The Kansas City Chiefs…!

Hey my friends…..the World Series is over and the Football season has started…particularly, the Kansas City Chiefs football season!

It is very cool here in Florida today…48 degrees cool….and it is another game day for football.

Perhaps you know that Baseball plays 162 games a season…Football is 16 games per season!

In 1969…The Kansas City Chiefs won the first Super Bowl and they have not gotten closer than a play-off or two since that time.

But that is ok….the Chiefs have been fortunate to have a few amazing players….and I was able to watch them in person!

So far our season has not been great…but it has a bit of a promise….and could be described as “good”

I would like to share with you a little history of three of the most amazing players in KC Chiefs history, past and present.

In 2001, Running Back, Priest Holmes was described as being fast like a meteorite.

He played seven seasons in Kansas City, rushing for 6,070 yards and scoring 83 total touchdowns!!

Holmes was named to the All-Pro team in each of his first three seasons in Kansas City (2001-03) and is tied with LaDainian Tomlinson for an NFL record 10 games with at least two touchdowns in 2003.

What an impact he had on the KC game of football.

Another one of the amazing players was Dante Hall, Wide Receiver and Special Teams player! KC X Factor!

Touchdown! Dante Hall!

He was electrifying on the field and the fans (including me) jumped and cheered as loudly as we could as he returned the football 93 yards!

Dante Hall doing what he did best…returning a punt for a touchdown!

In 2003, Hall returned a kickoff or a punt for a touchdown four games in a row, which is an NFL record.

But alas, one cannot rest on past laurels…and believe me there have been many outstanding Chief’s players.

Today, we have Jamaal Charles.

Chiefs Running Back, Jamaal Charles caught a career high 70 passes in 2013 while continuing to run the ball efficiently.

Charles is the Chiefs’ all-time leading rusher (6,186 yards) and has surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground in each of the last four seasons.

The three-time Pro Bowler has rushed for 200 yards or more in a game three times and has the two longest rushing plays (91 and 86 yards) in Kansas City history.

Today the Chiefs play the New York Jets and of course the Captain and I will be front and center at our home’s big screen TV.

We are ready! Go Chiefs!
We are ready! Go Chiefs!

It is not the same as being there in person (like we did when we lived in KC and had Season’s Tickets)…but it is the next best thing.

AND it is a lot warmer….:) 🙂 🙂

  1. Oh yeah, we turned our clocks back.

The Chiefs won 14 to 7. Yay Chiefs!

I’m not really a football fan because of the dangers, but I want them to win. I just hope the players are saving for retirement because they’ll need it after all their injuries to their body. You don’t hear much about neck and brain injuries, but they happen a lot.

    1. I have to admit I like getting up to the day breaking….but it sure gets dark early in the evening. win some lose some!

Yes, the Chiefs won….so glad they did.

There are many dangers to taking such hard hits although the commission is cracking down this year on un-necessary roughness. Some of the players say it is like playing touch football…but that is because they are so used to all the roughness. I do hope some of the new rules make a difference.

      thanks for stopping by..

    1. Hi Ross,

Did you mean football players work hard? I know….there are so many sports that I comment on.!

Right now I am wearing my Kansas University sweat shirt/hoodie because the Kansas Jayhawks (basketball) play tonight in Lawrence, KS!!! Hahaha!

My teams consist of the Kansas City Royals (BASEBALL)…the Kansas City Chiefs (FOOTBALL) and the Kansas Jayhawks (BASKETBALL)

And yes…some of the games overlap! 🙁

      Thanks for stopping by…
