fall decorating?
Have a blessed Wednesday.
