Always Feels Good To Come Back Home…(check out the feature video on the upper right side of my home page and you will see why we love Cape Coral so much!)
It is always nice to get away whether it is for a long vacation or a long week-end which is sorta what the Captain and I did this last week.
We left on Friday and came home on Wednesday.
Our journey started just across the state (about 3 hours) to Orlando.
We visited our friends in Orlando, Florida….(Mickey and Minnie) for lunch and a nice long visit.
(Of course they aren’t the real Mickey and Minnie at DisneyWorld…:) but that is my pet name for them)
We did not include Disney World on this trip…we took the grandkids last year.
I honestly could not tell who enjoyed the excitement the most…the Captain or the kids! 😉 He is just a big kid at heart!
from Orlando, we went up the East coast to St. Augustine, Florida…which was about a 3 hour drive. (St. Augustine is just below Jacksonville, Florida on the map above).
I shared a few pics of St. Augustine with you a couple days ago. 🙂
Loved the old city and of course the carriage ride through historic St. Augustine!
We then took a little side trip to St. Simons Island, Georgia which is across the Bridge at Brunswick, Georgia if you are looking at the map above.
I like the beauty of the low country and all the islands on the outer banks. On the above map you can see just how close Savannah is to St. Simons Island. AND just how close to Jacksonville, Florida!
And I adore light houses! This is the one on St. Simons Island.
We then drove up to Charleston, South Carolina…
Loved the old city and of course the carriage ride through historic Charleston!
I will be sharing more pics of Charleston later!
Leaving Charleston, we took a side trip, another couple hour trip …and jutted down and over, for a stop in Hilton Head, S.C. (A beautiful outer banks Island).
Of course we had to visit the light house (long way up to the top of that thing!) which overlooks the 18th hole of the famous PGA golf course.
No, we didn’t play golf while while there!
The walk up the light house was exercise enough!
We rewarded ourselves with an ice cream cone at the bottom of the light house!
Hey guys, It was a break even situation.., exercise/ice cream! Right? 🙂
Next stop….Savannah, a mere 2 hours away and back to Georgia!
and of course, Famous Forsythe Park…
Loved the old city and of course the carriage ride through historic Savannah!
Are you seeing a pattern here? Carriage Rides and Light Houses and short hops, skips and jumps! 😉
and then back home to Cape Coral!
To give you another perspective…Savannah is only a little over 7 hours from our home here in Florida….(straight as the crow flies….as my wonderful Mother used to say)… and Charleston just a couple hours North of Savannah.
So we really were not that far from home on our little journey,…about 9 ish hours, but far enough to enjoy the little short trips (which eliminates long, long drives which can be tiring) but/and, we are so very glad to be home again. 🙂
And Jesse James was very happy to see us too. I just tuck him in my purse and we are off! 😉
We boarded Jesse while we traveled..and although they love him to pieces at the Kennel, he is always happy to see us and we are happy to see him too!
I will be sharing a few more pics with you of our mini-vacay, just in case you would like to visit those places…and if you have already visited those cities, perhaps it will bring back a few memories!
Stay tuned….more to come!
Have you visited the southern east coast of our wonderful country?
Please share your experiences with me! I really would love to hear of your travels!
We are all “buds” and I love you all,
And I love that you take the time to read my musings and silliness…..:)
It is not a bad thing to be silly! 😉
Happy Thursday to all!
