April 1st….Yes, I have played pranks on my friends in the past….but it has been awhile so either I am losing my touch or I have grown up.
Well, maybe …maybe not.
But on this April Fool’s Day…I have been busy slapping paint on anything in my way in the Master Bedroom.
I feel Spring is definitely sprung and after the Captain finished painting all the walls and crown molding…
……and I started moving things around…
……I found myself standing back with a frown on my face and a gleam in my eye.
If that is possible.
Coastal! I kept repeating to myself….time to go Coastal!
We have lived in Florida for several years and we have kept the rooms pretty much Spanish/Mediterranean with the exception of the guest rooms…they are just a bit lighter and a bit more airy than the Master Bedroom.
So to get my mind-set into the coastal groove, I saw the most beautiful blue orchid in my supermarket of all places!
I don’t believe there are blue orchids this bright in the Everglades of Florida but there are plenty of white one.
There is even a ghost orchid…see that post here… if you missed it.
No, I am pretty sure this particular blue orchid has been “dyed” from a white one.
So what does one do with a beautiful blue orchid?
Well, there are still drop cloths and furniture out of place in the Master bedroom, so I decided to set a coastal tablescape.
I took a break from my decorating and painting and pulled together this tablescape using the blue orchid as part of the centerpiece.
The burlap place mats have been used in other tablescapes and so have the blue glass handled flatware.
I also used the rope napkin rings on the turquoise napkins.
(By the way, I have a DIY on making nautical napkin rings that I will be posting very soon.)
I used blue water goblets and glass chargers with just a hint of blue in the crackled glass.
A blue dinner plate is topped with a multi-colored salad plate.
The little blue crystal egg cups I found at World Market and I just couldn’t resist them. The pic makes it look more green but it is definitely in the turquoise range.
A sail boat and blue and white striped pitcher complete the Coastal Spring tablescape. I was losing the daylight, so please forgive the darker pics. 🙁
Yep! I think I am definitely thinking coastal and can now go back to the Master Bedroom project.
….Summer breeze, makes me feel fine, blowing through the jasmine in my mind…Seals & Crofts!
Sorry, couldn’t help myself singing this wonderful song.
Please comment, I'd love to hear from you.
