Happy Thanksgiving To All….

Happy Thanksgiving To All….

My friends, I am sharing a tablescape from 2016…That year I set up two tables because we served two dinners on different days.  My family came down separately from up north….and the result was double the dinners and double the turkey.  Surprisingly we did not tire of turkey.  And since the two dinners were two weeks apart…there were not a lot of left overs after sending most home with family members.

Below is a brief description of the table settings.

Acorn Tablescape2

The table is set and the place setting is above with beautiful Autumnal plates set on a bamboo charger.  The brown napkins are clustered with autumn leaves napkin rings.  The salad plates have Indian corn and Fall veggies featured.  I found the Acorn with lid centerpiece along with the matching Acorn soup bowls at Pier 1.  The flatware is Sophia and in a warm maroon tone which picks up the maroon colors on the Indian corn salad plates..

The stemmed glasses are amber as are the water glasses which also came from Pier 1.  The larger acorn centerpiece is surrounded by gold toned pumpkins and a string of colorful autumn leaves in shades of yellow, red, rust and brown.

I have arranged that the food be on a counter buffet style so that everyone can fill their plate accordingly.

Yummy, the house just smells like Thanksgiving! The turkey is stuffed with a sage dressing, the sweet potato casserole is in the bottom oven along with the green bean casserole.  The potatoes are mashed and the pumpkin pie, chocolate meringue pie, and Coconut cream pie are  cooling on the counter, along with a delicious apple cake.  I made the deviled eggs and pistachio salad and the ever present relish tray filled with stuffed celery, green olives and cranberry sauce.  And though it might seem like overkill I have a large tureen of chicken and noodles. And we must not forget the delicious gravy and of course dinner rolls slathered in butter.  It’s Thanksgiving my friends and with a large group of family and friends, one can never have too much food.  Of course I will send home care packages to those that want it.

I hope you are all having the very best Thanksgiving ever and are enjoying each other’s company.  Cherish it forever because you never know when you will see your loved ones and friends again!

Blessings to all.

  2. Good morning, Kari. Your menu is similar to mine. I love the place settings. The Indian corn salad plates are gorgeous, I have never seen them before. Napkins cinched with leaf napkin rings are just perfect. I know your family enjoyed the beautiful table and delicious food! Happy November my friend!

    1. thanks Pam…isn’t it interesting when we look back and see older tablescapes…it is like seeing our dishes for the first time again. LOL thanks for your sweet comments.

  3. I am hungry just reading your description! The table looks terrific, Kari. I suspect you had plenty of turkey soup that year! This year it will just be Rick and me for TG, unless we find a stray to invite! I know my table won’t look nearly so lovely as yours! Those dishes are a Wow!

    1. Jeanie, I do love to cook for my family and they always expect certain side dishes so it is a good thing I like to not only make them… but eat them as well. LOL. You are too kind with your compliments as I am sure your dinner will be just as enjoyable with you and Rick. Sometimes the quiet ones are the best. hugs.

  4. Kari, beautiful place setting and the description of your dinner is making me hungry this morning. For several years our young family spent back to back days eating turkey at grandmothers’ houses before I said “I’ll host”. Then for over fifty plus years everyone came to our house. I loved all the preparations. However, now we enjoy the day at our children’s homes.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

    1. Isn’t it cool the ways the times have changed? We always had dinner at Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at our other Grandma’s house. Then I hosted (still do sometimes) but now my daughter in Kansas has taken over the task….and since we live in Florida, we try to invite neighbors or friends from church who will be alone to come for dinner. πŸπŸΏοΈπŸ‚
