Woodland Critters Come Out For Fall…..And More!
My sweet friends, welcome to my little Critters Fall Tablescape.
I have to say, I l-o-v-e critters!
Well, with the exception of those that slither and creep….I don’t care too much for them up close and personal. (As long as they stay social distanced, I can cope with that.) LOL
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year…Oh, what am I saying?
I love all the seasons.
And I love my little ‘straw critters’ because they make me think of Fall.
I actually have more straw critters in my collection, but I settled for just four …the two foxes and the two raccoons.
I could have brought out the rabbits, squirrels, owls, beavers, quail and pheasants etc….but I got hold of myself! LOL
I set the tablescape on the Lanai near the waterfall because the rocks that make up the waterfall look so Fall-ish!
And here in Florida, one takes what one can get.
I used an Autumnal tablecloth with wood sliced circles for chargers.
Topping the wood slice chargers are orange dinner plates and green cabbage salad plates.
A few months ago, a dear friend of mine gave me the green cabbage plates, the beautiful squash tea pot and the yellow bell pepper dish.
I promised her she would see them in a tablescape and here they are….perfect for this Fall Critter table.
Autumn colored glass leaf plates will hold the dessert of Apple Cobbler topped with a cream cheese whipped topping.
Flatware has wood handles to go with the more rustic setting.
The glassware with the autumnal leaves came from the dollar store many Harvest moons ago.
I have used the brown linen napkins with the leaf embroidery …..I don’t remember when or where I got them.
I perched a brown plaid bow at the top of the napkin.
This setting for two menu included a chicken pot pie made in a cast iron skillet using canned biscuits for the top.
The filling consisted of fresh thyme and sage from my herb garden along with sliced mushrooms, potato, onions, chicken and chicken broth.
So yummy!
The Captain loves comfort food and this Fall tablescape with critters was the perfect venue.
I used the little chipmonks for the use of name cards, but got to thinking…if the Captain and I don’t know who we are by now…we better just forget about it and that is what I did. LOL
As I was editing these pics for the table…I noticed something was wrong with Mr. Fox.
Can you see what it is?
Thank you for allowing me to share my love of all God’s creatures in this Woodland Critters Come Out For Fall table setting.
Genesis 2:19 “Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.”
Blessings Always
Kari
My dear friend Rita gave two choices for the Fall blog hop…I couldn’t decide which I liked better so I used them both.

Very cute idea to use your critters, Kari. I have several of those, too. Your rich colors on the table are just right for fall. Have a happy fall.

Kari, your little critters are adorable, and such a great way to welcome in autumn!! I am particularly loving your plate stack, all the way from the wood slice chargers to the little maple leaf bowls! I am all about comfort food, and you now have me dreaming of apple cobbler with cream cheese whipped topping!! Happy to be hopping with you 🙂
Sandra @ Dinner at Eight says
It’s wonderful to have friends who indulge our dish obsession. Although I don’t see how she could have let these go, lol. They’re a great choice to accent the lovely tablecloth. I enjoyed all the details but the critters stole the show. I especially liked the little fox – he looks like the red fox that has discovered my garden as a great place to hang out.
Rebecca says
Kari, I just love your cozy Fall table for two on your lanai! It’s a feast for the eyes with the vibrant Fall colors, gifted tableware and the cute straw critters. I loved seeing the waterfall and pool in the background. What a lovely place to dine and relax! Chicken Pot Pie is a favorite comfort food at our house, too. I make mine with puff pastry crust. It’s the perfect fall meal! It’s so nice to be hopping with you. Pinned!
Kari says
thanks Rebecca….I love being on the Lanai but it is in need of a few repairs or updating as I like to call it….so this Fall will be a perfect time to make a few changes, so glad you stopped by. Have a great September! hugs

I think I want to hang out on your lanai!! It looks like a relaxing place to hang out, no wonder all the critters have shown up to celebrate fall with you!! So cute!! I love the little raccoons with their spectacles on, maybe they will be able to find Mr. Fox nose!! I love your wood slab chargers with your tablecloth and plate stack. So nice to have been gifted more dishes and you served them well. It is always fun to hop with you! Happy autumn!!🍂🧡
Kari says
Thanks Ann….I hope we find his nose…I might have to find a small black button if my search turns up empty handed. Thank you for noticing and for stopping by. These hops are such fun and give us so many decor ideas that surely our readers can pick up some thing they like or have on hand including critters without noses. LOL Happy September! Blessings always

Kari, it is SO good to have your company among us for this welcome to fall tablescape blog hop! When your friend sees your wonderful table and the rest of the stylists’ ideas, she’s bound to come asking you for those plates, teapot and pepper dish back! Wow, what a nice gift! I love that combination on the table, and those critters are welcome to mosey on over to my table anytime, but right now is the perfect time with my harvest garden creature plates! I Your sense of humor made me laugh, especially about the name tags. Too funny. Your waterfall on the lanai is the perfect complement to your fall colorway. You could definitely fool anyone into thinking it’s anywhere but Florida!
Wishing you the best of health and enjoyment of life in welcoming autumn. I keep you in my prayers!
Kari says
Rita I thank you so much for your prayers…you have been here with me in spirt through this whole ordeal. I am delighted to participate in your blog hop and you are the perfect one to carry it on. I really enjoy setting a table and this one was so much fun. As the Captain and I sat eating our chicken pot pie…we kept laughing at all the expressions the critters had on their faces…I know it sounds odd, but we felt them looking at us. LOL Yes, my friend was so good with her gifts to me. A few times she would come to my door and set a piece of dish ware on my rocking chair and just walk away. I could watch her on my Ring doorbell. So kind and so sweet. I am so Blessed with such wonderful friends and prayer warriors. I am still praying for your friend too.
Hugs Always

These are the kind of critters I can handle. My girls and I were in Orlando last month and those pesky tiny ones were jumping out all over. They and I had a come to Jesus meeting and agreed to stay out of each other’s way. This lovely table is whimsical you chose the perfect backdrop for it. I have the same flatware and it is super versatile. Awesome dinner and I hope you and the captain enjoyed it.
Kari says
thanks Sandra, I see from your pics that you are enjoying your grands….what fun they are. thanks for stopping by. Hugs
Sarah says
Your darling critters certainly capture my heart. I love whimsy!!! The facial expressions are adorable! I would love to dine at this table! Happy Autumn!
Kari says
They are such fun and fit the Fall-ish table for sure. We are supposed to have rain today which will cool down these record Florida temps. Thanks for your comments.
Lynne says
I expected to see the little “critters” sitting down to your lovely dinner. They seemed right at home.
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
Kari says
Lynn, I am kinda glad they aren’t real as I would probably run for cover if they sat down with me. LOL
mhhwarmcozy says
Save me a place at the table, Kari! Such a sweet setting with all you little woodland creatures set up by the water fall. It’s just perfection, including the yummy chicken pot pie!
Kari says
There is nothing like good ole’ comfort food to take us back to our roots. Plus those meals are usually the easiest to make and I am kinda lazy these days. LOL
the Painted Apron says
Such fun Kari, and I love your adorable critters! The racoons’ glasses are hilarious! What a lovely setting you’ve created with the outdoor waterfall, and the chicken pot pie sounds amazing! Perfect Fall comfort food! I don’t suppose you get much Fall weather in Florida…we won’t get cooler temps until mid to late October, but I am enjoying pretending with Fall decor until then…You’ve certainly created Fall with this happy table!
Jenna
Kari says
thank you so much Jenna….You are right, the weather here is still pretty warm and if we cool down to the 60’s we are having a winter blast! LOL I hope you are enjoying your summer and the different hurricanes (rains, floods and winds) are staying away from your beach home….as well as your main home. hugs sweet friend
the Painted Apron says
Thanks Kari, so far so good, I’m hoping the worst of hurricane season has past 🙏
Linda Primmer says
Kari, your woodland critters are darling. I am so glad to see them come out and play. Is Mr. Fox missing his nose? You lanai is the perfect setting for this fun table. The waterfall must be so soothing. The plate stack is fabulous. Lovely flatware to compliment your table. Chicken pot pie with biscuits sounds so comforting. A pleasure to join you my sweet friend. Hugs
Kari says
Linda, you are so observant! YES! Mr. Fox is missing his nose! It must have fallen off in the closet top shelf (I have yet to retrieve it). So I will have the Captain search for it and if not found, I will have to find a black button substitute. He is a bit wonky right now. LOL thank you dear friend for stopping by today. Always Blessings to you and yours

Such a fun tablescape! Love the rich colors together and the backdrop seems like a fabulous place to dine.
Kari says
We do love to be on the Lanai (or in my Secret Garden) and especially love to eat our meals al fresco. We rarely eat inside as Florida provides mostly ideal temps year ’round. thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Sandy says
Lovely blog, Kari. Fall is one of my favorite seasons too. It’s starting to cool down a bit here. I talked to my friend in Canada yesterday and it’s really getting cold there. They had an extreme year there.
Love,
Sandy

Oh you are most welcome Cecilia…I love your hair. Mine went completely white and fell out when I was doing Chemo and I would have left it but my family (kids) wanted me to look like “Mom” again! LOL Thanks for stopping by.

Kari, I love all of your woodland critters that are so perfect for an autumn table. Unfortunately, I am not so happy with them all in my garden and yard. What a wonderful friend to gift you with the cabbage plates and squash teapot. I might have teapot envy. Chicken pot pie is the perfect comfort food and apple cobbler is a must for fall.
It is always a pleasure to sit with you at one of your lovely tables! Happy autumn, my friend 🍂
Kari says
thank you Pam…I agree critters in the garden remind me of Mr. McGregor and Peter Rabbit! LOL They can wreck havoc on flowers and veggies alike. Yes, my friend is wonderful to gift her bounty to me. :)…I am truly Blessed with friends such as she and you! Hugs
