Hello Autumn!
Friends this was a Thanksgiving tablescape from 2017 and I would like to share it again. And yes, I still have all the table elements these 8 years later. I just can’t part with anything.
I am so glad you are here…and so glad we can dine together just like the salad plates suggest!

If you know me…you know I NAME everything.
My friends all have pet names, even my back yard is called “The Secret Garden”, so it is no surprise that the Captain and I would name our home Villa de la Luna.
We christened it the day we bought it seven years ago…and promptly bought a sign to proclaim it.
The name fit it perfectly as it was a fairly large Spanish/Mediterranean home with a front courtyard much like you might see in a villa in the South of France, Italy, or Spain.
ONLY….
……it is in a simple little hamlet called “the Cape”…in Florida.
Repeating the “if you know me” mantra, or if you have followed a few of my posts….you will know that I AM the eternal romantic!
Yep! That is me to a “T”.
The one with the rose colored glasses.
I love knights in shining armor.
I love a late afternoon Summer rainstorm, as the skies grow darker and the clouds take on ominous shapes.
I love bright copper kettles, raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens, cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels…
Oops, sorry, I got a bit carried away as those last few “loves” are the lyrics from the musical “The Sound of Music”...
….but I also love music and I sing all the time….whether anyone wants to hear it or not.
You see, I am the one in aisle 7 of the Publix singing softly, as I browse through the various jars of pickles, peppers and olives.
I’m the one holding the jar of bread & butter pickles while singing …“Give Thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One” …as you quickly walk by me thinking I might be a little bit strange. 🙂
And I love to play with dishes, particularly tablescapes.
So now that the explanations are out of the way, let’s talk Autumn Dining or tablescaping for Thanksgiving.
I started with a Autumn plaid tablecloth and placed a runner down the center of it.
The runner has various colored pumpkins and I believe I purchased it at Home Goods a couple years ago.
When I found the ‘Hello Autumn’ salad plates, I also found this darling pitcher and they both screamed Autumn Dining.
I envisioned Kansas sunflowers popping up from inside the pitcher…perhaps another time.
The little squirrel and acorn salt and pepper shakers have been featured in other tablescapes.
Normally I use the tall, bronze lanterns in my outside foyer, but I decided to place them on the table as the centerpiece.
You know what they say…go big or go home and I decided to be daring and use the extra large lanterns on the table.
There was a lot of “face timing” debating going on as Only Daughter (from Kansas) and I discussed options with using such large lanterns and candles.
Of course we wanted diners to be able to see each other and when I placed tall candles in the lanterns, it made it difficult, sooooo Only daughter suggested smaller candles.
I had hesitated using the smaller candles because I didn’t want them dwarfed by the tall lanterns….but in the end, we decided the smaller ones looked much better.
The various gourds and autumn leaves filled in the bare spots of the centerpiece.
You will also notice that another “fill” for the centerpiece are artichoke votive cups. I love shopping on-line, and I found these cute little artichokes several years ago, holding a votive candle at Amazon.
The cream-colored chippy chargers have chippy rust colored dinner plates.
A lot of “chippy” going on here. :)…but when I added the “Hello Autumn” salad plates with the little cart of pumpkins, the table took on a new look.
I found the salad plates at Pier 1 last year.
The flatware has a neutral brown handle to go with the rustic tablescape.
I doubled the plaid and solid colored napkins as I like to do and used napkin rings with a pumpkin and autumn leaves cluster.
The leaf stemmed water glasses came from the dollar store a couple years ago.
After setting the table, I decided with so many candles you might like to see the table with the candles lit.
Only daughter and I discussed the positioning of the tall lanterns and she came up with the diamond effect (tilting to the side) which I believe showcases the lanterns nicely.
So with that, this Autumn Dining Tablescape came together.
I hope you find inspiration to use one or all the different design features shown here…especially using something like tall outdoor lanterns on your indoor dining table.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match indoor and outdoor items.

Hi Kari, I love this table and looks like I may have missed it those years ago. It has a warm and cozy vibe that suits me perfectly. Those salad plates are charming. I still miss Pier 1 and Tuesday Morning. I always found so much that I didn’t need!

Kitty, thank you for your sweet comments….I miss Pier 1 too and I have to admit that Home Goods and Pier 1 were always on a weekly visit. After I got sick, that stopped and I am sure for the better. I did go into withdrawal for a while. 🥴 but since Pier 1 went out of business ….now I can drive past Home Goods and just keep on going. LOL🤗
Dear Kari, hope you and The Captain have wonderful plans for Thanksgiving this year. Your table looks fantastic and I loved all of it. I’m afraid I have gotten too old to do big dinner and a tablescape anymore. Unfortunately, family is too far away now, so we’ll have dinner at a restaurant near us. Can’t remember the name right now, but hope I can find it. lol

Tableware is my weakness, Kari, can you ever have to many dishes??? {YES!} Your table is delightful, I love seeing everyone’s autumn decor. The pumpkin pitcher is my favorite! Did you know there is a whole line of dinnerware by Pflatzgraff called Villa de Luna? I was lucky enough to receive a set from them a few years ago. You might need some for your Villa de Luna!

Love the table, Kari. I bought just one of those “Hello Autumn” plates last year for an accent, but they sure do make a cute table. I am so proud of myself for not buying any plates this year for fall (shock, I know!), but that pale blue “Autumn Bliss” they had this year tempted me. I share your excitement and pleasure of playing with dishes. Just think what we could all do if we put our stuff together!!
I know Rita…I have to really watch myself… as I see something cute, my head starts spinning as to how I can use it in a tablescape! I also love the little wheel barrow and have seen DIY’s on how to make one. I certainly don’t have the time (or talent) to make one that cute, but I have written down so many “to do things” that I won’t live long enough to complete half of them.
