It is here!
The first of December and the last in the “12 months in Gender” series.
The other months can be found here in case you missed them and would like to see the gender I assigned them.
I called the series The Twelve Months in Gender!
So my dear readers, let’s talk about December!
I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (Christmas Bells)
I know.
December is a favorite month of many.
It brings the Holiday Decorations and glistening, glittering lights in almost every home.
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there’s a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you hear
It’s Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, (ring-a-ling)
Hear them ring, (hear them ring)
Soon it will be Christmas day

December can be cold, the kind of cold that will chill you to the bone.
The kind of cold that makes you top your head with stocking caps and beanies not caring that your hair will be mussed for the rest of the day…you just want to be warm.
You don’t care if your mittens or gloves are fashionable…or if they match your coat.
You want to enjoy ice skating or football games or walking in the park among the trees of glittering with white lights.
December brings a warmth to your heart as the crisp snow crunches underfoot.
It brings people together, families together!
It is a time of gift giving and lots of wonderful foods to taste.
And most importantly, in the midst of all this cold and celebration, we acknowledge HIM, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ahhhh December, male or female?
I think that is easy.
Many might think because of the glitz and glamour of the Holiday lights that December could be female, but I say Contraire my friend!
True, there are the blingy parties, the gift buying, the handing out of gifts and the commercialization that December can bring.
But most importantly, December is the beginning of Advent or the time of preparation for the coming feast of Christmas.
December is The Holy Month, ….and Christmas!
Christmas, the Mass of Christ is held on the 25th of December, and commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, 2000 years ago.
Many events make up the month of December.
There is the sweet caroling, the visiting of nursing homes, helping needy families, shopping for gifts, the Christmas pageants, the formal lighting of candles and trees.
Let’s talk about the flower and gemstone for December.
Holly!
How appropriate for the month of December.
Especially when the berries turn red and with the holly dark green…well you can’t get any more like Christmas than that, now can you?
The gemstone on the other hand is a bit different.
It is not even red or green…it is blue.
Zircon is actually a German word in origin and as you can see by the stone above, it is breathtakingly beautiful.
There are actually three stones that can be utilized for December…the blue zircon, tanzanite and turquoise!
Regardless, this gemstone represents purity, integrity and dignity. The wearer of this birthstone is seen to be protected from illness, ill intentions, and from all sorts of adversaries. It is also perceived to have healing properties.
Wow! I should have lots of those stones! LOL!!!
My dear readers, I believe the month of December is masculine.
The reason for the season.
As my post title suggests…the King of Kings.
Luke 2: 7,8
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
John 3:16, 17
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
Merry Christmas my dear, sweet wonderful readers.
Blessings Always!

I am so sorry I am late to the December post. It has been a very busy week, as I am sure it has been for you. December is definitely male. It is Christmas, the celebration of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Thank you for posting the months of the year with your beautifully written sentiments. Wishing you a Merry Christmas my sweet friend!
Thank you Pam….December just has to be for our Lord. Praise Him!
Yes, I don’t know where the time has gone but it is almost the end of the year and there is so much yet to do. I find myself wondering how I got so much done when I was working, because now that I have retired, My day is over before I know it. LOL
Thanks for your kind comments.
Hugs my sweet friend and Merry Christmas!
Kari
Yes, December is about Him!
How are you doing dear friend? I am sure you are worn out; moving, landscaping, planning the hop, etc…… but we women are like a steel magnolia (just like the movie)…we continue to keep going like the energizer bunny.
I consider myself so fortunate to count you as my friend.
Hugs and Blessings always
