I have always loved picnics! A warm, sunny Spring day or weekend is a perfect time for me to pack up a picnic basket and enjoy the wonderful sunshine or the cool evening breezes in the park or in your own back yard.
No special occasion needed…in fact the more spontaneous the better. The Captain and I don’t need an excuse to have a picnic.
In the pic below…it was a good book, fruit and wine and our very own park bench.
We like picnics in all kinds of weather….the pic below was a picnic on a cool February day with hot chocolate and donuts.
We like to take our large cheese board and fill it with olives, grilled fruits, cheeses and honey such as the cheese board below.
Or this one we did not too long ago. I added small plantain bananas, grapes, crackers, soft Goat cheese, Brie and Prosciutto…and a glass of wine and you have a picnic!
Fortunately, we also like to host Picnics In The Park for different groups…and we have two scheduled for April and May.
For our group picnics, we could have chosen a sheltered spot on one of our coastal beaches, but we chose a wonderful park with a nice large shelter house close to Villa de la Luna.
If the picnic is for the two of us, or a very intimate few…we can toss a blanket on the grass and be perfectly happy although we do have a couple rules we like to follow: NO PAPER PLATES, PAPER NAPKINS or PLASTIC CUTLERY.
We want the Picnic to feel special with no chasing down paper goods flying away with the breezes.
However, there is always an exception to the rule, isn’t there?
When we host large groups of people, we do resort to the hard plastic plates and the heavy plastic cutlery….I mean we do have to be practical with large groups.
This was from a picnic we hosted a couple years ago for a group during a rainy day. Don’t let a liitle rain stop your picnic.
We also love to have music playing softly in the background or sometimes…
……if it is just the Captain and I, we lay on our blanket, chatting and looking up at the clouds in the sky or the leaves in the overhead trees.
Yes….romantic…but you knew that about me already if you have followed my Blog for a while.
Do you like picnics?
I can’t imagine anyone who would not like to grab a hunk of cheese, a bottle of wine, a French loaf of bread or baguette and relax under the trees…at a park or in your own back yard.
Have a great a wonderful beginning to your week.
