Let’s Dance in March

Let’s Dance in March will become a familiar saying as the prelude to March Madness is winding up!

dance

Not that kind of dancing….although I really like Dancing with the Stars!

College Basketball is getting into Divisional Play!  And the Captain and I are big fans of College Basketball!

ku5Our Team is the Kansas Jayhawks!

ku2If nothing else I am a loyal fan…a very loyal fan!

ku4
Allen Fieldhouse is always packed to capacity

We take sports seriously in Kansas! 🙂

ku3This is Coach Bill Self and the KU Jayhawk Mascot!

ku1These are two of my favorite players …(what am I saying? they are all my favorites)…but these two in 2008 were especially great!  Mario Chalmers who now plays professionally for the Miami Heat and Brandon Rush who plays professionally for the Utah Jazz. The Jayhawks are really good at teamwork, Coach Self sees to that!

ku6The above pic is of our Jayhawk mascot with Number 1 on his Jersey and a smaller Jayhawk Mascot (Jay)

Jay the little Jayhawk Mascot

At one of the Jayhawk games, the Captain and I rode the elevator with the Jayhawk Mascot and believe me when I tell you that he is TALL!! (Could have been his big head :))He towered over both of us. However, the 1/2 little mascot was just my size!

Sort of…well, maybe a little taller than me….I am 5 ft 4 inches. OK, I have shrunk to 5 ft 3 1/2 inches, but I am going to start doing stretching exercises.

Perhaps as soon as tomorrow! 🙂

ku8This pic was from the game last Saturday where Wayne Seldon (white Jersey Number 1) went after a basketball headed for the fan section. Seldon landed in the middle of the fans….but he saved the basketball and center, Joel Embiid made two points off the save.

‘Pay Heed, all Who Enter! Beware of the Phog

Allen Fieldhouse is named in honor of Dr. Forrest C. “Phog” Allen, a former coach of the Jayhawks whose tenure lasted 39 years. The actual basketball court has been named the James Naismith Court, in honor of basketball’s inventor, who established the Kansas’ basketball program and served as the Jayhawks’ first coach from 1898 to 1907.

This statue of Dr. James Naismith stands in front of the Allen Fieldhouse on the Lawrence, Kansas Campus.

As you can see, Kansas University Sports are steeped in tradition and holds a special place in my heart.

I’ve got my dancing shoes on…ok, it is a Kansas basketball jersey….

And I am ready to play basketball….

ok, I won’t be playing basketball…

but I will certainly be watching each and every game and with great enthusiasm and listening for that haunting “Rock Chalk Jayhawk Chant” that comes at the end of each win ! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. Thanks Sandy….we will be cheering together! My grand daughter (went to K State) but she likes the Jayhawks too…She and I text back and forth during the game when something great happens or when it looks like they might lose. Pretty cool! I hope they can go all the way this year, but fingers are definitely crossed. One game at a time.
