Silver And Gold Christmas Table 2021!
When I think of Christmas…as I am decorating, I like to play Christmas music… or at least sing about Christmas.
Silver and Gold.
There are several songs with the lyrics of “Silver and Gold”.
Perhaps one of the most familiar “Silver and Gold” songs is the one sung by Burl Ives in the animated “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” television special that has delighted kids everywhere, including myself.
I never get too old for that one.
The lyrics to that version are below.
Silver and gold
Ev’ryone wishes
For silver and gold
How do you measure
It’s worth
Just by the pleasure
It gives here on Earth?
Silver and gold
Mean so much more when I see
Silver and gold decorations
On ev’ry Christmas tree
His clothes were torn and tattered
With sandals on his feet
And I stopped to help him
And lend him a hand
He said, I love you so much
But you must understand
But things of this world
They won’t last you long
And time has a way of turning us old
I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold
No fame or fortune, nor riches untold
Oh, I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold
Don’t give me the world with a shallow thrill
But just give me a Savior, my life He can hold
I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold
I’d rather be His than have riches untold
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or land
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced handThan to be the king of a vast domain or be held in sins dread sway
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today

What an absolutely gorgeous tablescape! I adore the Nutcracker. In Girl Scouts we would sing: Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold. 🙂
Kari says
I love that. Laura…..so true…thanks for stopping by. hugs

Kari, you really nailed the silver and gold theme…it’s so sparkly and gorgeous! I love the nutcracker and Santa at each end of the table. Did they come in a set? You’d never know those napkins are 30 years old! The centerpiece of abundant pinecones and candles is lovely, too. When I think of silver and gold, the Girl Scout song comes to mind:
“Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold”. Of course, the Burl Ives version is such a classic at Christmas! It’s always fun to hop with you, my friend. Have a wonderful Christmas with the Captain!

Kari, you have really nailed the silver and gold theme of your table! Your plates are so pretty, especially stacked on the sparkly silver placemats. Your pinecone centrepiece with all the candles is stunning all lit up! I use faux candles all the time. it makes for worry free entertaining! One of my favourite elements of your table are the nutcrackers. The addition of the gold festive words on top of the plates is such a nice touch. I love Beryl Ives version of Silver and Gold. In fact, the classic Christmas music is my favourite and you will find it playing starting at the beginning of November at our house! Wishing you a wonderful Christmas season!

Kari, what an elegant tablescape. The gold and silver truly is a beautiful choice for a formal table. I love your placemats and the lovely lettering on the plates. All the votives cast a beautiful glow. Best wishes for a healthy and happy Christmas.

Oh Kari, your table is absolutely gorgeous! The silver and gold theme is so elegant. The nutcracker and Santa are precious, and your centerpiece is beautiful. I love all the glorious candlelight. I use flamesless candles too. I have them everywhere. Especially, this time of year when in it gets dark early. I hope that you have a most Merry Christmas season.

These faux candles are beautiful on this table! The wooden elements give the table a cozy feel and the color palette brings in some glam. Mixing metals is a great way to add more interest in a styled table and you did an amazing job here. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and it’s been a pleasure hopping with you this year!

Dear Kari, Lovely tablescapes. You do it beautifully. My favorite Silver and Gold songs are by Dolly Parton and the gospel singer. To me they sing about the true meaning of Christmas. Kari, I hope some of your family can be with you and Tom for Christmas, but if not still have a very Merry Christmas.
Love you,
Sandy

Hello, and Season’s Greetings! I never knew all the lyrics to the Burl Ives song. I just remember that 1st verse. It’s nice to learn new things!
You do silver and gold great justice here. I know a lot of people are leery about mixing them (I don’t know why?), and you have shown how well it can be done with thought and confidence. Your Nutcracker and Santa are VERY handsome!
I’m not against using battery operated candlelight at all! It’s safest (speaking as someone who has twice almost burned down an entire table, twice in the dining room, and once in my bedroom!), and it gives off a lot of light. Easier to decorate with them, too, because they can be tucked into spaces real candle flame would wreak havoc.
Nicely done! Have a very Merry Christmas!

Kari, I’m hearing the Burl Ives ‘Silver and Gold’ version from Rudolph in my head now! I was just telling my hubby last night I’m ready for my annual dose of Christmas cheer from Rudolph, Hermey and Yukon Cornelius. 🙂 I love the silver glittery details from your snowflake placemats in contrast the gold flatware, sparkly picks and pine cones. Your nutcracker and Santa flanking your centerpiece at each end of the table are perfectly paired with your scripted sentiments of the season…merry, noel, believe and joy! Happy to be hopping with you again and wishing you a Merry December and very Merry Christmas! ♥

I love that you combined silver and gold for your table. The metallic accents give it an ethereal, wintry feeling that is enchanting! I like the contrast given by the wood and greenery. Altogether a lovely table! Merry Christmas!

The placemats are so unique, and I adore all of your candles – I also love battery operated candles, but so many make such a romantic statement (I have to remember this!). Have. joyous season!

Kari, your silver and gold theme has always been a favorite of mine for Christmas. Your Santa and Nutcracker are perfect for your centerpiece and I love how you added the words to them as well on the plates. Those napkins are so pretty!! Some things just never go out of style!! Such a pretty table in the glow of the candlelight!! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas ♥️

The song Silver and Gold in Rudolph gets me every year! It’s not Christmas unless I see/hear it. You’ve captured it beautifully Kari on your table. That nutcracker and Santa figure are the super stars —wow! I like your fake candles my friend. Not only so much safer and practical, you massing them on the table creates a spectacular effect! Worry free to burn all evening long. Thinking of you warmly my friend. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.

Kari, I love your spray paint tip!
The old hymn lyrics gave me chill bumps. It is a favorite.
I love your gold, white, and silver tablescape. The Nutcracker and Santa stand guard proudly and I love the juxtaposition of glitter and glam alongside natural elements of the wood slices and pine cones. And of course, the candlelight makes it all so elegant and adds warmth.
Wishing you a delightful Christmas season with your family.

LOL I thought of the Burl Ives song when I read the title of your post. Your table is so pretty: I love the silver, gold, and white. I also like that you posted photos of your table at night with the candles: I love how it looks at night. It seems so cozy and pretty! Your nutcracker is very unusual: I love the colors he’s painted.
Merry Christmas!

Kari, you had me singing the Burl Ives version at the title! I must look up the other versions I’m not familiar with. It is magical what the glow of the candles does in transforming this tablescape at nighttime! It’s really so pretty. The Etsy words spray painted was a great idea, and brilliant to keep changing colors for future use. I really love the overall cream colors of this, reminding me of snow covered fields at night. I’m so happy you continue being part of this style showcase of tablescapers. Your presence sends good energy my way. You are a bright light! Merry Christmas season! xo

Good morning, Kari! Your silver and gold table setting has a casual elegance that is very appealing. I love the lyrics of the songs that you included, especially I’d rather have Jesus! I have sung this song numerous times at church. The centerpiece is so lovely with the white and gold nutcracker and Santa. The glittering placemats and napkin rings are magical as are the now vintage napkins.
It is always fun to blog hop with you. Wishing you a Merry Christmas season♥️

Kari, I’ve been combining metals throughout the house this year and love that you did this with your table theme. The combination of different metals, white, and rustic with refined touches just calls out to me. Everything is beautiful!
