Can We Talk? Pillow Talk Of Course!
As you know, I have been in the process of decorating my home for Fall.…and I love using a throw pillow or two on my beds, sofas…etc.
I have to admit…that is an understatement as I have more than one or two throw pillows, more like over 50 and I do store the majority of them in my dining room.
Before you say…no way!
Let me show you my secret….and the secret of many bloggers.
A dear friend asked me how I find room to store all my pillows and my answer is…
….I don’t!
Say what?
Ok, I have touched on this before, but I thought it was time to touch on it again.
I use pillow covers.
Years ago, I stacked pillows anywhere I could find a space. In the garage, in closets or on racks.
That all changed when I discovered pillow covers shortly after starting to write this blog.
Pillow Inserts are the best thing since sliced bread.
Pillow inserts are my work horses.
The sofa shows you the “bare” inserts that are waiting on their covers to transform the upcoming season from Summer to Fall.
These inserts are always out and about…it is only their covers that change.
Storage is not an issue when storing just the pillow covers.
The covers unzip or pull out from an insert and fold flat to be stored in a drawer, cabinet or even a box.
When I stored my pillow covers in a box, I stored them on-end so I could see the pattern of the cover instantly.
Recently, I moved my pillow covers to my hutch in the dining room…and I can easily pull out the cover(s) I am seeking.
You can purchase pillow inserts in 16X16, 18X18, larger or smaller in traditional sizes, as well as bolster sizes.
I can change them out as easy as changing a pillow case on wash day.
Some have zippers and others have pockets…it doesn’t matter as I have no preference as to which is a favorite.
The cover image is what I shop for.
Some of the pillows have hidden zippers which make it nice for “sofa looking”…but I have to admit they can be hidden just a bit too much.
I try to keep like colors together when storing my covers as I might change my color scheme at any given time.
It is just easier for me.
Pillow covers are usually very reasonable in cost and I have found them at Home Goods, Target, as well as my favorite, on-line shopping….Amazon!
Once you make the initial investment of the pillow inserts, the only out of pocket expense is the covers.
Even so, the inserts are very reasonably priced also.
I have found them at Hobby Lobby and Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics. The price is usually $8.00-$15.00. I prefer to buy them on-line at Amazon.
If I find them on sale, that is a bonus.
So, my dear readers…this is how I keep over 50 seasonal throw pillows in my home.
You would never have guessed it would you?
Have a great and blessed day
Please comment, I'd love to hear from you.
