Eaglet Back in the Nest….yes, the little eaglet named E8 that became entangled in fishing line and was removed from the nest due to swelling of his foot….has been returned to Mom, Harriet and Dad, M15.
Eaglet 8, now 15 days old, was returned back to the nest after 3 days of care with the rehabilitation agency (CROW) and the report is his left foot looks great and he has gained a bit of weight.
Also, more good news! Harriet and M15 seemed to have accepted this little ?? guy as if he has never been gone.
The Doctors decided to renest E8 because of his great progress!
To quote Dr. Heather Barron….
“At E8’s feeding this morning. The eaglet was very vocal, alert and has an incredible appetite. Its left foot looks great and continues to gain weight. ”
“It gained weight here,” said Kenny Howell, spokesman for CROW.
“He was placed back in the nest, and by the time we left (30 minutes later), both eagles were there and in the nest with the eaglet,” Howell said.
He said that CROW’s Dr. Heather Barron placed E8 back in the nest about 1 p.m. back with his parents, M15 and Harriet.
So now it is a wait and see. For now, the parents are feeding and taking care of both eaglets just as before the fishing line incident.
Personally, I believe E8 is probably wondering why the Doctors didn’t come with him to the nest and feed him personally like they had been doing….he didn’t have to compete for food with his older sibling, E7!! 😉
What a great Valentine’s Day story….More to come…..
