Spring Is In The Air ….In Florida Anyway

Pastel Spring is in the air…in Florida Anyway and so here we go with a Spring Blog hop.  What better way to feel Spring than to look at pastel colors.  As I was deciding on a table covering, I found that I have TWO pastel gingham tablecloths…and I determined that I must really like soft pink, blue, yellow and lavender.

pastel tableclothThe table started with this classic gingham table cloth and while I was at my linen closet, I chose the matching napkins. For the napkin rings, I used these little ceramic bunnies in pink, blue, yellow and green.

pastel flatwareI thought I needed something down the center of the table so I pulled out some pastel gauzy table runners in pink, blue, yellow and lavender.  After putting them down the table, I did not like all four of them together,  I had to decide on using one color OR not using a runner. pastel flower towers

pastel flowersMeanwhile, for the centerpiece, I used faux pastel colored sweet peas and daisies from my storage and placed them in my white ceramic bunny vase,  I placed two resin flower towers on either side.  I have had the bunny vase and flower towers for several years.

pastel tableThe plate stack starts with a straw place mat, followed by our everyday dinner plates and topped with salad plates with bunnies in various poses.  The 8 salad plates were acquired earlier this year from Amazon. They are still available; you can see them here.

Lavender table runner I saw the salad plates on-line. I couldn’t resist ordering them …even though I have numerous bunny plates.  I vowed to not buy any new dishes as I am running out of room.  I was obviously caught in a weak moment. 🫣

The Bunny Salt & Pepper Shakers have soft colors and pensive faces.  They are very detailed; if you want to see them, click here.

pastel salt & pepper shakers I added another pair of bunnies with a cart of carrots on the other end of the table. I have had them for a few years… I’m not sure where I bought them,

Choosing Lavender for the Table Runner

pastel tableLavender became the gauzy winner of the table design, altho I think maybe the pink would have been better suited ….Or perhaps none?

Rita of Panoply has organized another great Blog Hop where 16 table stylists get together and hopefully give ideas or inspiration for setting a Spring or  Easter Table.  Since many of us have been displaying our tables for over 15 years now, I believe we have proven that one can set a pretty table with items on hand, borrowed from family or friends or items found in thrift shops.  Tables can be set inside in a formal setting or alfresco (outside) ,… or  it could be a simple picnic on the grass with a quilt.  Dishes can be fine china, vintage, melamine or colorful paper plates.  I know my particular family appreciates sitting down to a pretty Holiday table…and in my opinion, it makes our time together more meaningful. Hopefully, you, our readers, will like the tables we have designed for today.

  1. Kari, I’m always entranced by bunny plates and these are so cute with different designs but wreathed in the same flowers. Pastel colors are a sure sign of spring, whether it’s arrived or is still on the horizon. Gingham feels especially cheery, with or without the runner(s), though I’m partial to lavender. I love the bunny vase filled with pretty flowers, and the small bunnies beside it. But I’m smitten by the flower topiaries! Wishing you a wonderful Spring!

  2. So pretty Kari! I love gingham in any colour, but the pastel is perfect for spring! The bunny plates are darling, especially love the dancing pair of bunnies! The pop of lavender in the table runner is just the perfect addition of colour. I love pastel flour “topiary” trees, they are so unique! Wishing you a happy spring! We are still getting snow here 🙁

  3. Kari you’ve done it again! I love your beautiful color scheme – so perfectly spring! The bunny plates are adorable, and the different colors of napkin rings, flatware, and glassware are so fun! It’s all like a pastel rainbow!! I think the lavender runner is lovely. Pink would have been lovely too, but this one really sets off the lavender in the flowers. Great choice! Always such a pleasure hopping with you. Happy Spring my friend!

    1. Oh thank you Barb…I always welcome your thoughts…kinda think of you as my mentor. I don’t think I will ever tire of playing with my dishes…I think I was destined to do that when as a little 4th and 5th grader I set up orange crates and wild gourds as a table setting in a grove of trees in the pasture on our farm. I swept that dirt ‘floor’ so clean every day, it became hard as a rock. Thanks for stopping by my friend.🥰🌸🦋🐇

  4. I immediately fell in love with your gingham tablecloth, Kari, it’s such a perfect choice for an Easter setting. The matching flatware really pulls the setting together and look so sweet. Your explanation on deciding on a runner was spot on. I usually go through several trial and error attempts to get the perfect look. Loved those Easter bunny plates. The sweet expressions make for such an inviting table. Always a pleasure to hop with you. Have a lovely Easter!

    1. Thanks Lynne…don’t we love playing with our dishes? When I think of Spring I think pastel colors and go all fuzzy and warm especially after a cold and drizzly Winter…and yes we have had some cold and rainy Winters especially this past winter here in Florida. Plus, bunnies make me smile. Have a great and happy March. 🌸🦋

  5. Kari, your table is adorable! I love the sweet bunny plates – each design is cuter than the last!! The pastel pallet is so pleasing for spring and I had to check out your link to the pastel flatware, so fun!! I bet all your bunnies are happy to be taking on such a cheerful role on your table. I hope you have a joyful spring and Easter!🌸🐇🐣

    1. Thanks Ann…I was glad to see the flatware was still available….there is something about those pastels that remind me of my grandma. When my sister and I were about 4 and 5…grandma brought us pale pink and blue fuzzy PJ’s for Easter one year. I have such wonderful feelings about her and those pastel colors. Have a Blessed week….🌸🦋

  6. This came from Marsha who was having a problem commenting because the button turned gray…so sorry she was having a issue and I will check it out. Thanks Marsha for bringing to my attention.

Kari, your table is so whimsical and pretty and can be very similar to Mary’s table with the plaid pastel tablecloth. (Love it!!!) Your use of it fits perfectly with your stunningly beautiful bunny plates. I definitely would not have resisted buying them either. My heart melted, especially for the plate that included a dancing bunny couple. So darn cute! I loved your use of the gauze runners (all of them) but the single lilac one was great too. Your floral bunny centerpiece with the sweet pea trees are so darling. So cheerful and full of sweet charm. Happy Easter, Kari, and to your entire family.

    1. Marsha, I so appreciate your efforts to comment and thank you for your persistence by sending me a personal email. I have contacted my IT guys…we shall see.

I do love the gingham tablecloth obviously as I have two of them…but I find I do that occasionally …I forget I bought something and will buy it again. LOL. I fell in love with the little bunny plates and plan to keep them out til Easter. As for the gauze runners, I found another color in my closet, sage green, that I believe would work just as well as any of the others. Decisions Decisions Decisions! My table is always evolving. Happy March and have a wonderful Easter.🌸🐇💚🦋

  7. Oh my goodness, Kari, those bunny plates are too cute and right different designs,!! I can see why you were enamored with them. Your tablecloth is perfect and then pastel flatware with those cute napkin rings just make me happy. 🐰💕 🐰

    1. I love bunnies Kitty…even those in our front yard…in fact, we just saw some very small ones the other day. I don’t believe they like to eat any of those plants in front. So far, they have not gotten into the Secret Garden which is in the back and fenced in…so we haven’t had to deal with them eating our plants. I love pastels too, they just make me think of Spring! Thanks for stopping by my friend. 🌸🐇🦋

    1. Ricki Jill I am a pushover for bunnies…when my twins were in 4H, they raised bunnies with big floppy ears and I adored them. They came in all colors though I have to confess, white is my favorite. Thanks for stopping by…I wish you and yours a Happy Spring and Easter. 🌸🐇🐇🐇🐇🦋

    1. Connie, your comment makes me smile too…thank you for taking the time to stop by. Spring is in the air and I really love the soft pinks, blues, greens and lavenders. Have a wonderful rest of March and a Happy Easter. 🐰🌷👒🌻

  8. Kari, your pastel table is like a breath of spring air to this winter-weary Calgary girl and you have carried out your theme so beautifully! I love the pastel tablecloth and napkins and the lavender runner down the center of the table providing a nest for eggs is delightful. The napkin rings are darling and multicolor flatware is so unique and perfect for both spring and Easter. The salad plates are so cute and I can see why they were hard to resist. The bunny vase with sweet peas and daisies is so pretty – we once had a house with sweet peas along the side of the garage and I still remember their sweet smell – thanks for that memory. I’m so glad that the spring temps are with you – hooray. It’s always a pleasure hopping with you and wishing you a happy spring and a joyous Easter.

    1. Kim, I hear ya on the sweet peas…I had some when we lived in Kansas and I would ‘sniff’ them each time I went outside. I am sure you are ready for Spring, I love Canada but not the snowy cold weather which is why we moved from Kansas. I would almost say Kansas Winters are far worse than Calgary’s. When it snows in Kansas, it comes sideways with lots of bitter wind and freezing and re-freezing, causing icy and slick streets. Don’t get me wrong, I was born and raised there and will always love Kansas Springs but their winters are terrible. Happy Easter to you and yours my friend. 🧚🏻🐰🐸🐥

  9. Oh, Kari, I love your spring blog. It’s so wonderful. Okay, I thought I was ready for spring until it got here. Now all I do is sneeze and my nose is constantly running. I’m totally miserable. The pollen is killing me. You know what it’s like in this part of the Midwest.
    Hugs,
    Sandy

    1. Oh no Sandy…the ole’ allergy is upon us season….I remember it well. Take care of yourself my friend and you know how much I love and appreciate you. hugs and blessings to you and Ron.

  10. Your gorgeous tablescape made me smile! Adorable tablecloth!!! Thank you for such inspiration and happiness. Happy Spring!

    1. Thank you for stopping by Maristella and for your kind comments. I’m glad my table made you smile. I do love Spring as it is so refreshing after the colder winter weather. 🥰

  11. I love all of the pastels, the linens, and those adorable napkin rings. I also love the way you used different colored flatware at each place setting. I have never done that before. At one point when I had Fiestaware (and I am still regretting having gotten rid of it), I would set tables, each place setting a different color and matched the flatware to the color of the dishes. I remember being quite chuffed when my then six-year-old grandson commented on it. You know you’ve made an impression when a child says something. 🙂

    1. Patti I have all (almost all as they keep adding colors) Fiesta dinnerware, flatware, water glasses, pitchers and various S&P’s and serveware. For years it was my everyday dinnerware. I have set tables with it in several different combos and I still love it. thanks for stopping by🥰

  12. Hi Kari I love your pastel table, it just looks like spring and Easter. The tablecloth was the perfect foundation to build your pastel color scheme. How fun is the pastel flatware. I may need to check it out. I am glad I didn’t see those bunny plates, I might have been tempted to purchase. I would so enjoy sitting at your table, it is so perfect to welcome spring!

    1. Spring is busting out all over here…our temps shot up to 85 and is probably gonna stay that way and the ole’ AC will be workin’ overtime. Thank you dear friend….you are so sweet.

  13. Kari, you have set such a pretty table for spring. The pastels are so pretty. The bunny plates are adorable, each one in a different pose. The floral topiaries are lovely, especially with your pastel gauzy scarves running down the center of your table. Bunny napkin rings are so cute and perfect for spring. Whimsical and so fun. Always a pleasure to join you at the table.🌺🌹🐇

    1. Linda I have gauzy scarves in lavender, green, white, blue, yellow and pink and they are actually more of a head scarf but you know how much we blogging stylists improvise with different elements. LOL. I have used quilts and sheets for tablecloths as I know some others have also. Thanks my friend for dropping by. happy Spring!

  14. Kari, I find myself drawn to those pastel colors as well, especially as spring and Easter are on the horizon. The plates are a perfect compliment to the linens! Who could resist such adorable bunnies? I plan to soon transition my setting to include some bunnies. I also have a set of Easter topiaries I need to pull into service. Thanks for the reminder. Love the idea of the soft, billowy fabric with the nested eggs. It’s always fun to play with different ideas in the weeks before Easter. Your table is inspiring me!
    Happy Spring and Happy Easter!

    1. Sarah I loved your sweet table…and I saw bunnies! Don’t you love when we are reminded of something we have stashed and we find it again and it feels like Christmas all over again? LOL Thanks for stopping by…hugs

  15. This is such a happy table! The pastels say “Spring is here!” and your bunny plates are darling. Of course you had to have them. I love the table runner use, too. And the flowers are really pretty. Happy spring! (Rick tells me it is in the 80s in FL. For us, that’s summer!)

    1. Awe Jeanie…you are too kind. Yes, we are having record heat here in Florida right now. Temps started in mid 80’s but by the afternoon we had reached 90 degrees! What part of Florida is Rick in? We are in the Southwest…Cape Coral is about 30 miles North of Naples. Plenty warm for sure. Happy Spring my friend.

  16. Good morning, Kari! Your cute table setting brought a smile to my face; the whimsical plates and bunnies are absolutely adorable! Happy spring, Cecilia – My Thrift Store Addiction

    1. I love whimsey Cecilia and I know you do too….I am sure I changed the table runners 3 or 4 times trying to decide on a color…finally I chose the lavender, not because it worked better but because I was tired of moving all the elements around. LOL

  17. Good Morning Kari, What a lovely first picture of your Spring/Easter table. But wow, how the gauzy runner and the placemats elevated your table even more. All your runners would have worked. Those are such sweet bunny plates. I particularly like the smiling male bunny dancing with his partner plate. My favorite addition to the table was the fringy placemats echoing the feathery floral garlands on the rim of the plates. Don’t we all start with an idea and question ourselves until we come to the final setting? Love your final setting.
Lots of TV viewing coming up. Happy KU has two byes.

    1. Jan you know I will be glued to the TV for the next few weeks….I am still in shock that the Jayhawks moved up to 3rd in the Big 12. The Captain and I looked at the stats of Iowa State and Tech and I don’t see how we moved above both of them. Perhaps it was Quad 1 wins? Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Thanks for your sweet comments and liking the lavender table runner…I was getting tired of moving everything to re-position everything after changing the color. LOL. And yes, I have changed my plan completely when I had another bright idea. 😳 I think they call that women’s prerogative! 😂

  18. What happy pastel colors on your table!! The adorable bunny plates so sweet and i adore ALL the gauze colors running down the center of your table as they highlight all the checks on the tablecloth! Enjoy spring!

    1. Thanks Patti….good to know and as I said, I LOVE pastels…and if I ever have a large Spring party, I have 2 HUGE gingham tablecloths and 24 matching napkins.LOL Happy Spring

  19. Good morning, Kari, and thank you bringing your spring table and sharing a touch of that Florida spring with me! We have been feeling it the past few days, even if the upcoming forecast looks like a bit of winter again.
I saw those plates on Amazon! I can certainly see why they caught you in a weaker moment. The beauty of salad plates, though, is that since they’re smaller, it’s a little easier to justify the splurge. The flatware is so cute, too, with all the colors mixed in one set. I actually like all the scarves mixed on the table center, and kept going back through the photos to see the variety. Your florals in bunny and side towers are adorable with the bunny cart and salt & peppers. Just like in nature (🤞not my yard, please), they multiplied.
Kari, thank you for bringing the feeling of spring alive with your table. It makes me happy!

    1. Thank you again Rita for hosting the Spring Blog Hop! I am a push over for cute salad plates and you are right, salad plates are not only cheaper they are easier to store…and currently, I may have way too many! LOL.
On another note, the Mountaineers got a bye…yay!!! AND I was shocked to see the Jayhawks get 2 byes! I am still not sure how KU moved ahead of Iowa State AND Texas Tech. Perhaps it had to do with Quad 1 wins. Anyway good luck to both teams. Rock Chalk Jayhawk

  20. Good morning Kari, I can see why you couldn’t resist those sweet bunny plates! So many other adorable bunnies that hopped to your table to pair with your mix of pastels and floral topiaries. I love your use of the gauzy table runner to add interest down the center of your table too. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Happy March! 🐇🩷

    1. Thank you Mary…you must get up way before daylight to comment on these posts. I get up early but my thoughts are sometimes incoherent …LOL. I noticed we both used pastel gingham…yet they were so different in fabric. Both of us using runners seem to prove they were needed. Thanks for your kind comments and I wish you and yours a wonderful and happy Spring. 🥰

Please comment, I'd love to hear from you.
