“Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet, but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat”!
Peter, Paul and Mary sang those words many moons ago …in spite of the lyrics…., I can’t help but love lemons!
I love the fresh scent of lemons, don’t you?
I love the wedge of lemon in my cuppa hot tea…
….and my glass of iced tea.
I love grated lemon zest in recipes…
…….AND….
I love the bright, cheery, yellow, color, …..it reminds me of sunshine!
Over the week-end I managed to get to the Farmer’s Market and when I saw the lemons and limes…I just couldn’t resist them.
I know, I am one of those impulse buyers, except…I use fresh lemons and limes for everything and the price was great.
And I love playing with my dishes sooooo….
I decided to make a tablescape of lemons.
…….and I have to admit, Lemon tree very pretty on the plates make me smile!!!
And you will notice that there is a couple different centerpieces…and two different chargers and two colors of drinking glasses.
I finally decided on the soup tureen for the center piece, the white chargers and the green stem glasses for the water glasses.
That is why it is so much fun playing with dishes and table settings.
One does not have to have lots and lots of dishes….
I have used my lemon salad plates in place settings before, only I used white dinner plates and white chargers, along with my yellow-handled flatware
A few months back, I found some pretty hand towels with lemons and black olives at the dollar store and decided they would make perfect napkins.
And then, I found a set of lemon dinnerware that had lemons everywhere and luckily, a beautiful soup tureen with matching ladle.
And whaaaa-laaaaaa! My lemon tablescape became even more lemon-ey!
Makes me think of Summertime lemonade and picnics in the park and another song…..“don’t worry, be happy”!
So you may ask what is on the Menu?
And I shall tell you it will be:
Lemon Chicken with a creamy risotto (lemon zested of course),
a garden salad with a citrus-y lemon vinaigrette and of course….
for dessert… a lemon meringue pie.
It just doesn’t get any better than this!
Happy Lemon Day to All of you and remember when life gives you lemons?
You can make lemonade OR you can use lemons in your favorite beverage of choice!
All of your lemon dishes, especially that tureen are so lovely! Where in the world do you keep it all? This is a great cheerful tablescape!
Thank you sweet friend. And I stick dishes anywhere and everywhere. LOL!! I do have a whole pantry like room dedicated to dinnerware…Actually it is a panic room so if a hurricane should visit again….my dishes will be safe, I think. hahahaha!
Love all the lemon inspiration, Kari! So pretty! Be sure to link-up at Homestyle Gathering, my friend! 😉
I will Julie, thanks for hosting HG hugs
How delightful! I am all about lemons lately, I think because we have had such a dreary winter! You have so many lemon pretties Kari!
Jenna
thanks Jenna…and I love the color yellow…reminds me of sunshine and all things citrus.
Kari, I love this lemon tablescape and what beautiful dishes that you have shared. Lemon brightens up any dish. Risotto sounds so good, it is one of my favorite dishes to add whatever I have in the fridge. Have a lovely day sweet friend!
You are so faithful dear friend and I so appreciate you. Hugs!
I am looking for lemon dishes! And now I want them even more! Gorgeous my friend! That soup Tureen is the icing on the cake for me! Love, love, love! 🍋🍃🍋🍃🍋
I love those dishes!!! So beautiful and hinting of summer! I love lemons but have to stay away from them. When I was a kid, I ate lemons every day, several times a day…I loved them. BUT, the acid ate the enamel off of my front teeth. Back then, they didn’t have all the fancy schmancy ways to repair enamel and make your teeth look pretty, so the dentist used I don’t know what and now my front two teeth always look discolored. Sadly, I’ve never done anything about it but hope to one day. I will sneak a taste occasionally, but that’s about it. 🙂 Happy Monday! Love and hugs!
I love those dishes too Benita….and I hear ya on the discolored teeth…my teeth have NEVER been pure white…when I look in the mirror, I see dull, cream colored teeth, but my dentist says it is my imagination that they are just not pure white. BUT he is wrong and the way the doctor’s want to make a buck these days, you would think he would suggest a white-ning program. Truth is I have so many crowns (4) that he has matched to the color of my existing teeth, that he probably thinks it is a lost cause. LOL But I have never liked the color of my teeth.Always Hugs dear friend
This is just what I need. We went through all weekend with not one drop of sunlight. I am in need of some brightness around here. So this came just at the right time. I may even make myself some lemonade for lunch to help also. Your table is just beautiful and I love your dish stack. Beautiful job!
thank you Christine….I love the color yellow too…the brighter the better, and I certainly love anything made with lemons. thanks for stopping by.
Oh my goodness Kari… not more items to tuck into your perfect shelving after they have graced your lovely table. 😁
Lemons do have that bright cheerful essence both in color and zesty scent.
Your table looks lovely – you could fill the tureen with chilled watercress soup or a cheeky fruit salad to surprise your guests..The lemony chicken risotto does sound enticing… and would get my vote😊
Hugs from across the pond x
What great ideas for the tureen my sweet friend….You always have such great suggestions and I love them coming from your perspective across the pond. Keep ’em coming please.
Hugs always
