Boring you with Butterflies!

 

Dear friends,. seeing the sweet post from Nancy@ Two Trails One Road... with her mothering of monarch butterflies reminded me of my post in June of 2015 and the updated post of 2024, which is also linked below with even more detailed photos of the metamorphosis process of the black swallowtail butterfly and my parsley herb garden.  Let’s continue….

I am sorry my friends if I am boring you with butterflies!You see, when the Captain and I married…we had this Indian poem printed on the back of our wedding programs.  For those of my dear friends who attended our wedding…I am sure they will see my connection to butterflies.

So if I may….I will give you my Black Swallowtail Butterflies Update!

The metamorphosis has begun as the caterpillars have/are going from being caterpillars to cocoons to beautiful butterflies!

I have previously shared some of the pics with you (click the link below which will show the caterpillar and egg process) and as each beautiful black swallowtail butterfly emerges, I get so excited!  The link is below titled “Giving up on Parsley”.

Giving Up On Parsley…

So far there have been four butterflies (that I know of) and this morning there was another, still wet with it’s little legs clinging to the parsley plant stems….(they have been decimating the leaves for the last few weeks)….but that is ok! This is exciting!

In all my years, I have not been able to witness the complete process as I have here in my Secret Garden!

From egg laying to the pupa stage and to the butterfly literally spreading it’s damp wings, gaining strength and preparing to fly away.

I just wanted to share the journey with you…and the takeaway which is a parallel to Jesus. 

Butterfly StageMeaning in Christ’s Life:

The Caterpillar:  Represents Christ’s earthly life and human birth. Jesus was born in mortal flesh, bound to the earth, walking among humans in humility.

The Chrysalis / Cocoon:  Represents Christ’s death and burial. The caterpillar retreats into a dark, seemingly lifeless tomb, mirroring Jesus being placed in the grave.

The Butterfly:  Represents Christ’s Resurrection. He breaks free from the restrictions of death and the tomb, emerging in a glorious, immortal, and celestial body.
