We have all heard Mighty Oak and little acorn stories and I love the acorns in this tablescape.
My dear readers….,
It is time to admit the last couple weeks of Summer have hung on by it’s shirt tail in some places,…. but let’s face it, I believe it is time to hang it up in the Seasonal Closet along with the Winter and Spring wardrobe and embrace the Autumn and Fall.
Have you started to think about Fall decor yet?
I know, I know….right? …..perhaps you think it is too soon to be thinking about pumpkins and pinecones,…
And I have to admit Mother Nature is being a little slow in painting her leaves in the beautiful oranges,
yellows and browns, but in case you haven’t noticed, Starbucks has brought out their traditional Autumn drink
….the pumpkin spice latte and if Starbucks is saying it is Fall, then it must be, right? 🙂
BUT….but, as you know if you have been following me …I have already brought out a few tablescapes in anticipation of the upcoming Autumn.
I have yet another Fall Tablescape for you. I am sure you can get ideas by mixing or matching some of the settings I have used. I particularly love the acorn shaped soup tureen in the above pic.
I just love love love a pretty table setting and much of what I have is from shopping my home. As usual, there will be a source list at the end of this post.
However, as a teaser….I have also been working on a “softer” Fall tablescape that I can’t wait to show you.
I have been painting pumpkins! Yes, you can paint pumpkins and I will show you just how to do it later this week. So stay tuned for that DIY and soft Fall tablescape!
Back to this Fall tablescape, I have used another soup tureen which I love to use as a centerpiece. It makes for a practical centerpiece in that you can make soup the focus on the menu and most likely you have something similar in your cabinet…it may not be shaped like an acorn as this one is….but any soup tureen will work. Just work with what you have.
As you can see, I used two mercury pumpkins that light up and give off a pretty glow. (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of them) and surrounded the centerpiece with pretty autumn leaves.
I really like the fall leaves on the dinner plates which I have placed on rattan chargers.
The salad plates are a Tuesday Morning find and have acorns and ears of corn surrounding the rim of the plate.
I have topped the salad plate with individual acorn soup bowls that are not a matching set to the centerpiece tureen…but they work together.
You could use a soup bowl of any shape such as the rectangular soup bowl I used in this table setting from 2013, here!
The orange plaid napkins are paired with a rust colored napkin (one inside the other) as I like to do for something a little different, and the napkin rings are autumn leaves that I have had for years.
The cinnamon colored flatware is called Sophia,…..
….. and the tall amber glasses are from Pier 1 about 10-12 years ago. The stemmed amber glasses are from the dollar store.
If you like this tablescape, you can work up one of your own using whatever you have on hand.
Do you like to play with dishes as much as I do?
Have a great and Blessed mid-week day!

Thanks Margo…I love playing with dishes, I guess that is the kid in me. I have been loving the pics of your babies and their antics. Thanks for stopping by.

I love your blogs they always make me smile and brighten up my day. Just wish you were just down the road so I could pop in to share the hot cocoa or the pool (what ever the weather…)
I’m still waiting on the planning permission… so am in limbo before I make any changes to my lounge. I did “liberate” a lovely large mirror from the Hospice Charity shop… daughter no.2 had to dash out of a BBQ party to my aid to get it into my car (top down) and then it was a really tight squeeze. It was just too good to leave in the shop hehehe. I’m too easily tempted by that pre loved and in need of a new home item, especially when it supports a great cause and “liberating” isn’t really “buying” is it?
Much love and hugs xx

Me too on the living just down the road.
I sure hope you get permission from planning commission on your room extension. How long does it normally take?
I can just see you putting the mirror in your car as I have done the same thing before. Love the convertible but I know that they are not like an SUV which can haul pretty much anything. 🙂 And you are right…liberating is not the same as buying and someone should liberate beautiful pre-owned items and it might as well be you! 😉 Luv it and you!
Hugs

Kari, I love the table settings, but feel you are always rushing forward and not taking the time to chill and put your feet up in your secret garden and enjoy now. It can’t possibly be Autumn in Florida now as the holiday brochures say it is always summer… and as for painting pumpkins already… well….!
I’m still clinging to a the last remnants of a late summer (Indian Summer) and you’ll have to drag me kicking and screaming into Autumn. I’m dreading the approaching fall/winter when I need to pop my summer sandals back into the wardrobe and encase my feet in winter boots…. scrape the ice of the windscreen… and the need to put the heating on!! It is bad enough that it is dark when I get up now (just before 6am) and the clocks haven’t gone back yet.
I really think we need to find you a small part time job as a “window display artist” .. so that more people can enjoy your skills.
What a hoot eh!
Hugs from across the pond xx

Thanks my friend….I like to think that I am helping my readers to come up with ideas for decorating their homes and tables and giving them plenty of time to search out etc, 🙂 Actually, I have a few Halloween tablescapes that I am dying to share but I am trying to force myself to hold back until Oct. 😉

My dear friend, Thank you so much for thinking of me, and knowing my love of my Secret Garden.
It has been raining so much here the last couple months that my cushions are having a hard time drying out from day to day! The Captain and I take advantage of the small time frame of sun to jump in the pool, so we are relaxing in that way.
The painting of the faux pumpkins is so much fun….(I will be posting a how-to later) ….painting the real ones would indeed be a too-soon project as they certainly would not last long, now would they.
I do love Autumn, but I have to agree with you on Winter….I DO NOT miss all the freezing temps, icy roads and weeks on end of no sunshine. However, there is a bright side to everything and I do enjoy the cozy fire and reading a good book while the wind howls like a lonely wolf. haha! In fact, I am already preparing a really cool hot cocoa station to set up on the lanai (I even have a small moose for effect) for those cooler temps at the end of autumn and the beginning of winter.
Thank you for always being one of my biggest supporters…it means a lot to me! luv ya lots!
