Food, Massage And Sports For The Week-End!…Cooking food on the week-end!
I was very exited when I opened my sleepy eyes on this dark early week-end morning.
Why?
A number of reasons.
After sharing a yummy hot breakfast with the Captain of steak and eggs and buttery biscuits, dripping with orange marmalade…
…I was off to get a massage from my very favorite massage therapist. Her hands are just what my achy-breaky muscles need to begin this busy week-end.
The air was brisk…a cool 52 degrees for our neck of the woods.
As I lay on the warm massage table, my mind starting thinking about the things I had planned for the day.
I really should have just let my mind go blank and enjoy the massage as soft music played over the room…which is what I usually do, but I had plans for the day.
Today is College Game Day on ESPN and my favorite team, the Kansas Jayhawks are playing the Kentucky Wildcats early this evening.
So that is always fun listening to all the hype of the Big 12 playing the SEC!
Of course, I will have my hands busy doing something else….
Cooking in the kitchen!
I love to prepare a few meals in advance and either freezing or setting aside for later in the day.
Today, I made a pot of spicy hot Mexican Chili!
And individual meat loaves with cheesy scalloped potatoes.
AND Bierocks, those wonderful home made bread dough shaped crescents and filled with ground beef, onion and cabbage.
All sooooo yummy and make my Winter kitchen smell so wonderful!
The bonus to these three meat dishes is they can be heated up in a heartbeat and are still so so good.
Yes, I was on a roll…speaking of rolls, I tossed in home made cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow before church.
Ok, I was a rock star for a day! And even though we should not pat ourselves on the back, I am making an exception today!
Do you ever do that? Make up several meals on the week-end for later in the week?
I have to confess that I don’t do that every week-end but I do get busy in the kitchen when I am in the mood to cook cook cook.
I am also making my favorite sugar cookie recipe which I will cut out into hearts and frost with pink and red powdered sugar icing.
Yep! I am pretty content as I settle down to watch all the game day activities.
And the Captain ain’t complainin’ either.
Pass that guacamole and chips please.
Oh, did I forget to tell you that I also made guacamole from Haas avocados and jalapenos, along with home made tortilla chips?
Yep! I made them too!
And Rock Chalk Jayhawk! KU!!!!!
Please comment, I'd love to hear from you.
